Got some of the DLC Personas yesterday and was just wondering, what's the maximum amount I can carry? I kind of hoped there'd be a bank or something where I can store them, kind of a shame I can't go HAM on the DLC.

Obviously if things quoted back to me are spoilers try and keep them as light as possible.

So I've heard overwhelmingly positive things about this game so thought I'd check out some snippets of Let's Plays on YouTube to see if it's for me or not. According to most reviews it's basically the second coming of Christ.

Shit, there is a lot of dialogue in this game, just reams and reams of the stuff! Like, I kept skipping through to try and find some gameplay but it was always yet more conversation. Conversation after conversation...

I'd ended up skipping through about the first 7-8 hours and was STILL seeing tutorial prompts too! Is this game for real?

Yeah, no thanks. I tried P3P years back on the PSP and heard that they'd cut out a lot of he busywork from the original but I still felt like a was playing the most boring drawn out intro after 5-6 hours. Is it an intentionally banal high-school sim? A tedious copy-paste dungeon crawler? One of those weird Japanese dating sims? Just a 60 hour tutorial?

These games seem like anti-fun to me, I can't abide relentless dialogue in games. I'm genuinely surprised they've gotten such positive reviews, the art style is nice I guess but man they're so dull.

Instead of being surprised by something youve not played, you rather go and look up someone else playing through it to get a wrong impression of what the game is. Congratulations, you done played yourself.

PALACE 7 SPOILERS

is there any reason not to send the calling card for Shido as early as possible?
I knocked out his Palace the first day I could

Just fused this guy.

If I decide to play through NG+, he'll definitely speed things up. He's immune to every type of attack except Fire (which he resists) and Gun, which I'm not even sure enemies can use. Hassou Tobi is the strongest attack in the game (deals 8x light physical damage to all enemies), and Arms Master means it uses half the HP. Charge makes your next attack do 2.5x damage.

Could somebody please help me urgently? I'm pretty sure I'm at the end of the game.

I'm currently in the Velvet Room, and need to find my teammates. However, it's 1:25am where I am, and I haven't been able to save the game for ages. How much longer before I can save? Or should I cut my losses and shut the game down now and just redo stuff again tomorrow? I don't want to be up all damn night if I can't save soon.

IIRC You can save
After you help all of your allies or right after you leave the velvet room

Well I´m currently at the start of palace seven, and having gone though the whole
Traitor reveal
and
breakout plan reveal
, that happens between November 20-22, all I can say, WOW!!!, I was not expecting to get mind blown in such an espectacular way, but even with all the care and time the game puts into explaining everything there are still a few gaps tate are not filled and are kind of driving me crazy.

1.
What happened to the briefcase that was supposed to be holding Niijimas´s treasure? We see Joker holding it at the end of the animated casino scene, and then nothing. Makoto says something like "we´ll retrieve it on our end", but, does that actually happen?

I know that was supposed to be all an act since they couldn´t actually take out the treasure because that would´ve destroyed the palace, and they needed to use it for the whole "fake assassination" deal. But, since Joker didn´t had it on him when he was captured, wouldn´t have that raised some suspicions from the police? Maybe they weren´t interested in recovering the treasure and were just following the order of capturing Joker but I don´t know.

2.
I really needed to see how the police became aware of the whole "suicide" deal at the police station. Niijima talks about a coroner working with Shido and Akechi, who emitted a false death certificate without even checking the crime scene, but the rest of the police force couldn´t go look for the body? Niijima again says she made sure no one would for the body on the morgue, but I wanted to see how she actually made that, and more importantly how did she get Joker out of the Station?

Do anybody else share these same doubts? Or am I just overthinking this a little too much?

Maybe Atlus was right to prevent streaming...

Just finished this game. Super good. Got way more attached to my friends than I thought I would. I don't think I'll ever want to play through it again because I just don't think it would feel right, like the way I experienced it is the way it should all go down in my mind. Although maybe that will change with time.

Any good spoilercasts out there?

1.
The only reason to take the fake suitcase was to trick Akechi. Akira probably just got rid of it after splitting up, as it wasn't needed anymore. The police have no understanding of the specifics of Palaces/treasures, so they'd have no reason to be aware of it.

