U-Wing and Striker are shipping. Wave X is being split again like last year it seems. No guarantee it'll reach me in the UK but if it does I am HYPE

TIE Striker preview is up!

"Swarm Leader" seems like it could pair well with some TIE Adv. Prototypes running the TIE/v1 title:

Yep, and the new TIE-only modification might be useful for TIE Advanced Prototypes, too.

The other cards:

Kinda like a more customizable (would you like boost or not? would you like that third agility die or not?) TIE Interceptor, and cheaper, too.

The boost thing is kinda weird, making it mandatory if you take the ailerons

seems like something that will require a lot of planning but will be deadly in the hands of really good players.

edit - I wonder what happens if those Ailerons are all blocked? Can you still take the maneuver and just collide (and then execute your regular maneuver? Must you pick a maneuver that will work?)

Since the Aileron card calls it a "maneuver" you would just collide with something, then perform your regular maneuver as shown on your dial, then perform your action (as long as you didn't collide during your regular maneuver or you're stressed or whatever).

Aileron basically gives you two maneuvers in a turn, but the first one must be a one-speed bank or straight and it doesn't give you an action afterward.

I'm not sure I follow. In what instance will this work on a TIE Adv. Prototype? They can't equip this as their agility is 3?

Sorry, I mixed up the TIE Advanced Prototype with the TIE/sf in my head. The TIE/sf has only two agility dice and can take that upgrade card.

Too much stuff has come out for the game at this point. It's becoming beyond my comprehension.

So it seems everyone has a Dash and Norra list so I tried to come up with one myself.

Dash:
Outrider
PTL
HLC
Engine Upgrade
Kanan

Norra:
Alliance Overhaul
PTL
R2-D2
Kyle Katarn
Vectored Thrusters

99 point total

Same old Super Dash. Norra has added survivability thanks to R2 and an almost guaranteed focus every turn either through action or Kyle. Kyle also almost guarantees that she can use her ability every turn. I had originally considered 3PO instead of Kyle but there seem to be too many ways to slow the ARC to 0 agility right now, making him pointless.

Quarterly tourney kits now all have the new embossed symbol on them

Although not too sure why swarm tactics was chosen. It doesnt see much table time.

I'm working on a new Scum list and am finally giving in to the Shadow Caster, namely Asajj Ventress. I've already settled on the following:

Shadow Caster
Gyroscopic Targeting
Tactician
Black Market Slicer Tools
Rigged Cargo Chute

What I can decide on is Outmaneuver or Predator for the EPT. Outmaneaver is awfully tempting thanks to the ship's mobile arc but Predator is guaranteed to take effect. A chance at reduced agility or a guaranteed reroll?

Re-roll. At least with Predator, it will be always available with every shot.

Agreed, trust me when I say the caster needs all the help it can get with evade dice. 2 Dice in the current meta is almost a guaranteed death unless you get in there with the hard hitting rolls.

I would put PTL forward as a good option as well. You're going to be doing a lot of 3+ speed maneuvers for Gyroscopic Targeting, and most of those are green. Being able to move your mobile firing arc and still focus or TL, or to BMST and focus or TL, or hell even just Focus/TL are all great.

So for Christmas, I got my dad and my friend custom printed pilot cards for some of their favourite pilots.
My friend is pretty serious about Dash Rendar but said the art in his crew card made him look like a girl. I'm a huge Dash fan after Shadows of the Empire so I had this made for him:
LaLnWjW.jpg

My dad recently discovered Asajj Ventress and he's really enjoying flying her, so I made him this (along with a few other scum pilots I know he likes:

No one frowns upon custom cards providing you bring the originals. I made them as pride pieces for them. They seemed pretty happy with the results.

I made this one for myself:

I have to agree with AbsolutBro here and would go Push the Limit too. You are going to be taking constant green moves so you will be shredding that stress easily every turn and a 2nd action is far more useful and (more importantly) versatile then just rereolling an attack every turn. Of course ramming is more of a problem but a Shadow Caster is effectively a ship with a turret so you should be circling the enemies rather then punching them head on. Out of the two you put up though I would go with Predator, Outmaneuver is just too situational, even for a small ship, and any enemy worth their salt is going to know you have it and never let the Shadow Caster out of their sight.

Those are really cool. I especially like Asajj, as it's a character I usually despise on her representations but that art is great.

