The website tracking major Switch's availability across several online stores has updated. hiska-kun, time to translate :p
March 27

My Nintendo Store opens orders again at 1:10 and is sold out by 1:27. Every single other online retailer is out of stock. No news when more stock will be available, except Nintendo's official store which will probably have stock again from April 3.

I love all the talk about MH5 on PS4 would automatically increase sales in the west without any base to support it. If true, I suppose we will see DQ11 PS4 easily outsells DQ11 3DS in the west too.

What about the arguement about splitting the userbase? Its the same thing there, no base to support that either.

I would actually not be surprised if DQXI is only released on PS4 outside of Japan. I guess Switch too.

First they must date Arms.

Just checked that Splatoon got dated on April 2nd (Thursday) for a May 28th release.
If they follow the same logic and if Arms is releasing by the end of May as Splatoon was, they should announce the release date this week or next the latest.

Lol. Of course DQ11 3DS is going to sell the most on PS4 or Switch in the west lol. DQ11 3DS does not exist in the west.^^

That's my guess too. I doubt Square or Nintendo will bother about localizing a 3DS game in 2018.

If Nintendo takes an active part in it, I could see a 3DS/Switch release. But I don't see them being able to offer enough to sway S-E given how they very specifically said they localized all the recent PS4 DQ titles to pave the way in the market for DQXI.

Should I be worried about Koei Tecmo ? Musou Stars is a flop, and recently most of their collaboration bombed too. NiOh did fine but I doubt it's enough to compensate for all the other games.

No as they've had growing profits each FY for around 4 years iirc. NioH would easily compensate for these smaller titles considering it opened at 230k in NPD without digital and sold 1 million in a month. NioH could very well become KT's best selling game for a long long time (Iirc their best selling game of all time was DW on PS2 which sold 2.1 million WW).

If you combine all Musou collaborations KT has released maybe they'll come close to a Monster Hunter main title sales.
So KT is even worse off than Capcom! The latter can keep recycling a yearly game with still big hype and sales while the former is close to having used up all possible collaborations with big sales potential for recycling!

I like how that's the point you all keep harping on despite the fact that point was brought up when discussing why they didn't do straight multiplatform releases between 3DS/PSP/Vita and when talking about releases which only had local multiplayer. In which context it makes perfect sense.

The major point against going multiplatform with PS4 has always been that it remains to be seen how much they would gain and they would have to give up their sweet co-marketing deal with Nintendo.

Sure, but the point is that theres no hard evidence that we can look at to determine how things would be if they do this or that.

Yeah but conversely Nintendo helped with Dragon Quest 7 and 8 on 3DS.

Well, people who bought a 3DS and Dragon Quest VII/VIII will likely buy a Switch down the line, since they're JRPGs and handleds enthusiasts. Maybe they'll localize Dragon Quest Heroes I-II beforehand too.

[SWI] Mario Kart 8 Deluxe - 96
[PS4] Gran Turismo Sport - 72

I don't know anything about this new GT but this is funny.

And isn't FEE charting too low?

How often does Nintendo market multiplatform games?

More to the point if they are releasing on PS4 for Western sales then they don't want Nintendo to be the one marketing it, they will want Sony to.

I'm sure they'd love to have Felines dressed as Isabelle on PS4 too.

How often do they get the chance to do so in the first place?

With the rate Switch sells I could see Nintendo pushing Arms and Splatoon one month back from what could be the original target, if they think hype can still carry sales and want to polish them more. Mario Kart will define that.

Arms for June and Splatoon for August.

I don't think they will delay Splatoon in August, they will probably want to get sales before Obon. Arms in June is plausible, not due to strategic delays.

All the time. Nintendo doesn't even have the marketing for LEGO games.

It wouldn't even benefit Nintendo to provide marketing in this scenario.
How often do Xbox and Sony even bother/put much effort into marketing for Lego games? I was referring to the more mainstream games like COD/FIFA/etc that aren't on Nintendo consoles.

Also, why wouldn't it benefit Nintendo? Sony and Microsoft do it all the time and they still continue to do so and I don't believe that they're in the business of wasting money just to get marketing dibs. History has shown that multiplats can give the marketing partner a boost in console sales.

Sony co-markets all the Lego games.

Nintendo isn't Sony or MS and they only do marketing deals because they are directly competing for the exact same demographics in the exact same markets.

Nintendo's marketing deal for MH has been almost exclusively western focused so it wouldn't be wasted when Capcom is prioritising the PS4 for that market.

That doesn't explain why Nintendo wouldn't stand to gain from marketing a multiplat MH. They have an established fan base on the 3DS and software bundles could entice them while Sony would have to reestablish their MH fanbase since it's been like 8 years since FU.

Do you expect the Switch release to be based on the 3DS version? Otherwise I don't see why SE would pass on the Switch version, considering the localization work would be the same between PS4 and Switch. Except if you think Sony is helping the localization, but I don't really see why Sony would be interested in doing that.

3DS version, though, can only see that happening if localizing that version somehow comes extremely cheap. There's really not much of a reason for anyone to bring over a 3DS RPG in 2018. Nintendo had an interest to help bringing over DQVII and VIII to fill in some gaps in their release schedule, but why would they still care about holes in the 3DS release schedule in 2018. SE on its own wouldn't have brought over DQVII and VIII to begin with (probably for good reason, considering sales seem to be pretty bad) and that's not going to change with XI.

Why would Nintendo market it. MH wasn't that big of a seller for the 3DS in the west (most of their major first parties outsold it substantially) and they'd be getting the game anyway. What positives would they even receive from such a scenario.

Capcom would fail if they're only looking to sell Monster Hunter on PS4 to current fans in the west.
