Speaking of Superman, and in the spirit of digging up old interviews, I saw this one brought up. George Miller on Superman. Actually, it's just from last October.

Sounds like he wasn't far off from what Zack's trying to do. Sounds Darker if anything. I know a lot of Superman fans are tired of hearing about him being flawless.

George Miller would have done better regardless of how he viewed Superman.

But I think Batman is actually the more straight-forward character, parents was shot, he trains and becomes the dark knight of vengeance. The end.

Superman is a bit tricky. Why is he a reporter? Why doesn't he take over the world? Why does he do what he do? Why does he love the planet so much? Why doesn't he just fry Lex from a mile way? Why does Lex hate Superman so much? Why doesn't he solve everyone's problems? Why doesn't he solve hunger? Why? Why? Why? These are themes that can explored forever.

Marvels is nothing at all like Kingdom Come. Snyder would do a terrible job of adapting it because what makes Marvels work is not the Ross visuals, but the humanity in the narration. It's about a reporter following the dawn of superheroes from pre-WW2 through the decades and providing a civilian view of the major milestones of the Marvel universe. It's really good but people don't talk about it just like how they don't talk about The Marvels Project. Because people have bad taste. The Marvels Project rocks too. Because Ed Brubaker rocks.
Disagree almost entirely. The pictures I posted can tell stories even without word bubbles. But I do appreciate the perspective of Sheldon, just as I do Norman McKay.

I'd like a movie that encapsulated a superhero's/comic universe civilian's life all into one movie. Trilogies/Universes are kind of obligatory now.

Wonder Woman could've covered the last 100 years but it's like she fought in WW1/Belgium and disappeared after that. Captain Kirk got friendzoned.

This needed to happen in the movie:

Just imagine that Lex isn't there.

How I despise that art style, lol.
It's different but it doesn't bother me. I guess I have an eclectic taste.
Yeah, i expected this, not him tackling a guy through a wall.
Yes, these would have been more suitable for him & lois.

Supes doesn't seem to have quite that kind of speed in this universe. That kind of stuff will be saved for Flash. In fact he already did it in BvS.
But they had Faora zooming around MOS, it they had done that people would have roll with it.

Yeah, she had it. Maybe she was a gifted athlete back on Krypton or something. :p

Still, with JL in consideration, Supes having that kind of speed would undermine Flash.
I hate, HATE that Snyder doesn't use slow motion to depict super speed. Maybe Smallville did it too much. :p

I'm 99% sure he'll use some slow mo for Flash.

Maybe :p I would imagine it wouldn't be a problem if you show he's clearly faster than Supes though.

What does it matter though.

Both create shockwaves when they move faster than sound. More destruction porn incoming. Speed Force can negate shockwaves

Neither can naturally time travel though. Flash was attached to some machine and armor. So Reeve Supes could take Cavill in a fight. Then he'd time travel to prevent the fight from ever happening.

Xmen quicksilver is the standard for live action super speed imo. Makes it humorous but also baffingly powerful too that everything is so mundane and slow to him.

Flash should turn out a lot better. Quicksilver's big scene was cool, but he's a comical character that kinda breaks the movie with the way they show his speed. Any sense of threat is removed with him as he makes it all look too easy.

I expect Snyder to capture the same sense of speed with Flash, but more dramatic. More of a kick to it.

You know, I've always been against OT bashing in here... but think they finally broke me with the super stupid BvS vs Batman and Robin thread.

This site can turn you against everything it seems.

Like at its worst, BvS is just an incredibly acceptable/mediocre movie with pacing issues.
I cant comprehend at all where people see a movie thats so bad that they would rather watch Batman and Robin. There is just nothing so bad about the movie to justify the hyperbole.

yeah that's what i want. ezra miller is suited to play the member who never shuts the hell up. and i want him to be hilariously over-powered. these are comic movies. suspension of disbelief always has to happen.

the way to stop him is to have him go up against a brick wall of a villain, have him distracted and slip up etc.

but effects-wise i think xmen quicksilver is the ideal. the way singer showed how he perceived the environment was awesome, and he was absurdly fast.

since snyder loves his spectacle maybe he can also have crazy lightning aftershock being the only thing people can see from the flash.

I'm excited to see him expanded in Apocalypse. My nitpick with practically every speedster in live action Has to do with the acceleration, momentum, and stiffness of the characters. Often makes super speed resemble time manipulation.

Weird reference, I'd love Flash to have a BTTF Delorean effect. He has a trail but he's so fast it doesn't appear for a second or two after he passes.

This is Neogaf where Chrono Cross is a considered a terrible game. Chrono Cross. Everything is either amazing or terrible. There is no room for middle ground.

Next time OT makes a BvS thread, don't go to it. Discussion is dead.

Seriously though, I feel ya. It's an awful environment to wallow in. Too much bile to get through and nobody is interested in even talking about the movie beyond lame potshots at Snyder and movie economics. That's why I don't even bother.

I remember all the times I've been told Batman v Superman is the worst movie they've ever seen. I recall these statements as my wife currently watches Bring It On: All or Nothing. I am now jealous that those people haven't seen movies as bad as I have.