I actually made an Emon for myself (and to gift to my regionals/national/open... opponents), as I'm one of the few crazy guys that play him in serious events and I will never see an official promo card of it :p. Received the deck a couple weeks ago and I'm really happy with the result.

Hey they're pretty slick! I may pick Emon up for a casual game as I really loved the slingshot idea someone (I wanna say Doug Kinney?) came up with. Especially now that cluster mines are hot.

Is the layout inspired by the system open prizes? I quite like it. Did you design it yourself or use a template?

Oh, as for my cards, I made sure any of the art was either super high quality or from official sources. The Asajj image is from promo art of the Dark Disciple book. Which is set in the time period that Asajj had her Lancer-class Craft, The Banshee.

It's actually copied inspired on the layout Paul LaRue uses on his cards, with some tweaks to adapt it to my tastes (and make it a bit more different).

My first idea was using the official "extended art" layout like your cards so it would match Boba's promo card, his main wingman, but I didn't like the quality of the graphics I found so I decided to create one from the scratch. I took the idea of using Auberesh from the Open cards tho, as there's a huge chance I will go to the European Championship and I didn't feel to gift cards in spanish there (or in english in the other tournaments :p).

The art is a screencap of certain X-Wing Alliance cutscene, the game where Emon was created and an all-time favourite of mine. EDIT: Welp, it's not, my memory failed. I got the pic from wookiepedia, but I was 100% sure was from that cutscene :/

I've been tinkering around in a squad builder and am trying to build a good triple rebel regen list. The best I've been able to come up with is a TLT Miranda, a Braylen Stramm with Rec Spec and R5-P9, and R2-D2 Biggs. I think the only way to build a triple regen list will be to include Biggs and I don't particularly want to fly him. I guess I could fly a generic X-Wing and not need to be tethered to the K-Wing or ARC, despite them needing Biggs (they didn't really need Biggs at my last OP though when I flew TLT Miranda, Stress-Stramm, and an M9-G8 Tarn Misen). That would free up a couple points to give the ARC some Vectored Thrusters or a chela bomb to Miranda maybe.
I'm also not sure though that I would fly it anytime soon because I am torn on whether I want to build a multi-K-Wing list or fly Miranda with Dash or something. But I know Rebel Regen is something that gets under people's skin and three ships regen-ing could be pretty frustrating (although my experience with Biggs tells me that I'll lose him in the first or second round of combat without regen-ing a single shield).

If you fly Biggs you gotta accept that he is going to die. That is why he is there after all.
Giving him R2-D2 and integrated astromech can see him living for a bit longer but if you're not into the idea of him dying then you're best avoiding Biggs altogether.

I'm pretty mad at FFG, the OG rebel(and imperial) are all but useless cept for Biggs. Like you spend all this money and the OG ship's get worse and worse because the new ships keep getting better and better. It's been a long time now and there still isn't a t65 title. I understand that newer ships are supposed to be better so folks have a reason to keep coughing up money but this is starting to feel more like a money making scheme as time goes on.

This is really coming from a competitive point of view, if your casually playing this is less of an issue.

I don't think there ever will be - it's simply too hard to future proof a title at this point. They could just say "Not for use on T-70 X-wing or T-85 X-wing" now, but what happens when there are more X-wing models in future movies?

It would have been nice if they'd included model numbers on everything from the start, but that ship sailed.

They can easily slip in a title card in the next rebel ship.

If it says it's a title for "X-wing only", then it can be used on the T-70 X-wing. If it says it's for "X-wing only, except T-70 X-wing and T-85 X-wing", there's likely going to be future new X-wings that the title would be applicable for when it shouldn't be.

There's no good way to word a title so that it only works on the "base" X-wing and not any other version.

The possibility that it would work on all future X-Wings does make it a tad bit harder to balance future X-Wing ships, but that didn't stop them from releasing another "TIE-only" mod for Imperials. And there are a lot more ships that they have to account for with the TIE type than there are (or will be) with the X-Wing classification. They could easily put a limitation in there similar to other titles or mods that says "Cannot be used on a ship that has a native boost action" which then excludes the T-70. The new TIE mod cannot be equipped on all TIE's because it cannot be equipped on a ship with three or greater agility.

Just put t65 only. This is not hard. Yes it may confuse new comers but it is not that confusing.

Edit: Or say something like cannot equip if you have a tech slot.

I hope we get an S-Foil card that works like Pivot Wing.

Have it add a Boost or Evade when closed, and 1 red when open.

