Battlefield 5 retail listing at World of Games (Swiss), "tactical shooter in WW1"

As I've already said, WW1 does not lend itself well to the Battlefield series. If you want a WW1 shooter, you can always try Verdun.

How come? Planes, boats, crazy looking tanks in 1918, massive battles fought between 500 thousand germans and russians in the eastern front (and highly mobile ones, trenches were a western thing), guerrilla fighting in the Africa, very open spaces and man to man combat in the middle east. Even in the first months of the war on French soil there was battles with a very mobile aspect, like the first battle of Ypres and towards the end, germans were deploying small units, the assault troops, designed to bring the deadlock to an end.

It's just a matter of designing and research. By studying the war, is easy to identify such episodes . Just like everyone did with WWII, bringing always the same theathers to games: Normandy, North Africa, Market Garden and etc.

Even weapons. People don't seem to recall, but there was automatic guns in the period. The first implementation of shotguns in combat was saw during the WWI.

Again, it's just a matter of research.

WW1 with jet packs so you can double jump and dash through the air, is my guess of what will happen. Lol

Battlefield series still hasn't hit its peak these past few gens in terms of a futuristic playing field. They had that one 2185 on PC or whatever

2142. It's like 1942, but with a 21.

Interested in seeing another WW1 multiplayer shooter. Been a long while for me.

Verdun is focused on.....Verdun, it does not have the scope or anything of WWI.

I'd like to know how it doesn't lend itself well?

You had Boats, Zepplins, planes, Tanks, rifles, mg's, Light mg's, shotguns, all sorts of melee things from spades to brass knuckles to maces.

Then you have the maps. WWI was not simply fought in the western front (with the trenches), the eastern front never devolved into the trench warfare like the western front did. You had a huge amount of fighting all over the world.

Here's a quick video series that shows the scope of the war by the year, look at how faster paced and how much the lines moved around on the eastern front vs the deadlocked western front.

Thank you for this. Besides Korea, this is the most horribly taught war in most curriculum systems in the US.

I agree. Both launched and worked day one.

BF4 was at system launch being rushed out for these consoles that did not even have fully fleshed out SDK's or Firmware stability yet. But their second and third attempt this gen with more polished SDK's, even a RUSHED less than 2 years from design to game Battlefront both went off without a hitch.

BF3 was mess at launch and wasn't fixed for months. THe last gen versions of BF4 was broke as hell too. No next gen/SDK excuse there.

Thanks for these

So argue yourself to the past then, while the most recent two newest examples have launched working.

Hardline launched functional (if horrendously imbalanced), but BF4? DICE LA put together the pieces of an otherwise broken game back in 2014, but BF4's launch was horrendous. Nobody seems to remember how bad that game was at launch; it was unplayable. Entire servers crashed for seemingly no reason, progress wouldn't record after matches, and don't even get me started on the hit detection and broken killcams.

If it's alternate history to the degree Wolfenstein was, I'm out. Hopefully, that degree of "alternate" was the discrepency, but as others have pointed out, I'd rather have proper WW1 first before people try to mix it up.

It's gonna be capture the flag with guns and tanks. oh you meant single player.....who gives a crap about single player battlefield?

you forgot about battlefront. unless it's somehow exempt from dices track record because it has a star wars license?

Looks like we're over the hump. 100%. Too much for, still nothing against. Should start seeing teasers leading to the reveal at GDC any day now, probably next week.

Game Informer is going to have their cover reveal next Tuesday. Some are speculating that it could be Titanfall 2 given the recent leaks and because GI revealed the original. But they also revealed BF3 before its GDC presentation. And BF4 was also revealed at GDC.

They'll probably let Titanfall take point since it's the smaller of the two and needs the attention.

Battlefield 1915 and Titanfall 2 brothers in arms tagteamijg the holidays. Goings straight for Infinity Wards throat. WW1 and Mechs. Strange times.

Battlefield 4 Final Stand was set in 2020 - going back to 2016 is mighty suspicious.

Those would just be the map version. Say they were to remake Operation Market Garden for this game, it'd be called Operation Market Garden 2016. I believe it's the naming convention they've taken for remade maps.

However, this screams fake.

Lack of any original assets outside of a printed word document with extremely generic information makes this almost certainly fake.

Although I do like the idea of an alternate history past feeding into Titan warfare. I feel like Titan's were an idea that never really had the iteration to get it right.
