How G2A stole my money and refused to give it back to me.

Hey there, I feel like this is a worthy thing of posting here, the bold bits are important details.

I understand that I'm at a certain risk by using the grey market however this isn't just another "I bought a key and it was a scam" thing, this is directly connected with how G2A has been treating me as a consumer over the past 24 hours.

Dying Light was on sale yesterday on their website and I thought that I would try and purchase it via mobile, there was a mess-up and it turned out that the full amount couldn't go through, I am on a pay monthly contract and I had more than enough of my daily limit for this to go through.

So I went onto their live chat and was told I would get a full refund before the game went off-sale and the first customer service rep was fantastic, helpful and friendly but I didn't get the refund so I sent a message to another customer service rep and spoke/argued/got frustrated with him over two hours for him to tell me to contact Zong and say it's ok, and that I would get a full refund whenever they got around to it.

I left it at that and went to bed, It was about 11:30 GMT by the time I finished this chat and woke up today and immediately contacted Zong (the people they have their mobile service with.) and they told me that I had to contact G2A, so I was being sent in circles by both companies.

I submitted a ticket and I never got a proper response from their "specialists" so I tried to do a live chat again and I was IP banned, using a VPN I managed to talk to someone directly again who said because of the service they use for their phones that I wouldn't be getting a full refund.

After being told multiple times that I would be refunded the full amount I've been given much, much less than I was expecting to get.

I'm about to start a charge back with my phone provider, both Zong and G2A are not helping me and seem completely happy taking my money without being helpful.

TL:DR - I tried to pay for a game on G2A via mobile and got burned, now I'm in the middle of being messed around by G2A.

So what I'd say is if you do want to use these websites, don't use mobile payments guys.

Edit:

I have a response from Zong, they appear to be helpful but seem to be leaning more towards me getting a refund that is still useable on their website.

Even then they cannot confirm that I would be getting a full refund.

Edit 28/02/2015:

I've flat out been told by them that unless I do a charge back they are happy to keep part of my money unless I do the charge back.

So how is that acceptable? They are basically admitting that they will steal my money.

As shown in this screenshot.

Edit 01/03/2015:

I contacted my phone provider again this morning and the charges have appeared on my bill however they are unable to do a chargeback and have forwarded me to another company who deals with the legal side of these kinds of situations.

If you are having problems like this and live in the UK these are the people to contact.

Frustrated, sent angry messages to both Zong and G2A, Zong were incredibly helpful before and sent me messages up until Friday but I haven't heard since... I guess you can put that down to it being the weekend.

Edit 03/03/2015:

Latest news.

G2A seems to be ignoring both my e-mails and Zong, who they work with for mobile payments.

Although today Zong e-mailed me and they have been nice enough to give me what they call a "one time courtesy refund" which will cover all of the money I'm owed.

Similiar thing happened to me, they sold me an expired Metro 2033 humble key,

then kept me jumping through hoops for a week before I just chargebackedthrough paypal,
they didnt contest it as they didnt even respond to it and I got my money back in about 3 weeks give or take.

They're a monumental pain in the ass, downright condescending when I wanted either a replacement key or refund and outright awful at customer service.

Ive had no problem with other grey market key sellers like GMG and CJS i will never use
or encourage anyone to visit G2A ever.

Wasnt even a lot of money they were just complete assholes about the whole thing

Okay, I'm not the only one that is thoroughly confused. You pay through your mobile contract?

Yes, you can use your phone to pay for things and I figured I'd give it ago as I normally buy Rito points without any problems at all.

My provider seems on my side and able to do a chargeback however so I am going to do that tomorrow.

G2A is terrible - I've learned thru experience that even though the Steam version might cost me a couple of extra $, it's better than stressing over stuff like this.

I see all sorts of streamers and Youtubers have G2A sponsored links, too. That's shady as hell.

The internet are becoming aware of G2A's issue. It's only a matter of time.

Youtubers and Streamers are driven by social media, so when one of their friends gets rid of G2A, it'll be a domino effect.

I'm confused at why someone would buy a game with their mobile phone contract....seems weird.

Next time use PayPal or credit card.

GMG isn't a grey market key seller, it's a legit store. As for the rest... maybe it'd be wise if you stopped using key resellers altogether.

Next time use PayPal or credit card.

Because it's easier to do it this way for me and pay for it at the end of the month, like a credit card, than it was any other way.

Normally I would immediately use Paypal however you have to consider that the reason they give this service is probably so kids can use their mobile phone credit to buy games.

It's a good idea when it works but when their service takes the payments in "segments" as opposed to taking a flat fee it just screams out for something like this to happen.

GMG is legit as fuck, they have publisher support.

Check it

I've been burned by G2A before, and it took 2 weeks for a refund. It was only $8 but I've been forced to make it a last resort if I can't find any deals and even then I would be hesitant to buy.

About it being easier...

I recommend buying from Steam or somewhere similar anyways, you never know when the keys will be found to be illegitimate with these places

Hopefully. I used to watch a pretty popular streamer and dude would pimp G2A all over his channel and if anyone in chat ever brought up their shady history they would get called a retard and be banned.

I also remember another say that after his channel got a good number of viewers G2A would just bombard him everyday with emails and PMs asking to be sponsored.

The day that Twitch streamers stop supporting these assholes will hopefully lead to them shutting down.

I got called out by Beyond The Summit when I criticized their choice of sponsor...

Their support tickets are quick to respond but when you ask about the amount of money that I want to get refunded they just don't respond to it.

I can't wait to be able to do a chargeback on this, it's so sad that I'm having to do it.

Paying for things by your phone contract is asking for trouble.
G2A is a part of kinguin.

Listen to totalbiscuit what he said about it. If the price is so low that it is good to be true then do not buy it not from a website like Kinguin or G2A because those keys are pretty much illegal obtained.

So I suppose that applies to Nuuvem and Origin India type situations? It really isn't that simple. There are a lot of crazy good, legitimate deals. It's a minefield.

I only sub to a few Twitch channels, but I think I'll unsub if they don't drop G2A.

I believe any game made before 1997 is "essentially cave man art."
I bought a cheap xbox live 12 month card from them and had no difficulties. That is my story about using g2a.

Yeah... never buy keys from sites that aren't GMG, Amazon, Humble, GamersGate, or straight from the developer/publisher.

Yeah G2A are nothing but scammers, much like other grey market CD key places. I've only had success with one other CD key place and that's CJS and even then they can be a little bit annoying.

I definitely recommend pursuing the chargeback option and hopefully you can get your money back. For future times stick with GMG, GoG or Amazon.
