No Man's Sky - Atlas Rises |OT| Nada, Polo and you no longer fly solo

Oh man, I've been thinking I should buy a new ship to get out of my dinky starter ship. I passed up a few promising looking shuttles back in my first system, but couldn't find anything that could match those now. Then, a computer in an outpost gave me coordinates to a crashed ship and well...

Does this count as jackpot? It feels like jackpot.

Edit: Oh man didn't have enough heridium to repair the pulse engine but in my despair I noticed a blue rock in the distance... Heridium! Yes!

The new quest line appeared to me after jumping to a new star system, then u shall receive an incoming message in you ship that starts the new quest line.

Tech slots are exclusive to put tech on them, u cant put anything else there, so better fill them with your tech mods to gain extra space in the general inventory.

Can you check if u have the recipe to craft the materials needed to craft an holo door?

I did all the especialists quests again, but i cant craft a holo door cuz i dont have the recipe for one of the ingredients.

Nope, can't build the holodoor. I don't have the organic catalyst recipe.

Not a bad upgrade, but it has a ton of broken slots which aren't cheap to repair. Phase beam is good though.

A little fluff between the ears never did any harm...

might not be the jackpot you think, those damaged slots cost money to repair.

So what's the consensus about the new galactic map amongst NMS veterans? An improvement or not?
I'm not really digging it (yet). Finding it really hard to navigate, really needs some fine tuning imo.

It sure does lool like a jackpot to me))))))))

Furthermore, in about 2-3 hours from the start of the game i've met an alien who gave me multi-tool with 24 slots as a replacement for giving him my shitty starter multi-tool (thanks bro! much appreciated!), plus just yesterday i've found a crashed fighter ship with 36 (!!!) slots so I guess this count for 2 jackpots in a row))))))

Can't find (or buy) any technology for my exosuit and multi-tool through which is kinda shitty, especially considering that i've spent 17 hours in the game already. Any tips?

so uh

anyone know what the heck the icons on the bottom right are? Just started it up today for the first time in...24 hours and those appeared? They appear during in game too? Also it started up windowed oddly enough despite being borderless?

So it's unclear to me how multiplayer in the new patch works. Does it just work automatically if you're online? If you and another player happen to be on the same planet at the same spot you can see each other's light orbs? Nothing else special has to be done to enable this?

On the ship purchasing screen, what is the new button in the centre? The one with the module-arrow-cogs.

Can you transfer upgrades to your new ship? Or does it breakdown upgrades into their components?

I believe it lets you swap between comparing the two ships' cargo and technology slots.

that's a really good upgrade! good luck repairing all those slots though you're gonna need a lot more money :) i just upgraded my ship last night too and spend about 900K on it. still to repair one slot. totally worth it though for the larger inventory space.

that's from the Twitch app, or Discord? one of them, maybe Shadowplay, nothing to do with the game

For some reason being in my base is now considered being outdoors by the game and it keeps draining my life support. And also when I exit my hovercraft I get flung high and far at large speeds. It was fun the first couple of times.

Well first planet I spawn on is a ridiculously hot one that is essentially burning me alive any time I set foot out. And my ship is 14 minutes away. And there is barely any fauna but lots of iron yay.

Question for anyone who has completed the story.

I got to the end of THE PURGE, and stupidly decided to refuse to reset the universe, now I have a quest "New Beginnings" which says I decided to explore, but the Atlas waits for me should I change my mind. Do you know how I can get back to the Atlas?
Do I have to complete the Atlas path or is there some way I can jump back to the ending?

Perfectly able to grasp the inherent value of the fishing game.

My only slight gripe with the game.

At the very start, if you're on a hostile planet, the game is pretty much restricted to a couple of minutes outside your ship because your heat or cold protection gets wiped out so quickly. This also means you can't really explore very far. Once you find sources of elements to keep things charged and then repair the ship enough to get it to come to you, you can really start playing the game.

I know it's random, but I can see why some players may have started the game, felt utterly constricted and unable to do much, especially before 1.3 and rage quit. Once you're over that hump though, the game turns pretty amazing very quickly after that.

Of course.

Still would like an option of moving some of your upgrades across when you purchase a new craft. Maybe limit it to spacecrafts of the same type or same class. At the moment it is so off putting to breakdown everything and rebuild.

Does NMS have a core game loop yet?
yet? :p wasn't the problem with the release that all it had was a core gameplay loop hehehe

it's the same main gameplay loop in terms of survive-explore-prosper... same core gameplay loop, but added supporting features that: improved player attachment, sense of progress, risk:reward, aesthetic variety, QAL.

My biggest problem right now is there is literally no Thamium9 or any way to create a power gel so I am pretty much screwed. Contemplating just starting a new save as its entirely possible I do find something but I'm just burning up generations and its getting frustrating.

Scan everything, some flora will have a secondary material property, a recent hot planet I was on had Thamium as a secondary property in the iron rocks.

