Valkyria Chronicles II |OT| Grind to get school credits which won't get anyone a job!

eh I spent the time unlocking some of the characters but then I realized it would be a waste to use any of them because they aren't really part of the story. It's better for a novelty after you finish the game to use some characters from VC1 or whatever

You cannot transfer stickers/character unlocked by codes between PSPs, even if they have the same profile. Once you transfer a save, you will receive a message about the time being different (even if you use the same card between two PSPs with the same User Profile) and that everything is being re-locked.

At least, that was my experience trying to use the same save file between two PSP systems.

Thanks for the heads up. Seemed like it would be pretty cool, but I suppose it's a novelty at best. I guess I'll just put in some codes for the choice items.

Thanks again!

Just finished the anime. I just say wow... man... Isara...

How does the anime differ from VC1? (alot? Except from Ramal.)

A LOT. If you've been reading the VC1 thread, you'll learn that the anime is absolutely terrible in comparison to the game. Mostly because the anime is so tropey compared to the game.

The 1st half of the anime did a good job sticking relatively close to the game, the 2nd half is chocker full of typical anime crap.

Took ages, but damn good game. One of the best on PSP. Good length, heaps of content, decent enough presentation of the story, straight to the point (I love that, I hate when games are too damn big running around areas that could just be a menu!)

Brother! Most people think this is just developers getting lazy, but I agree completely. It's one of the many reasons P3P is superior to P3.

Was VC3 announced/confirmed for a western release?

When I found this, http://www.play-asia.com/Valkyria_C...d_Chronicles/paOS-13-71-b9-49-en-70-421d.html, I felt really excited.

@radiantdreamer @Steroyd
It did felt pretty weak on later episodes. Will pick up VC1 soon.

So far no.

I am hoping for one because if they don't announce anything by mid-February I will pull the trigger and pay $70 for an import release (not that I wont buy the USA release, but I want VC3 NAO).

Welkin's grief after Isara dies in the anime wholly validates its existence. The game just skips a month.

I felt it was the opposite. First half is crazy animu Minami-ke Alicia, but after Isara dies, the whole series starts to stand on its own legs and establishes its own interpretation.

I thought I'd asked this here before, but if I am going to continue Valkyria Chronicles II, I will probably have to skip all cut scenes and dialogue. This is the firs game I can remember that's ever made me do that. The characters are that bad. Will I miss anything?

I was over at Kinokuniya yesterday and I saw that 2 Valkyria Chronicles II manga has come out in Japan. One of them is based off the game the other is based off Aliasse. Since I beat the game I bought the Aliasse manga, it is actually pretty funny.

It takes lots of liberties with the storyline (for example, Aliasse becomes good friends with Maguri first). They also put Maguri in center stage as Aliasse's close friend and the more dramatic aspects focuses on Maguri's fear of the Valkyria.

With Avan playing second fiddle to Maguri and Aliasse, I find the manga much more likable. Not to mention that Aliasse and Maguri make some damn good lead characters, at least much better than what I expected.

Wow, didn't realize how amazing Light Tank B is. Made quick work of the August story mission with the Cptd UT Turret equipped. Don't know why I wasted so much time with the Medium Tank and its lousy 2CP earlier in the game.

Barely used the tank in the game. It's nowhere as useful as in the first game. And since you are limited to 6 units in this one, can't have the tank in all missions :/

For me, the light tank basically took over the role of the lancer. I'd say it was worth bringing along to every battle. I felt... naked on the missions that I couldn't use my tank.

I still don't understand why she even ever had that outfit. It makes her look like a psycho, and she only ever uses the "whip" once, and that's just in an animated cutscene :/ I wonder if they heavily changed the story's direction after those clips were commissioned.

Do these get scanlated?

It's my copy, there is now way in hell I am breaking the spine and scanning it.

You need to wait for someone else who wants to throw away $10 to do it.

In the game, not sure.

In the manga, they definitely take lots of liberties with the storyline. In all honesty it makes it an enjoyable experience.

Basically Maguri and Aliasse are the two leads, I would have preferred Colleen (instead of Maguri), but Maguri actually kind of grows on you in the manga.

Oh no, not your copy of course! I mean the regular manga/scanlation scene. Did a search earlier, it seems most stopped at vol. 4 and lost interest. Unless the actual manga stopped as well.

Still playing with Valkyria Chronicles 2 since September the 11th. I just entered November en thus have 2 months left. While the game is still a lot of fun it feels like, starting from October, there are too many filler missions thrown at you now, you suddenly have a lot of paid missions and add random class missions to the mix. Usually we get about 4-5 main plus free missions a month, on October it was 7 and I might have done 15 missions on that month -_- November seems to have 8 missions so far...

Ps, Baldren was super easy or I might have been really lucky. The level looks like it could be challenging with the scope, amount of cannon towers and tanks etc. I tried capturing areas in the first turn but noticed that Baldren used recall as an order which revives all enemies, so what's the point in doing so? I put only a fencer on the area he was and the fencer (Morris) tried to get killed from Baldren twice, a sniper and 2 cannon towers. Somehow both towers missed/Morris dodged, along with the sniper and he survived Baldren as a mauler. On the second turn I killed Baldren with the help of Morris and tank B, Baldren dodged a few times but it worked in the end. I was like, that's it? Lol. Way too short! It must have been luck!

maaaaaaaan this game can be quite frustrating.