Cannot Equip if you have Tech slot.

If it's T-65 only, then they either need to errata all of the existing X-wing pilots (doable but very confusing to players), or you'll have a card that you can't use on any ship.

Or say something like cannot equip if you have a tech slot.
Too restricting to future ships (mandating that any future X-wings have tech slots or assume that the title is being taken).

This wednesday I must send the list for my first Regional of the season (Valencia, 120 players), and I'm having tons of problems deciding what to exactly use. The one thing I have clear is I will go with an Emon-Boba list. But that's it :D

Latelly I've been using this list with an overall positive record, although some sloppy flying by my part fucked me in a few stores.

Boba Fett (Scum) — Firespray-31 39
Fearlessness 1
Autoblaster 5
Dengar 3
Engine Upgrade 4
Andrasta 0
Ship Total: 52

Emon Azzameen — Firespray-31 36
Cluster Mines 4
4-LOM 1
Homing Missiles 5
Extra Munitions 2
Long-Range Scanners 0
Slave I 0
Ship Total: 48

The main problem I see on it is Emon and his not-so-much reliable attacks. As all the Firesprays not named Boba, he needs Dengar (or K4 if the other isn't avaiable) if he wants to be relevant outside the bombing. I could move Dengar to him (losing 4LOM banning Focus tokens on the missiles can hurt, but it's not dramatic), but with that config there's no decent crew for Boba for 1 point. Zuckuss could be useful in range 2 shots, but it would also criple my movility. I could always go without EU and use those 4 points in double Glitterstim or Glitter+Seisimc in Boba, but I'm not sure if it would be worth... the Autoblaster really likes the boost action.

So messing with the builder, I've ended with this:

Boba Fett (Scum) — Firespray-31 39
Adaptability 0
4-LOM 1
Homing Missiles 5
Extra Munitions 2
Guidance Chips 0
Slave I 0
Ship Total: 47

Emon Azzameen — Firespray-31 36
Cluster Mines 4
Dengar 3
Conner Net 4 (could be a second set of Cluster Mines)
Seismic Charges 2
Andrasta 0
Ship Total: 49

Boba becomes an all-ranges threat and Emon the bomb specialist he always should be, although with an overpriced loadout due no Extra Munitions (fuck you Wave 10. I want my Scavenger Crane). I still have 4 points unused, and it's driving me nuts. Engine Upgrade although it's not as needed and it would lose the lovely Chips? Glitterstim+Seisimc for Boba? Glitter for everybody? A decent Elite for Boba like Lone Wolf and maybe Seismic or Glitter? I have no effing idea :(

All it takes is a mention is a new FAQ entry saying "X-Wing ships that do not have a model designator in the title (such as T-70) automatically have the T-65 model designator." Lots of things are probably confusing to new players who don't know about the FAQ and try to fly older ships with experienced players or fly in an event setting for the first time. Doesn't mean FFG shouldn't attempt to fix things.
Too restricting to future ships (mandating that any future X-wings have tech slots or assume that the title is being taken).
Which still isn't a big deal.
They can give a future X-Wing model a tech slot knowing that it could take the "X-Wing Only" title/mod/whatever (and find ways other ways to balance the ship in the stats or elsewhere) or they could not give the future X-Wing model a tech slot knowing it could at least take the title/mod/whatever (and make up for the lack of tech elsewhere).
Not all ships need tech slots and if they found that the new X-Wing model needed a tech slot to be competitive they do any number of things, like a free mod that says something like "Modification: T-85 X-Wing Only, Your upgrade bar gains 1 Tech icon. You may equip one additional modification upgrade by paying its squad point cost. 0 pts."

I'll be interested to see how your new Boba/Emon list does, Nete. When I see dual Firesprays, it is always Boba/Kath. The recent increase in K-Wing popularity has shown that bombs can catch people off guard though, so the bombs on Emon could work really well.

This game has been changed so much and FAQ'ed so much that nothing they do to enhance the xwing title cards will be more complex than the shit happening in this game. Some cards in this game don't even have the same meaning anymore since they've been FAQ'ed to hell. no sense arguing with you though.

Last night I tested the list with Lone Wolf and Glitter... and although it was an hilariously terrible game for both parts, I think Glitter+Seismic for Boba is the way to go. Lone Wolf is nice, but is just not reliable between distances, the goddamn eye results and, well, using dice (fuck you double blank results).

