Black Ops 3 (Xbox 360/PS3) multiplayer to scale between 30 and 60FPS

On top of no campaign, they will have to live through the frame rate scaling from 30 to 60 FPS in competitive multiplayer. That's going to be very jarring and an awful experience for those playing on these consoles.

The multiplayer mode on PS3 and Xbox 360 will scale between 30- 60 FPS, while the frame rate in Zombies mode is 30 FPS.



They will also have to have a large installation:

PS3 users will need 16 GB of storage space to download Call of Duty: Black Ops III update, which includes 8 GB for the initial download and 8 GB for installation. Upon installation, the game will require 8 GB of storage space on PS3. Xbox 360 users will need 8 GB of space for download and installation.

Should have just kept it at a locked 30fps. Fluctuating between 30-60fps is going to be jarring as fuck, especially in a competitive MP shooter.

I can't imagine that the money spent on getting this to even work and run is worth the copies it will sell.

Jeeze. At this rate, the next Call of Duty will be honorarily cross-gen. You buy the PS3/360 version, open the box, and you find a $10 discount voucher on a new console of your choice.
 
The fuck is 'framerate scaling'? Don't they just mean they're leaving it unlocked so it can fluctuate wildly and look terrible all the time?

This will still sell at least 3 to 5 million copies to people who refuse to upgrade.

This is going to be so damn jarring to the unaware, this will hurt the brand more than anything

Last gen struggle ports have been a known quantity for generations now. Hitting 30 is still light years better than, say, the SNES version of Street Fighter Alpha 2, or the Wii version of Dead Rising. They won't be advertised at all on TV or in print, retailers will order the fewest copies ever on those systems and push the next gen uptake.

I know games that lock to 30 when vsync is enabled if it can't handle 60 in certain areas on PC, that's probably what this will will be like, unacceptable for a sp game, downright laughable for a competitive mp shooter.

You'd think they care that COD 4 probably feels better than this will.
 
The relatively narrow market for this is not going to care about this. These are people who spend $50 dollars on this game in 2015 yet haven't spend $3-400 on a console at any point over the last 2 years.

Treyarch should have done the port. Then it would run with 60 fps, but without a coop-feature and with low res textures.

Too bad that High Moon Studios had to port Destiny: The Taken King. They have done a good job with porting Advanced Warfare to last gen.

I wonder who will port Tony Hawks Pro Skater 5 to last gen? The developers of the PS4/One version? It didn't even run fluid on those much more powerful systems.
