I kill myself when the Braves lose. So last year I didn't post much. I already spend a lot of time in hospitals and hospital beds and then I have to cry at the same time. As if hooked up to IV's wasn't enough?

it's cause baseball is awesome.

to be fair this time of year brings out a lot of people... and then when teams like the cubs despite the hype go 12-38 in their first 50 games they vanish since it's not fun to talk about a team going nowhere :p

Hey man, I was here when the Astros had a record like that. ;P

Oh.

Oh I do believe it's betting time between you and one of our resident Cubs fans.

Well I am no Nostradamus, but I see the White Sox season going like this:

They finish in a disappointing 4th place, Sox fans complain and post Cubs memes on Social Media, and then they don't fire anyone because Reinsdorf is a complete moron.

So pretty much a repeat of the last 5 or so years.

Nah. There are new people. It was a dead year, we used to have a ton of posts every evening.

RIP pollo
What? MLB gaf made to 3 threads last year, which might be the most since I started posting here.

Someone should update the allegiance map sometime before April so I know if there are any new Mariners fans to commiserate with.

We should just bash all the newbies and get this thread banned then randomly post threads about random baseball stuff in OT to piss off mods.

Hang in there!

This year, we might win 68 games instead of 67!

The Yankees don't want their richest fans to have to sit next to poorer fans

Wednesday, the Yankees announced a new policy preventing fans from printing tickets at home. Officially, the reasoning for this was that there are fraud issues with tickets you can print at home.

Of course, the real reason is that the Yankees have a long-standing beef with StubHub because they have a deal with Ticketmaster. StubHub sells a lot of print-at-home tickets, but the team's official Ticketmaster-run secondary exchange only uses electronic tickets -- and also has a price floor to prevent tickets from being sold at below-market values.

Okay, that's some BS. The Yankees are jerks who are using consumer fraud as a veneer for a new policy that helps their partners make money at the expense of fans. Breaking news: A team did some BS stuff to make money.

But on Thursday, COO Lonn Trost spoke about the decision, and he gave an even more troubling reason why the team was instituting the policy!

"The problem below market at a certain point is that if you buy a ticket in a very premium location and pay a substantial amount of money. It's not that we don't want that fan to sell it, but that fan is sitting there having paid a substantial amount of money for a ticket and [another] fan picks it up for a buck-and-a-half and sits there, and it's frustrating to the purchaser of the full amount."

Trost then added a comment that raised eyebrows on social media because of its seemingly elitist undertones. "And quite frankly," he said, "the fan may be someone who has never sat in a premium location. So that's a frustration to our existing fan base."

That's some fucking elitist bullshit right there.

Fun fact, I got a police escort out of an empty row in the 300 section (upper deck) of Yankee Stadium in the top of the 14th in a rainy game in April because my tickets were for the 400 section.

Somebody tipped security when they saw you sit in the previously empty seats?

Yankees fans hate each other, perfect

I don't actually think the cubs will do quite that badly. though it's an easy bet that the cubs won't win the WS this year :p (though I will say for the first time in a while I wouldn't say that it's not possible they will win in the next few years)

the only thing I fully expect to see is cubs fans greatly disappointed with is Kris Bryant. Everything about him reminds me so much of giovany soto. Great rookie season but with a really high strike out count, the cubs fans putting faith talking about how he will get deals like trout and harper and will be a future hall of famer... to follow into this season where people looked at him in depth over the off season and now as the league adjusts that high strike out rate will bite him in the ass and he will become a guy that only hits .225 or so with 30 home runs. not horrible, but not a real star player.

a lot of the rest of the young talent on the cubs team is seriously good though, and I would like a lot of that just not a fan of what Kris Bryant brings.

Hey man, I was here when the Astros had a record like that. ;P

i stuck around here last season but I was also rooting for the astros for the fun of it after I got tired of watching the white sox :p

Well at least they haven't gone full Angels, they'll still sell to lower income fans, they just segregate them.

The Costco package. Nothing screams excitement like watching the Angels play a last place team from the back of the stadium with the whole family.

Eat it dodgers![/QUOTE]

not sure i would pencil in crawford for LF after the year ethier had

but the catch is crawford might be the closest thing to a legit leadoff hitter when he can stay on the damn field

he doesn't walk for shit but he's the only real legit base stealing threat

Suntrust Park might be finished by the end of the year. So thats something to look forward to.

and maybe we can get that #1 pick this year!

Honestly, I'm excited to see how guys like Mallex and Ender do, and to see who's the cream of the crop when it comes to our collection of young pitching prospects. The battle for the available spots in the starting rotation during spring training will be fun to watch just because there's so many guys fighting for them.