I'm in chapter november, and I decided to grind for credits to upgrade my doods instead of continuing with story stuff,

and it sucks when u gotta do a mission like 2~3 times when you only need one specific credit!!

yet the distribution of them is so random o_O

the game is still fun, but it could be funner!!

The random certs drove me nuts. I gave up on that and just used a cheat code.

probably custom firmware type of game genie stuff...

but I'm done grinding... I think I am happy with what I have now.

3 snipers (one regular, one AT, and one Elite)

a Fencer and an elite Fencer (maybe I want to upgrade the regular Fencer to a Mauler?)

a Commando

and two regular Mortars, but I only keep one of them in my current group.

I'm in Demcember now. hopefully I can beat the game this week!!

Finished the game 2 days ago and had a blast with the last 3 story missions. It reminded me of VC1 a bit for some reason, in a good way. Though, they weren't that challenging, the Dirk mission was the most challenging out of them. The last one went quickly for focusing on you know who and being able to afford losing some members for a bit. Using (elite) snipers worked to take out the radiator and my Morris fencer took it from there.

A lot of extra stuff came after completing the game that definitely makes it worth continuing your playthrough. I would definitely have if I didn't have a huge backlog and Tactics Ogre and YsI&II Chronicles waiting for me. Will continue with it someday...And looking forward to Valkyria Chronicles 3. Please, announce it for the West already!

If there were a CFW gamegenie that could unlock anime Alicia and other licensed character codes, I'd like to hear more :x

Yeah it is. cwcheat.

The unlock all characters code is messed up though - it even adds the escort vehicle and random troops to your roster and you can't get rid of them. I decided not to use that code. And if I recall, there was no anime Alicia in there for some reason. (I could be mistaken though)

I only ended up using the cert code because I didn't want to ruin the balance and just wanted to eliminate grind. I ended up sparingly upgrading my characters as needed, or as the enemies started upgrading.

I'm not a fan of Nendoroids to begin with (the Panty & Stocking ones notwithstanding b/c that's basically what they look like anyway), but this looks fine to me. What were you expecting to be different or better? She comes with her shield and lance.

I'm still not huge on Riela's two-tone hair.

yup yup!

I beat the game yesterday!!

this game is sooo freakin anime,

and the ending was so anime too!!

it's like yo we're a bunch of kids who spent a whole year killing motherfuckers and shooting them in the face,

the time for celebrations is now!!!

I really enjoyed the game tho... 44 hours and a ton of fun!!!

will invest in DLC soon!!

OK how the hell do you beat the obligatory March battle? Dirk or whoever the hell that is just posted up on the last transition flag and is wasting everyone I send through. Somebody help me!

DLC statistics (I have bought all released DLC so far) on Japanese releases

VC1

- Hard-EX, 300 YEN
- Edy sub-squad, 600 YEN
- Selvaria’s missions, 800 YEN
- Edy challenges, 300 YEN

Total 2000 YEN

VC2

- 100 YEN x 21 (too much to be listed)

Total 2100 YEN

VC3

- 2 x (600 YEN scenario + 200 YEN mission) released
- Another 600 YEN scenario + 200 YEN mission announced

Already 2400 YEN, I am pretty sure that there WILL be more coming, how much does SEGA want to charge the fans on VC3 ?

Hey guys, I just got this game from Amazon and I have a question about the difficulty. Just how difficult is this game? Since I started college, I rarely have time for video games any more... maybe a couple hours a week at most. I hear that this game can be really grindy, which is a turn off for me. I did play VC1, and I thought it was pretty darn tough at certain points, so I had a lot of trouble with it (still enjoyed it though!) Right now Im leaning towards playing this in easy, but I don't want to regret it later if it's extremely easy. An example of this is Ys: Oath in Felghana. I started it in easy because I figured Normal might be too grindy, but it ended up being extremely easy to the point where bosses required absolutely no strategy. Can someone who has played the game give me some input on this? Do I tough it out on Normal or go for Easy? Thanks!

Hmmm... judging from your current situation, I'd say you will be crying. Grinding hell, and if not, you will be slowly pwned to the point of frustration. 2hrs a week will not let you finish this game in good time.

Even without grinding, this game took me 67 hours to finish. That means it will take you 33 weeks to finish this game. More if you grind.

I wasn't aware that this game had an easy mode.

Really ? I thought it was a lot easier than the first game. Got A rank on almost all missions, first try.

Details on the OVA have been posted at Andriasang. If it wasn't clear by now what direction SEGA has been planning to take the series, it should be now (i.e. full on Otaku wallet rape):

http://www.andriasang.com/e/blog/2011/03/10/valkyria_3_anime/

2 different special editions, each with different audio commentary and bonuses, both with the same DLC mission
6000Y for 1 episode (or 4000Y for the standard edition).

Doesn't it just make you feel all warm and fuzzy inside?

Nah, I'm with him. This game is difficult. I'm still on December, most missions I've gotten a C. And I ended up acing a lot of the 1st game's missions.

VC2 is less prone to imbalanced features such as orders, scout rushes, and save/loading. Thus while in VC1 you could get away with loading Alicia up with orders or save/loading until someone procs Invincible or something and get an easy win, VC2 you may have to employ more strategy.

Also VC2's scoring system is more demanding than VC with more objectives and a score penalty for incapacitations.

That is why I also consider VC2 to be more difficult than VC in an objective analysis of difficulty - you can't utilize imbalanced features for easy wins, and the scoring system has a higher skill cap.
