From The New World Volume 7 [END]
I didn't like the little skips toward the end (during Squealer's trial, for example, or when Satoru is going to reveal the truth about the morph rats and what he says is skipped over only to be revealed some pages letter in a flashback as Saki is wondering if Squealer knew the truth). some of them work with the narration, some others feel a bit cheap.
The manga had a lot of yuri fanservice that could have been shortened without losing much but it didn't really cheapen the worth of story. In a way it helped to also highlight how the tampering with the youngster still left them a bit fucked up, though one could also argue that maybe it wasn't needed. Still, it was nice eyecandy.
I never realized, while watching the anime, that Maria and Mamoru's child was a boy. The long hair and cute face had me believe he was a she. Felt like a surprise actually.
I really disliked Squealer watching the anime, but after reading the manga, I felt like I could understand him a bit more. He did despicable things but then, which person doesn't commit despicable things during revolution? As usual, it's the winner that decides who's wrong and who's right (and in this case it's even more true because of the past as well). Squealer lost, so he was in the wrong, but I have to admire the sort of dignity he still kept while proclaiming
I'm neither an animal nor your slave! We are human. Did he know the truth? I think he just understood it, more than knowing it.
I didn't completely get the last page. Is Saki speaking to me, the reader? Is the person taking up her manuscript supposed to be me, the reader? I'm not sure, but it's a nice way to conclude I guess. Personally I prefer it when an end isn't too open, but I'm gonna be OK with this.
The reunion between ghost Maria/Mamoru and their son was great.
