The interesting part is that Kamiya seems to be hinting that there are aspects of the game which aren't even revealed yet. He says that until it is officially announced on the game's site, he can't say anything himself, and then he goes on to talk about how W101 has 1.5 times the manpower and resources they put into Bayonetta 1. After that he says "please look forward to the announcement".
What could it be? Multiplayer? Or maybe the scope of the game is much larger than people think? So far all the trailers and previews seem to make the game look very similar. The transformations are pretty cool and the bosses look like creative set pieces, but I'll say there's definitely something missing from the presentation. It lacks a hook which makes people go "OMG I NEED THIS" like some of Kamiya's other games...
Lol.
Relevant consoles have done fucking fantastic for Platinum Games all these years, excellent post.
Now that was shameful. They land a deal with one of the best directors in gaming and his game ends up being shown off in a post show interview on GameTrailers while Nintendo finds a way to make room for a port of Batman: Arkham City in their conference.

Multiplayer was on the floor for people to play I think. I don't think it demoed very well.IIRC, Iwata announced 5 player multiplayer at E3, though.

Nintendo has yet to market Wii U.
Nintendo started their Wii U marketing campaign last week on Japan, all these games come a month later in America so we can assume they are going to start marketing Pikmin much later than in Japan. If we don't see TW101 ads shortly after Pikmin is released then we can say Nintendo doesn't care.
Bayonetta 2 and W 101 are going to sell much much worse than Vanquish, Bayonetta and MGR, i can promise you as much.
Did they share any details? Are there specifics? See, that's the problem, saying something exists doesn't matter if you're not going to really talk about it.
And it would sure as hell be more productive to maybe, say, tell someone about #TW101 then blowing wind on GAF as to whether it will sell.
And it will be a little less than a month and a half before the release in JP. You can't have a high profile developer on a game and NO ONE around the world knows what the game is supposed to be. Especially retailers.I just realized Pikmin 3 is out next week... He shouldn't expect any marketing push until 2 weeks after Pikmin 3!
With or without marketing we all know that this game will fail and not because it will be a bad game. I can't believe they put more effort in this than Bayonetta, it's time for P* to approach games in a different way or nobody will want to work with them despite their talent.
It would be a great shame if this game was sent out to die, I'm probably looking forward to it more than any other 2013 release.
However, when it comes to sales, Minami confessed "I'd probably rate it as a C or even a D."
Every additional player requires a pro controller, and I'm fairly certain it is local only. So...seems like it would only be available to a pretty limited subset of people even within its niche.Did they share any details? Are there specifics? I can see MGR since it's a game in a very popular franchise. The other two? We'll see I guess.

To be fair, I don't really get the game either. It's like some sort of RTS action game? I'm not sure if you can solely blame Nintendo on the confusion, the developers can also push their games in their own ways. Though perhaps Nintendo has restrictions on Platinum talking about their game, so maybe that could be the cause for concern.
Still, they were pretty silly to spend 1.5x Bayonetta on this game of all things. I mean as said, maybe theres some big unveil where we all go "holy shit", but I find that pretty hard to believe.
The problem with Directs is that they are basically targeting the people who will probably already know about the game, or have already decided to get it. It's internet marketing, which is cheap and replies mostly on word of mouth. That doesn't help at all with the masses, or with general awareness.

You are part of the problem man
Not sure why Kamiya is talking about this on his twitter account, he should be discussing this with Nintendo.
Platinum games have a history on other consoles, you know. That history reveals that their sales aren't normally exactly COD-level.
Got to love the stealth port begging in W101 and Bayonetta 2 threads though.
Yikes, the developer complaining publicly about advertising before the game can't be a good sign for Platinum and Nintendo's relationship going forward.
I know 0 people in real life with a Wii U who am I going to tell? D:
There is no wrong horse. Nintendo paid them to develop it. It's not like Platinum is making a loss on it afaik.Meh. It's more a case of not wanting to see a quality dev go under from successive bombs because they opted for exclusivity lock when backing the wrong horse. Personally I'm largely indifferent to either title, but I'd probably pick up one of them on another system specifically to see them live to fight another day. I've done so before with certain other devs and I will no doubt do it again. Need to take the long view with these things. C'est la vie.
What I am hoping Nintendo does is when the game get's a little bit closer they give us daily tidbits about all of the different game play features and content. If they do it right it could be a decent marketing push alongside other common marketing strategies. I really think the only place TW101 would even see an extremely modest success is a Nintendo console.
Local only isn't that surprising, but what sort of multiplayer content is there? I guess we don't know much other than the multiplayer footage they kinda sneaked into the first trailer. It looks more like competitive party game stuff than actual co-op or anything.