I didn't say they couldn't, it's just not what I really like about it. Without the unique perspective in the narrative, the cool art is just a really nicely drawn "Best of Marvel" montage. If that's what the adaptation of Marvels is, I wouldn't care for it at all. That's my point. It would be pretty, but so's Sucker Punch. :p

It is ridiculous. I don't like BvS, but there are certainly great aspects to it such as cinematography, Wonder Woman, Batman, Alfred. Batman and Robin has no redeeming qualities except the ironic it is so bad it's good appeal.

Yeah something like the delorean effect would be cool and also maybe violent aftershocks of wind if he goes especially fast

After three years of relentless Man of Steel bashing - like it was actually the cinematic manifestation of Satan himself - nothing shocks me anymore regarding the amount of dog-piling the internet will do on a single film. I actually came around to liking MOS more as a direct result of how much it had been bashed by folks. Like, whoa guys, it had it's fair share of problems but it wasn't goddamn Superman IV. Chill out o_O

Getting mad that other people don't like what you do is pointless and stupid. Especially on the internet. Who the fuck cares? You're not forced to read every opinion or to reply to it. Actually letting it affect you is a character flaw. Learn from me, loyal fan of Michael Bay. The internet cannot hurt you! Complaining about other people's opinions just makes you look petty.

Darkseid is reaching from the comics universe, to the movie universe, to the real world to drag us down into utter misery.

This. I'd love to see Superman go full Quicksilver on someone on film at some point.

For me it's the hatred Dark Knight Rises gets.

I'm positive if someone made a "What's worse, Dark Knight Rises or Batman and Robin?" we'd still get the bullshit "DKR is bad bad at least B&R is funny bad" posts.

Let's be fair. Batman and Robin is only 2 hours long. The Dark Knight Rises is almost 3 hours long. If you dislike both and were forced to watch one, wouldn't you pick the one which wastes the less amount of time? :)

Hey you're talkin' to a dedicated fan of these craptacular turds:

FEEL THE WRATH YOU GUYS

The only movie I will actually fight someone over for disliking is Master & Commander. And this is coming from someone who's favorite film of all time The Fellowship of the Ring. Rip that thing to shreds for all I care, but don't you dare touch Russel Crowe's perfect, flowing blonde ponytail.

I thought we had that already? Wasn't a thread but I distinctly remember the conversation.

I like a lot of terrible movies. I'd be an awful critic, lol. I watched Gun Woman the other day.

Nah, B&R would actually win that worse movie poll.

Yeah, can't complain about his effects or the execution of it all. What Singer was going for, he nailed it. On the other hand, AoU Quicksilver was hot garbage in every direction.
lol. I've thought to myself for awhile that FilmGAF is pretty bogus, but whatever. Opinions and all that. It is what it is.

Cheer up Penguin.

The schadenfreude behind BvS has gotten pretty out of hand as of late but let's not pretend some parts of DC-gaf wouldn't have been just as insufferable with the chest thumping and horrible CBM wars bullshit if it had been better. There's too much of an "us vs them" mentality altogether.

Yeah. This place nearly went to shit after the movie dropped anyway, there would've been a loooooot of that if it proved the "haters" wrong.

That said, considering that one of those scenarios is hypothetical, and the other is actual, I know which I find more annoying :p

... nah, we'd be in cinematic heaven after a great Doomsday, BvS and CW combo.

I mean really all of this just goes back to those childhood DC vs Marvel fights that will never, ever, end. I'll admit my interest in the MCU up to this point has been fairly half-hearted, but that's only because the Marvel characters I really care about - Spidey and the X-men - haven't been involved.

Superman is my favorite superhero of all time, without question. However, it was Spider-Man that actually got me into reading comics (specifically John Romita Jr's run in the early 2000's). So I've been yearning for him to show up in the MCU to make me really care about anything that's happening beyond the events surrounding Captain America specifically. From what it sounds like he's one of the best parts of Civil War, so I'm excited as hell.

"Schadenfreude"

I've been seeing this word a lot lately but that is a conversation for another time.

Anyways, I sort of disagree. Sort of. While I do believe there would have been some chest thumping I bet you in your heart of hearts know maybe 3 individuals from DCEU-GAF that would have acted in such a way. There may have been a couple of outliers. Posters who none of us see much but I do believe it would have been kept to a minimum. If BvS had been well received I think the conversation about it would have died out much in the way the well received MCU movie conversations die out. Heavy talk for 3 weeks and then it fades. Only to be brought up again when someone sparks up a Marvel vs DC conversation about why MoS sucks or IM3 is secretly the best.

Places like r/DC_Cinematic and SHH would be disaster pits (much like they are now but for the opposite reason).

Dead

well not really...yet
One way or another we will still be arguing about Man of Steel 5 years from now more than anything anyways.

Maybe. Like Poodlestrike said, only one scenario actually played out and everything else is hypothetical.

My general predisposition though is to always expect the worst out of people on the internet :p

Haha, too true my friend.

Anyway, this time tomorrow I will be in the Civil War spoiler thread hopefully having some productive conversation.

I liked how the big kryptonian in the Smallville fight, who I should start calling Nappa to save time, would create a sonic boom effect when he dashed around.