The question now is going with Adaptability for his Elite, or mess with people mind and get Trickshot :D

Emon has always worked. He is just not an optimal pilot as it gets really expensive, the Firespray is just an all-around okish ship, and all the bombs are not a reliable thing. K-Wings solve that with easy access to Extra Munitions and a gazillion different bombs (so they can spam them to make sure some will work), and because they have fucking Sabine for free extra damage each turn. Add the 360, small base and Advanced SLAM, and it becomes a *very* good bombing ship. Scavenger Crane should solve part of this, as Andrasta will have more value.

Still, I've been using him since Most Wanted was released, mostly paired with Kath, and although suboptimal I've usually managed to compete with him at a nice level. Even when the only (damage) bombs available were Proximity Mines, Seismic Charges and Proton Bombs :p. Is just so fun to use.

Someday I will buy a Shadowcaster and use him along Asajj. Those two are an hilarious pair and, if my Vassal tests have any value, work really well together. Their main problem is it's not a double Firespray so it loses sexy points.

I would drop dengar for intelligence agent, since you will probably move first, you can use the pilot ability and IA to drop a really good placed bomb.

Edit: This might be a tad bit better. Intelligence Agent is key on this build

I can't remember the last time I used Intelligence Agent with Emon, it was probably 2015. Once I got used to his ability, IA became redundant with little to no use (mostly for dial bombs against higher PS, and even then many times it wasn't needed). Bombs efficiency problems come mostly of the goddamn dice and the low damage output in the non-dicey ones, not of me screwing up their drops (although it happens from time to time :p).

The list you've posted looks nice, although I'm not a fan of Advanced Homing Missiles outside Rhymer and Maarek. Expert Handling on Firesprays is something I've always loved, really fun to use. Shame Wave 10 hasn't been launched here yet so it's not legal, I *really* want that Scavenger Crane for Emon. I was actually tempted to go with my Norra-Thane-Biggs list until I could equip the Crane, but my body is asking for some Emon action.

I own zero scum ships so that was pure theory crafting lol. Bombs really meh but that changed with sabien for rebels. I still think IA is a good card to guarantee a bomb hit and help boba with positioning. But meta and all that has made any list with them fairly weak.

Happens in most mini games where you keep adding new content and have only so much gameplay variety. Also the small range of numbers they have to work with really limits what they can do with the game. It's a great game system, but it's not exactly best design for a game that is going to constantly have new product pushed on it. So we keep getting new stuff which is instantly tossed in the trash by players even without it hitting the table, or units that are chosen to replace the old meta.

Really game has kinda hit a struggling point on adding new content, they really are stretching what they can do and seems to be getting worse on making new ships compelling without killing off older releases

I agree with everything your saying. Problem is they went to crazy to fast. The new card that affects people's dial was the 'jumping the shark' moment. It's getting to be too much chaos and too much money. I don't think the competitive scene is going to get any bigger. It's just too much money to keep up. I don't do tournaments myself because it's all meta shit and I don't like flying half that stuff.

Gonna play on Monday for the first time in a whiiiile.

Whats a fun rebel list?

Assume i have everything except the corvette/heroes/uwing/ghost.

I'd be into buying heroes or uwing tho.

Yeah, I can't help but feel that they're introducing too much too fast. I don't mind something like the quadjumper flying backwards; It's a new maneuver but it fits within the most basic rules of the game just like s-loops and talon rolls changed up the game a bit. I think it was the reveal of Kylo Ren and his new conditions that made me think they jumped the shark.

So i ordered a starter set from Amazon and hope to play locally in a couple weeks time. What ships should i buy 2017 Edition? What faction is best to focus on? I will see if i actually like the game before investing further though, just want to get a rough idea.

What faction is best to focus on?

The one(s) you like more :p. Either on esthetics, either on how it's played.

Rebels is the synergy faction, Empire the ace and/or fragile ships faction, and Scum is in some middle ground while pulling dirty tricks.

Batteries the CRISIS!
Rebels = tank
Scum & Villainy = control/lockdown
Imperial = zerg rush and glass cannon

...generally. But all factions can do different things. They're all competitive. Really, you want to buy everything because there are upgrade cards in each pack that are useful on other ships for other factions.

So buy a little of everything and slowly build out your collection Get a couple big-base ships (like the Millennium Falcon and the Decimator), get a few small-base ships, get an aces pack or two. Basically everything is a good buy. Oh, except the M-3A Interceptor. That thing sucks.