2. I think you're overthinking things.
All Niijima had to do was say that she moved the body to the morgue, or that she had somebody else do it. Shido/Akechi would have no reason to question that; it was only the cause of death they had to hide, not the death itself.

Perhaps he's wondering why someone would shoot a man before throwing him out of a plane.
For fan of the series, are the OST for any of the other games this good?

I only played P3P and found it ok, is the OST for 4 as good?
P4's OST is closer to P3's than it is for this game. I still think it's pretty amazing though, the boss themes especially.

, we
Code Geass
now? I should have figured this out from the fact that Akira's JP voice actor is Jun Fukuyama.

My only fear though right now is that
Akechi is still one step ahead of everything and is going to Okumura Shido so hard.

Just gained access to Palace 7. Which of the following social ranks should I focus on?

Sojiro
Futaba
Yusuke
Shinya
Hifume

Will I have time after the palace to finish them?

if you finish Palace 7 with as few days as possible, and if your confidants are around level 7, then you have a good chance to finish.

I'd focus on Hifumi and Shinya because both of them have very useful level 10 abilities.

So I am maybe stuck and for sure banging my dang head against the wall that is the
Okumura
(5th palace) boss battle. Isn't this guy supposed to wait a turn before pulling of his insanely powerful
big bang challenge
he keeps doing with no warning so I have zero time to guard. :( I am only playing on normal and am still thinking of restarting to grab a persona that has defense up for everyone in party because even with attack down that move just flat out wreaks your shit if you are not guarding.

The only thing I can think of is I am missing the order command, will try again tomorrow or later tonight if the wife isn't on netflix. I just needed to vent and calm down, sorry gaf.

Edit: Yeah was missing the command that came right after he focused because ironically I was focused on the focusing lmao

This guy is so far the hardest thing I've faced in this game because of that attack. I beat him on the second try with 3/4 characters dead and very little health left on the protagonist. For some reason I'd swear that last sliver of his health is 500+ more HP than it looks like so he just wouldn't go down. I believe the attack in question is actually Nuclear so if you have a persona equipped that resists or absorbs , it'll help. The closer to death he gets though, the faster it comes.

Only recommendation outside of that I have is , debuff the bosses attack power whenever you get a chance , you might also try the "completely deflect a single magic attack" ability that Haru eventually learns , defensive buffs on your party help too but you have to be defending at the same time or you'll nearly get wiped ... combine that with the frequency you have to deal with the attack as he's near death and you pretty much have to get lucky with damage before the second or third Big Bang strike or you'll probably go down hard.

Thanks it helps to know I am not the only that had a hard time with him, but my biggest problem was I just was not paying enough attention, once I did that the fight was tough, but nothing too stupid.

I just picked this up yesterday and put five hours into it. I held back on this a little because of the other long games that came out at the time, as well as hearing about the localisation issues. I got it on PS3 because it was on a pretty deep sale; luckily the game's visuals are so colour-driven that the resolution doesn't really hurt.

I just got to the point where the game lets you choose what to do with your afternoons. Oh man it feels good to be playing a Persona game again.

Just finished palace 6 and all of the resulting stuff. Damn, this is some game. I died to the damn boss twice because I didn't properly prepare for the super move. And the damn fight takes so long. But it was still good.

Aftermath spoilers:
The resulting stuff was awesome. I was totally hooked because I really had no idea what was going on. And it was cool to see it unfold.

Although if I can nitpick a bit
Everything up until they meet up back in LeBlanc was superb. And whle I appreciate that they literally explained every single detail, it got a bit tedious towards the end. We were going on an hour and a half of pure explanations, I feel like 15 minutes could have been cut from the end of the palace to finally getting out of the cut scenes. Especially when after you sit through all of that the two villains decide to rehash their plan to eachother purely for the benefit of us. They would have zero need to do that because they both already knew. It came across as pretty awkward.

Amazing storytelling overall though. Can't wait to see what's next.

I've been working on the Passionate Listener trophy to get it out of the way, running around mementos trying to get different status effects. I keep having a hell of a time to get
crow
hit with despair.. It seems they always target MC. I finally get despair put on him, mark it off on my notepad, and they hit MC with it anyway.

