I hate this new trend of football commentators infecting cricket. There are already enough shit ones without opening up the pool to even more.

Happy Rogers with back to back fifties.

I have to say I've been really impressed with India's pace bowling. Makes you wonder if they had another 100 or more runs on the board.

India's pace bowling is piss poor, they are missing their two top bowlers.

Whatever little pressure Ishant seems to be putting, Yadav and Aaron tend to release it all with freebie balls.

India's batting has been most impressive in this series so far, except in this morning session.

What kind of tom-foolery is going on?

Side question - I'm not watching the feed but seeing some pictures of the ground, I don't see a "408" here, was that only an Adelaide thing?

I actually have been impressed by Yadav's pace and he's been unlucky to have not got a few more wickets.

By the way Haddin....I really wonder if he's got enough juice to make it to next ashes the way he's batting.

Pace is useless without line and length. At least thats what I've been told since my childhood.

Cook set to be sacked as ODI captain, its a disgrace.

Changing captain now is a fucking joke, they should have either done it ages ago or waited until after the World Cup, if our plans weren't already a mess and a shambles, they are now.

Complete lack of respect for Cook as well. I would have no problem with him going after the tournament if we were poor in it, but I don't agree with knee jerk decisions this late. He's obviously out of form, but he isn't the only one, its completely the wrong time to do it.

Yeah, not sure how I feel about this decision so late, should have been done a lot earlier if they were going to drop him. Morgan as a replacement captain is pretty questionable too, his form hasn't been stellar lately.

Anyway, Ballance has been recalled to the World Cup Squad. Stokes and Gurney make way for Anderson and Broad too.

TBH I've always thought of Cook as a test cricketer. I'm a big fan of him (I'm a lifelong Essex fan) and honestly I'll be happy he's taking time off. As much as I like him, he has been taking up a space that would serve the team better with a more specialist ODI player.

Glad Ballance is back.

They've given in to media pressure because for some reason everyone hates Cook. He will end up being our highest test run scorer, he's going to absolutely destroy the record and people will still get on his back everytime we don't win. Its a shame, he seems like a genuinely good guy.

Joe Burns in for Mmarsh for the boxing day test, great selection. The selectors mentioned they were happy with Watson's bowling and that alone probably saved us from "The Big Show." Not sure about Burns at 6, rather have him at 3, but I can't imagine they will move Watson.

My XI (based on the squad selected):

Warner
Rogers
Shmarsh
Smith
Burns
Watson
Haddin
Johnson
Hazlewood
Harris
Lyon

I would not bring in Burns to play as three, he should be brought in at no.5 and given time. He is a good batsman but I am sick of blooding players at no.3, the most important position. Burns shouldnt be brought in as a specialist batsman and bat 6. He's too good for that.

Watson has to drop down if he is going to play as the all-rounder in Sydney. No. 6 could do him the world of good, potentially less pressure than no.3.

Eh I think maxwell gets too much shit for what is basically something out of his control. There's no fucking way that he is a no. 3 but it's not his fault that the selectors somehow see fit to put him there. He still need more shield games for me to consider him as a test batsmen and his form with the bat has been off for awhile now, but I rate his talent with the bat pretty highly, he just needs to learn about risk-assessment and application like steve smith did.

Remember at how much people used to laugh at the idea of smith being a test batsman? Of course steve smith has long since proven himself.

Bet there where some flashbacks when that bouncer hit, almost same spot.

yep, looked bad but luckily hes ok.

Yep, some of it is the selectors - putting him in at no. 3 with a license to try and hit the Pakistan spinners off their game. But some of it is also his bad shot selection - there is a difference between being positive and proactive, and just playing the wrong shot trying too hard to hit the boundary.

Steve Smith was interviewed after he hit his hundred in Perth and his message was he basically packed half the shots he wanted to play away and really be patient with waiting for the deliveries he wants. This type of patience is what Maxwell needs to learn, and when he does, he will be a very good long form player.

Gurinder sandhu seriously looks like he got the goods, but competition for paceman positions in the australian team is ridiculously heated right now.

Yeah but right on schedule gives away his wicket with a very soft dismissal.

Australia's bating is very frustrating to watch at times how they give away their wickets.

Watson then gets out after making a 50. Such surprise.

I'd hardly call being given out LBW to a ball you are forward to, that hits you only barely just in line with a bees dick's worth of off stump 'giving away', lol. I'm all for calling out Watto for his ordinary batting, but this isn't one such time.

Live I didn't think it was out, but that's the way it goes sometimes!

It's a soft dismissal in the fact the batsmen got himself out with his shot selection rather than a genuinely excellent delivery.

However with Watson it's also case of his perpetual starts and his inability to covert his 50's. This was another example of this.

Edit: Smith and Marsh fighting hard here. Some good bowling by India.

Just saw headlines that McCullum on track for the fastest 200. Spanking Sri Lanka.

I read that Astle still holds that record. I still remember seeing that innings and remembering the sound off his bat as he was smashing England to all parts of the ground.

Pretty impressive. I would have liked to have seen him break it.

When looking through the rest of the records I didn't realise Misbah-ul-Haq equalled Viv Richards' 56 ball hundred recently against Australia.

Pretty funny that now that for the first time in who knows when, the day finished on time, Channel 9 are scrambling to fill the final 1/2 hour that had booked before the news. They'll be talking about pigeons soon.

Pretty even day. India did actually genuinely bowl well. It's probably the best day they've bowled in awhile that I've seen.

They did. But holy shit their ground fielding was atrocious, lol. It seems they've let the cat out of the bag with the ineffective, predictable short bowling to Haddin this morning though. Kudos to Brad for his effort, too, make no mistake.