Turns out there was some literally 10m from my starting signals post haha. Though I have noticed the drop off on scanned items is way shorter than when I played it at launch, has that changed in one of the patches?

Man, I'm really enjoying this game - way more than I thought I would. I know a lot has changed since launch but jumping in now has been one of the best experiences I've had in the past few years of gaming.

Even my daughter (she's 7) has gotten into it, although she has her own save in creative mode as I didn't think she would get as much out of the inventory management and collecting stuff. So far she's been having a blast building her base and checking out the weird aliens on various planets.

In the 30 odd hours I've played, though, I've basically come across utter shit for ships, and the few neat ones I did see were way above my price range. Some day.

First time ever playing and holy hell is this game overwhelming. But from what ive played so far I'm enjoying it and willing to stick with it.

Finally my diligence is rewarded! A class fighter, 38 slots.

You literally cruise around hitting right on the d pad.

It's what you use in battle to lock on to enemies, but incidentally, also locks on to crashed ships.

Seems like more of an oversight than a feature. Finding crashed ships should not be something that happens often. I think I'll just continue to find them the old-fashioned way :)

I then went on looking for drop pods. The new backpack slots are a nice addition and I have enough cash to buy them all if I can find enough drop pods. Is there any benefit to putting stuff in the tech slots, or is it just another slot?

Still trying to max my main exosuit but the new exosuit additions are just extra space. But given the extra clicking/button pressing involved I'd put stuff I don't need to access often like shields, emergency Plutonium/Thamium/Zinc/Iron, and mining resources.

so uh

Haven't noticed those icons before. The game starting in Windowed Mode instead of Borderless sometimes is a long-standing bug. I just Alt-Ctrl-Del, kill the game and start it up again.

Yeah, you should be able to just drag and drop your tech from the old ship/tool to the new ship/tool. Breaking down all your stuff and trying to find enough empty slots is just a meta game of tedious inventory shuffling. All it serves to do is waste a player's time.

That really warms my heart to hear, and I'm sure it would for HG as well.

Is there any way to turn off the beeping of the signal at the beginning of the Awakenings storyline? I decided not to start Awakenings until I finish my base quests, but now every time I'm in my ship it's the constant beeping, slowly driving me mad.

Can't remember but I think you need to open the quick menu and answer your communicator (new not-well-explained feature).

It throws alot early, especially when you see the magnitude of the galaxy map. The only time limit is your life support, which you can refill fairly easily and cheaply. Just ease yourself in at your own pace. You can spend hours on your first planet, if you wanted, before ever leaving it. Or you can just repair your ship and get out of there in 30 minutes. Do what suits you. Try to complete lifeform scanning on a planet. Try your hand at trading in system commodities. Work the mission board. Or follow the actually storyline of the game.

As some poster here recommended, you can fly across the planet surface, even boosting, hitting the select target button ('1' on the PC). This will target crashed ships as well, in a pretty decent range. Its still hit or miss, but substantially improves your 'hit' chances than trying to get a transmission tower or spotting them visually.

Just warp to a new solar system. I dont remember what kind of economy was the solar system, but i found one that the traders could sell around 2000 of thamium, plutonium, etc.

I swear, I've made 15 jumps to different systems and no one is selling Thamium9. I just got the Trophy for 30 jumps, at least... I guess I'll have to farm Th9 manually :/

Thanks, but I'm on PS4. And the quest tells me to
travel to a certain coordinate
-- I already answered the communicator in hopes of shutting off the sound -- so I guess I'm stuck with the beeping for now.

Hmm, Awakenings eventually leads to the base quests as part of the story, so I wonder how that would work. Maybe they'll just complete right away, maybe you'll have to redo them.

Go to a barren / low atmosphere planet and scan for red flower patches

Sadly, this doesn't work as well as it did prior to 1.3. When you found a Low Atmosphere Planet then, you were guaranteed to get a crapton of Thamium. Like, up to 8-9 flowers in one spot. And they weren't very far at all from each other. I knew I could get 2000 Thamium in probably 10-15 minutes, tops. Now you get a lot of Plutonium in those planets but the amount of Thamium is severely reduced, almost to the point where it's faster to mine it in space.

I am bummed because prior to update I thought about going to such a planet (had one in my home system) and stockpile a good amount to last me for ages (like, 5000-6000 or something). Kicking myself for not doing it. Imagine, 5000 Thamium is 50 jumps on its own, readily available whenever.

Unless it changed in Atlas Rises, barren moons can be a huge source of Thamium. Haven't really bothered with moons yet this playthrough so not sure.

Pro Tip:

- Struggling to find Trading Posts? At the Space Station, accept one or more of the Delivery of Goods missions then fly to the marker(s).

Right just went and bought it from GAME. Love the amount of content that's been added in.

I do feel a little bit bad though now with all the shit that got thrown at what's his name (the one who everyone calls a liar). Seems like they just didn't have time to do what they set out to. Great step in the right direction now.
