Yes, I'm not Felipeko, live with it :p

Ubisoft end 2007 on a high with ‘Assassin’s Creed’ sneaking to the top of the All Formats Chart, reaching No1 on its respective formats (PS3 and Xbox 360) and dropping only 7% in sales, while Activision’s ‘Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare’ slips from No1 to No3 with a 37% decline.

‘FIFA 08’ misses out on No1 by around 1,000 sales, as EA have to make do with only 1 week at the top of the All Formats Chart in the last 11 weeks of the year. ‘The Simpsons Game’ falls one place to No4, while ‘Need for Speed: ProStreet’ holds on to No5 with both EA games falling by similar margins (24% and 23% respectively). The football games ‘FIFA 08’ and ‘Pro Evolution Soccer 2008’ are the only All Formats Top 10 games to increase in sales with the retailer-promoted Xbox 360 version of PES helping Konami’s title back into the Top 10, up from No13 to No6. THQ’s ‘WWE Smackdown Vs Raw 2008’ drops 43% in sales but remains at No7 for a third consecutive week, while Nintendo’s Brain Training sequel falls 2 places to No8 (and the original drops out of the Top 10 to No11, for the first in the past 9 weeks). The original Dr Kawashima has been in the All Formats Top 10 for 34 weeks in 2007 (and an impressive 50 weeks in the All Formats Top 20).

‘Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock’ gives Activision 2 Top 10 All Formats games this week, up from No12 to No9. Sega’s All Formats Top 10 representative is no longer ‘Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games’ which due to lack of stock falls out of the All Formats Top 40 after last week’s No9 placing, and is replaced with ‘The Golden Compass’, up one place to No10.

I think Mario & Sonic disappearing is to do with the supply. I havent seen a copy anywhere all week.

This is just insane though. I recall someone saying something similar about Uncharted, and it made as little sense then. How can you have a shortage of discs? You press and print. It's not fine tech hardware we're talking about.

It happens when there is no hardware to sell, remember Mario & Sonic was being bundled with the hardware.
No High sell through of hardware = low software sales for that particular game.

But taking all that into account, it is still insane how u can go from staying #1 for couple of weeks then drop out of the top 40 the next.

It's because they timed their distribution to hit shelves just before Christmas, leaving very little for afterwards. It is rare that see major replenishments right after Christmas (unless it is being advertised as such) because that stock usually rushed to the shelves as fast as possible. Every company does this. It would be foolish to not get everything you could out before demand dropped. This week's chart is more about the left-overs than about supply problems.

360 does very well in software sales.

Probably bodes pretty well for their hardware sales right now as well.

Fixed.
Don't know where they get their numbers from, but it was announced that Sony sold 100000 PS3's in one month in France, after the introduction of the 40GB SKU. That should cover half of November's month. So those numbers could be a bit low, dunno.
Too bad GfK's hardware numbers are not easily available.

This can't be true. That's Japan level of domination right there for Nintendo. Although looking at French charts, I wouldn't be too surprised if this turned out to be true.

OTHER PAL CHART WEEK 52 THREAD - which has since turned into a big girly argument over DS

Figured seing as many of you are asking the exact same questions in this thread we already answered once I might as well point you in the right direction...

me talking about Sonic shortages said:
M&S@O had a load of copies stocked up prior to Xmas as do the 1st party games.

Sega shipped them all before Xmas when Wii hardware was in demand and got the FIRST EVER ALL FORMATS NUMBER 1 FOR THE Wii and now they have run out of copies. Completely. Non on shipments to stores unless that store has pulled strings. Sold = sold to SEGA, they don't have to worry about the system sales - they will throw out more when the DS game launches in a couple of weeks and retake the all formats number 1 slot.

The 1st party games have been selling out each week but then restocking the next week to keep the sales buoyant for the system - if Wii had no stock in any of its top games all at the same time Nintendo get problems. This is why they use supply chain management to ensure that a constant stream of stock goes to shops. YES Mario Galaxy is selling out, but you'd be hard pressed to find shop workers that hadn't seen at least a few copies come in and get sold this week - unlike M&S@O.

So now you know!

UK Games Retail isn't just a simple case of hyping a title and putting units in the shops on day 1 (unlike Japan) you need to build a games reputation while it is out to sell, like Assassins Creed, M&S@O and Brain Training has done. Only the hardcore gamer fanboy titles come in high and disappear fast in he UK holiday period.

I've since heard talk that they are doing the next big shipment of the game to coincide with the advertising for the DS version - expect it to return to the number 1 slot.

and :lol at whoever said it was oly number one due to bundles... :lol

The pricedrop and introduction of the 40GB model in europe were in october 2nd IIRC.

Oh, and I fixed the DS numbers. Not that it matters tho :lol

So the DS should be past the 4.5M mark easily, now.

10th. But yeah, those numbers could possibly be correct, assuming that those 100k sales mainly happened during the first days. But still, I find them a bit low considering what I see in stores.

I'm probably going to add to the AC domination today (assuming my store get's them back in stock).
Played it with a buddy this weekend and the tech is seriously impressive. Also, the combat was very good looking despite what I heard.

Ey Gfk? Gfk doesn't track American numbers. Or am I missing something here? Yeah those PS3 numbers do look really low.

Edit: Oh you mean Gfk backed those 100k PS3s? If that's true that'd be for October not November.

You know this looked so insane on first sight I was inclined to say it can't be true but then I thought about the hardware LTD for France and seeing that Wii is already past 1m and PS3 is at 270k it suddenly sounds plausible (also taking into account that holiday is traditionally the absolute biggest period for Nintendo).

French numbers are insane. 360 & PS3 fighting for scraps while the Wii and the NDS selling stratospheric numbers. It's really like Japan.

The semi annual report will be really interesting to see how many Wii's Nintendo shipped to Europe. I think they are not far from the US numbers.

I support this thread. Justjohn shouldn't post the thread if he doesn't update the OP.

PM'd sp0rsk to ask him if he could merge both threads, so that we don't lose some of the discussions started in one or the other, but no news so far

Thanks for the german charts, going to add 'em to the OP. I'll take week 50's topic ranks as "last week" since it looks like there was no numbers released last week (just like spanish charts). I guess those are for Week 51 tho ?

Maybe I'm wrong, but it looks like GameIndustry.biz is the only one to provide them, and since the website didn't had any update since Christmas week until yesterday, looks like we won't have them :/

Edit:
Or maybe I just found the German charts for week 51 ?

1. More Brain Training with Dr Kawashima (DS)
2. Dr Kawashima's Brain Training (DS)
3. Wii Play (Wii)
4. Super Mario Galaxy (Wii)
5. Mario & Sonic at the Olympics (Wii)

Huh... so those numbers are Spain's numbers for Week 51 (already in the OP), so I guess those german numbers are week 51 too... If so, what are Phife's numbers ? I'm lost D:
