Does anyone here avoid killing bugs?

Oh yeah, since I was a kid I've saved almost every bug and relocated it inside. The only ones I'll kill are ants, roaches, fleas, silverfish, termites and various flies. Cause they're invading my home in a way that can be harmful and I've got to win the war. And I killed a black widow I found in the bathroom once because I was afraid if I didn't it'd bite me.

I just escorted a big moth off the premises by medium of glass and paper.

Spiders are delightful and may spin as they wish.

Anything else meets swift and remorseless death.

I wreck indoor pests like silverfish and ants. If there is a spider or some one-off bug like a grasshopper or something in my house, I let it go. Outdoors I let nearly everything be. Mosquitos and wasps get no mercy. The rest are fine.

Reading a book with my spider friend here on the porch right now.

If I think it is venomous I kill it, other than that I usually just grab a paper towel and throw it outside. I get weird looks all the time for that.

If it makes you feel better, animals don't get much stupider than bugs. They are like little biological robots with relatively simple programming ("avoid/pursue light, flee from rapid change in visual stimulus, pursue olfactory stimuli compatible with nourishment")

But yeah, I try to remove bugs rather than squash them, with the exception of stingers, biters, roaches, and flies.

I do yeah. I don't see the need to kill anything I can avoid killing...

Basically this. I used to kill centipedes until I realized how old they were when they're that big
fuck :(
, but other than that I've always been pretty good about not killing bugs.

Spiders are my bros.

That being said, I'm trapping some fruit flies in my kitchen right now because it's summer and fuck that.

The only thing I kill are White-tailed Spiders, mainly because if they get out of your sight they might climb into your clothes, etc. So far out of the 8 spiders that have bitten me, two of those were White-tails.

Everything else, I let outside using a glass and sheet of paper.

I once saw a kid stomp on a cricket and I wanted to do the same on him.

I ignore most bugs that find their way in my home but any species I suspect want to make my home, their home will meet a fast death.

Flys, ants and roaches... don't tread on me!

Roaches and ants fucking die. Spiders and house centipedes are cool

Everything else is on a detente basis

Not since moving into my current old-ass apartment. There are too many bugs to try and save the ones I'd normally leave alone most of the time (like spiders).

At this point I'm just destroying everything I see more or less.

Kill all mosquitos. all they do is spread ebola

and lord help whatever tiny fly decides to buzz real close to my ear

and roaches absolutely die on sight if they are seen indoors. i'll be damned if that motherfucker crawls on me in my sleep.

I absolutely avoid killing any species of animals, unless it's harming a person. I always get made fun of when I pick up bugs or guide them out of the house or car etc. living in Kentucky many around here are quick to kill animals that are a nuisance to their home or land. I understand why they do it, but I just do my best to find alternatives ya know. I do let my kitties catch mice in the house, but I usually try to capture it before they decide to kill it if possible lol.

If it's a bug I dislike and it's in my house I'm getting rid of it the easiest way possible (which is usually squishing it). There's some bugs I like though. Moths are welcome in my house. Grasshoppers and mantises are also cool inside. I've never had bees or yellow jackets get inside, but while I wouldn't leave them in the house for fear of the dogs getting stung, I'd do my best to get them out without hurting them.

What would you do if you had an infestation though?

I tend to just take insects outside if I find them. I generally like insects overall. I got a lot of funny looks at an open house a couple weeks ago because there was a bee stuck in the pool and I used a leaf to fish it out and let it dry on the side.

We live at the bottom of a hill at the edge of Boston where it's pretty woodsy for the city, so it's ground zero for awful bugs like roaches and silver fish (house centipedes, my partner's bane of existence). So I don't take any prisoners anymore. It's a war in here, gentlemen.

Sadly, I would have to resort to extermination. I'd feel bad knowing they are dying, but they would be causing so much of a problem and that there is no other option left that they would have to perish.

Yeah. I've always either relocated them outside or (in the case of spiders) just relinquished that part of the house, until they move. If it's unavoidable that they have to die (like a Mosquito in the house), I send in my assassin husband and leave the room, so I don't have to watch.

Depends on the bug.

I'll kill certain bugs no problems, like infestation of ants in the household, or mosquito trying to bite me.

Otherwise, if it's like a moth, or some other type of flying critter, I'll catch it with a cup, and release it outside.

Yes other than mosquito. They die if I see them.

Just had a moth in my apartment earlier. Wife wanted to kill it but I caught it in a cup and released it outside instead

Generally mosquitos and cockroaches are the only ones i kill these days, anything else i either leave alone or try to get it outside

Interestingly, I've started doing this the past couple of years, but only for bugs which I can readily identify as a fly, mosquito or ladybug. I can't take chances with spiders or unknown insects in my house.

I used to kill even flies, but now I try to steer them out a window. Not sure what changed on my part, but I found myself saying "we all only have one chance at this life" to myself and telling myself not to take theirs away if I didn't have to.

I kill the nuisances like mosquitos and potentially dangerous spiders, but i left the rest. I even keep a big-ass spider to eat the mosquitos.

I don't mind the flies. I couldn't kill any bugs just for the sake of it. I always try to at least bring them outside the house.

Mosquitoes are parasites and they are the #1 killer of humans every year. I kill them without mercy. Roaches get the same treatment.

I usually do. Like i try to push them out or catch and release. But if they keep insisting on not going out and become annoying then it pains me to have to resort to violent measures.

Mosquitoes are kill on sight though, and cockroaches as well.

All the time, been doing for as long as I can remember. Like someone else said, if I can get by without killing it, I will.

Only real exception to the rule is if the bug surprises me I may react violently (like spider crawling on me at night). heh

Most of the time I take it outside. Though it depends on the bug and a few other things.

We get some spiders, huntsmans, I usually leave those guys since they take care of the roaches and other things.

Depends on the bug and how much they're invading my personal space. If it's a cockroach. It immediately dies. Such is part of a cockroach's life cycle to be killed by humans. Nature demands this.

If it's a spider like a cellar spider (could be a harvestman, I can't tell the difference) that's like in the corner of my bathroom, I leave it alone. If it gets near my toothbrush, I smash it to bits.

I'll only spare Honey Bee's. But since it's usually hornets, flies, ants, spiders, ect that I encounter in my house I will kill them for stepping in my territory.
