Wow, very good start for Mass Effect with just one or two days of sales. I don't know what you think, but it sucks to see Brain Training on #2 with so many great games out there.

need for speed bomba.

interesting. that might be the first need for speed in years that gonna sell bad. it's a shame tough, since the game is better than most wanted and carbon

I'm surprised Guitar Hero III wasn't higher.

..and I half expected a Ratchet and Clank re-entry as they have been advertising the hell out of it for the last couple of weeks.

ETA: When does Uncharted come out?
6th December I think.

Anyway, nice sales alround really. Good stuff for Assassins Creed to beat out Mario Galaxy in it's first full week like that and the PS3 version is not selling that badly either.

Resistance and Motorstorm finally disappearing as the 60GB's are disappearing VERY quickly.

the people that bought previous NFS want to race on streets not tracks. that's the feeling i've got from the people in know anyway.

stripping out yet another thing from the series that made it distinct just seemed crazy.

Nice to see Super Mario Galaxy at #3 for the second week. Don't know how much less it sold than its first week, but maybe it'll have good legs.

Brain Training at #2 is insane. The game is 18 months old.

heh, looks like Mario could have legs - and now that all the big name releases are out the door, the top 10 is likely going to stagnate for a while.

big drop off for ps3 games
Wha...?

COD 4 dropped a bit, heading into 3rd week that was expected. Assassins Creed still going strong, no issue there. PES08 climbed up the ladder and the other 2 games are new entries...

So I don't quite get the problem.

Pro Street might be better than Carbon, but Most Wanted? No way in ****.

Anyway, I'm glad to see Galaxy having legs in the UK.

wow bad sales for nfs and gh, expected smg to do better this week but i notice its sold out on lots of websites so we'll see how it goes

Actually NFS did great if you look at all prices chart:

COD4 for the ps3 dropped from 7 to 23 thats more than a bit

Well Galaxy held its place. That's heartening to see. It must've passed a million worldwide by now.

Slower than I was expecting (well, alright then, hoped) but it's still good.

Wii Play shot up the UK chart again. I thought there were shortages of this thing? Have they dissipated now?

With so many new titles released what did you expect?

The PS3 install base in the UK is bordering on 500k, that is very limited and not large enough to keep top 10 titles for long periods of time like a 1.5mil userbase can, especially with new games appearing on platforms with larger install bases.

Assassins Creed will most likely do the same next week.

Ratchet and Clank is a big bomb in UK. This doesn't bode well for the game in the November NPD numbers too.

The game came out in October, and sold only 74k according to October NPD.

360 big winner again followed by PS3, Wii not doing so good in software sales considering it's succes, Mario Galaxy isn't the huge hit it seems.

Edit: Ratchet epic bomb it seems. Following the trails of Rare's efforts on the 360, these family friendly games don't sell on hardcore consoles. Maybe it sales , like those of Viva Pinata will pick up when these consoles are 199 or something.

It's been heavily advertised on TV, so I'm surprised.

On the flipside I haven't seen a single Galaxy advert. But I've seen the Ratchet & Clank advert a lot, even going on about "Sony's Blu-Ray technology... thingy."

First warning sign that ME may not pull a Bioshock. Even though I love the game to death, I wouldn't be surprised if it only pulled 'OK' numbers.

God dammit, I *just* purged yesterday's Diego session (with my two year-old daughter) from my mind. :lol

Impressive hold for both versions of Assasin's Creed. 360 COD4 held steady while PS3 version took a tumble, which is probably a function of userbase. Decent ME debut. Brain Training, WTF? Amazing.

And nice to see Halo 3 holding steady, still.

BenjaminBirdie said:
Isn't that every week though? With every debut? It's certainly not a bad debut, but every week I think people say the same thing.

Given what time it is. I'm of the belief that a #4 in November is markedly better than a #4 in April or May.

Sykra said:
Was mass effect expected to debut at 1. or ?

No idea what the expectations were, but I fairly surprised that it was beaten by AC in its second week. Also surprised at the low GH3 debut (especially on the PS2).

Yup - Galaxy did pretty well in it's 2nd week, better than I could have hoped actually!

Each Wii shipment comes with enough Wii play to sell at least one per machine and that is what is happening in the UK once a week at the moment.

and...

Chart Track said:
26/Nov/2007
Ubisoft’s ‘Assassin’s Creed’ holds on to No1 in the All Formats Chart for a second week despite a 32% drop in sales, forcing EA’s newcomer ‘Need for Speed: ProStreet’ to settle for a debut at No2.

Both previous NFS games (Carbon and Most Wanted) debuted at No1 in the All Formats Chart with better launch week sales. Sales of Activision’s ‘Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare’ are down 46% - the second highest drop in sales for an All Fomats Top 40 title this week (behind EA’s ‘Crysis’), but only slips one place to No3. ‘The Simpsons Game’ falls one place to No4, while a record breaking week for DS hardware keeps the Kawashima bandwagon rolling with the original game selling more in one week than ever before up one place to No5 (+30%). Konami have this week’s highest All Formats Top 10 climber, up from No9 to No6 with ‘Pro Evolution Soccer 2008’, while ‘Super Mario Galaxy’ falls from No5 to No7 in its second week. There are a total of 6 All Formats Top 40 new entries with ‘Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock’ from RedOctane/Activision the only other one to break into the Top 10.

The remaining new entries are all from different publishers with ‘Mass Effect’ from Microsoft new at No12, Sega’s ‘Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games’ at No14, ‘Kane & Lynch: Dead Men’ from Eidos at No16 and Midway’s long-awaited PC shooter ‘Unreal Tournament III’ at No40.

I blame Brain Training 1's success on the deal that has it for £105 or £110 with a DS Lite. A bargain!