So I'm sitting here a little annoyed waiting for both party members to die so I can try it again, and then Passionate Listener pops after the Joker death dialog.

Just about to begin the fourth palace and I'm at 90 hours. The hours just fly by when playing. I am having such a good time with this game. It's on par with 3 and 4 at this point, IMO.

Reached the third section of palace 5 before calling it a day.
Are the
timed
sections the reason people hate it?

Damn, 90 hours at the start of Palace 4? It's gonna take you 200 hours at this rate lol. Glad to see you're enjoying it, I'm having a blast as well. 70+ hours in palace 5 right now.

The penalty in game is negligible. It depends how good a person you are IRL.

I romanced Ann, that was my intention from the start, and I've maxed another female confidant after that but turned down the romantic option since it felt like the right thing to do lol.
Is there any reaction from the previous partner when you hook up with someone else?
My plan is to have Joker stay with Ann through the whole game but I'm definitely going to have a hard time turning down Makoto lol.

^ Yeah, my friend said he beat the game in around 80 hours, but he was playing on normal.

Well, I'm on hard and tbh I don't feel like it's slowing me down at all, still feels too easy to me, I have a ton of experience with SMT though. I've died 4-5 times until now. At the rate I'm going through dungeons I don't think I would've saved much time on normal.

Good to know I'm not the only one with an incredibly inflated playtime. lol
67 hours here, about to finish palace 3. I did leave the game on standby on a few occasions though.

So far I'm freaking loving these dungeons on Hard mode. They're the most fun I've had with an Atlus game since Nocturne. I was soooo close to one-shotting Palace 3, but alas. In retrospect I should've tried to abuse one of those Dormina high fairies.

What's the best way to New Game+ here? First runthrough I did without any aids outside of Fusion calculator and convo guide (got all but a couple confidantes to Max), and for this one I'd like to go ahead and probably just Platinum it with occasional reference to a walkthrough but also wouldn't mind having it be at least somewhat challenging (though it doesn't look like any trophies are behind skill levels afaict, so I guess that would just be for fun).

Game is going to be a joke difficulty in NG+ no matter what really.

I used a convo guide on NG+, but that was really it, and honestly wasnt needed based on how many days I had left over. Temperance and Fortune being maxed from the first playthrough make maxing all confidants really easy on NG+ once you get them to rank 1. However if you didnt get those two to 10, make them your first priority in NG+. besides that, make sure to get all the library books read. The rest of the books and games come easily.

Yeah, I've been playing SMT games for many years. I have been spending tons of time building the perfect personae and capitalizing on all my trips to Mementos.

Yeah, it's great fun. And it's great to have pre-made dungeons again. I was able to one shot the third palace though. :p But it cost me a lot of SP sodas. I wish the later dungeons were a tad tougher. The first dungeon was definitely the hardest. But this game is such a hoot.

Thanks! I actually got those maxed the first time so should be in good shape. I do have to do little stuff like definitely get all the books and all the sodas too. Also some of the secret enemies. Sounds like difficulty is irrelevant which is kinda too bad I wouldn't mind a slight challenge but oh well guess I can focus on the non-fighting stuff more. Oh and also fusing the remaining 25% of personas.

Wow fuck that. 12/24 and I just got a party wide brainjack after numerous cutscenes and battles so I got to watch my party kill each other for 3 turns. All progress gone. Dkjejsmke

Quick question, are there any more benefits from meeting with teammates who already have MAX confidant rank? Are there any more
persona transformations
(slight gameplay spoiler) like in P4?

no unfortunately, there really isn't anything. You can get a few unique date scenes based on where you take characters, alongside room decorations. However thats it.

What's the deal with (Fortune Confidant lv1 spoilers)
Chihaya's ability to increase your stat gains? Because the amount of musical notes I gain from the selected stats remains the same even if I pay her to increase them that day. Is it still improving their growth rate even if there are no visual cues?

Also, I think the third villain started out really promising but was sorely underdeveloped by the end, you barely even get to interact with him or see the direct consequences of his actions. Bit of a missed opportunity compared to the first two villains (specially the first, whose arc and confrontation remains the most well executed so far).

I don't think anything happens right when you hook up,
but you get an additional scene at the end of the game
