Ubisoft’s ‘Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood’ jumps up another 3 places to No4, which is its highest chart position so far. EA’s ‘Tiger Woods PGA Tour 10’ therefore slips one place to No5 while Nintendo’s Mario Kart Wii’ applies the gas and moves up to No6. Activision Blizzard’s ‘Call of Duty: World at War’ resurfaces in the Top 10 at No7 alongside EA’s new entry ‘Madden NFL 10’ which touches down at No8. Disney’s film tie-in ‘G-Force’ remains at No9 and EA’s ‘Harry Potter & the Half-Blood Prince’ rounds off the Top 10.

Netherlands and France sure do love some Nintendo :B

Interesting to see Ashes Cricket Wii topping nº2 this week.

I wonder how much Mario Kart Wii has sold at this point... has it topped the DS version?

Nice to see Call Of Juarez: Bound In Blood doing so well. Good game and deserves the sales. No let's just hope the upcoming Red Dead Revolver 2 sells well too. I want more western games :)

Does Ashes Wii have WiiM+?

Unsung hero of the 06/07 annihilation. Shame he'll probably miss out on the fifth Test at the Oval in favour of Lee (or Hauritz, if it's a turning pitch) when Australia correct the wrongs of four years ago.

Edit:

Yeah, that's a pity. Get on it, EA! Show Codemasters how it's done!

He definitely won't be playing in the fifth test. Hilditch is a fool, but we're not playing good enough teams in the future for him to be proven wrong. Johnson will continue to be given a million chances.

It is an upper/middle class sport in general. And in general Wii has been particularly popular with the upper/middle classes.

Don't let price fool you, chavs like the PS3.

All I know about cricket is that you rub the ball near your balls so it will spin better... also the loud cheer all people make when you knock over the three sticks is obnoxious.

Interesting to see the cricket games still selling well despite the last ashes test.

yeah, it's kind of similar in Germany. DS (and Wii to some extent) are attracting people of higher education/income. While the PS3 and PSP are more of a status symbol for lower income people (most notably immigrants).
The 360 ist obviously not as successful in Germany, but it has an appeal to young, tech-savvy guys (who often pirate games) and male teens.

no its usually a bit of dirt the rub on the ball or mark it with their finger nails to mess with its spin, which ofc is ball tampering and cheating.....

Nah I know what cricket is, it's your last part of the statement that got me.

Carol Vorderman made it into the chart too this week.

Amazed by the numbers Club Penguin is pulling in - I'd presumed this was a cash in but the (under 10) word of mouth seems to be pushing it.

It was smart of them to make a Wii version of the Cricket game.

Nah - that was just common sense. The smart part was advertising the fuck out of it as the lead format on TV.

huh? where I went in Germany, that wasn't the case.

wait, are you saying that Germany has less tech-savvy guys and male teens?

why am I asking question to this stupidity?

I'm not a fan of unsubstantiated anecdotes, but there certainly is legitimate empirical evidence to support his basic inference.

At least in America, there have been some demographic studies done, and it is true (according to Nielson) that Wii owners are, on average, more affluent/upscale than PS3/360 owners.

http://www.gamespot.com/news/6175665.html

This is the only one I can locate, but there is a slightly more recent one which reached the same conclusion.

Whether this holds true in Europe and particularly Germany is unclear, but I would absolutely love to get more specified demographic information like this more frequently. I sympathize with people who don't like to wade in to dangerously un-PC waters (And I certainly don't endorse Phants2k's unsubstantiated claims), but it would really give us a much better idea of who is buying what if we could get more studies like this.

We could do a lot with such data. For example, if the above studies are accurate, we could reasonably assume that the PS3 (and 360) would be more price sensitive than the Wii is, as poorer households tend to exhibit lower price elasticity than wealthier ones do. Hence, we could reasonably conclude that a Wii price cut would do slightly less for that system than the price cuts have done for the PS3 or 360.

Swing better, not spin. Spin happens when the ball bounces, so it doesn't matter how shiny or not the ball is. Swing is the movement of the ball through the air, so when one side of the ball is shinier than the other it moves sideways slightly as one side of the ball has less resistance than the other side.

This is what I answered to. A subjective statement about what console is preferred by which social group in UK. In my answer I presented my subjective thoughts on the situation in Germany.
What the fuck did I do wrong? Please explain without the hostile crap. Thanks.

edit - just read Opiate's reply
- I don't get what's "un-pc" there?
- "Phants2k's unsubstantiated claims" : do I need to post a disclaimer before posting my opinion?
- yes I too would love to see a demographic breakdown of each console.

I doubt it, MK DS has been out much longer and is still charting. Interesting to note that NSMB has sold more LTD but MK DS beats NSMB quite often in many regions on a weekly basis, including most of Europe, Japan and the US. I'm not sure how much MK Wii and MK DS compares in LTD sales, they should both be very close but MK Wii should end up winning since it's more suited for consoles.

Looks like the whole Germany taking over the UK thing was bollocks:

From Edge

We've spoken to GfK Chart-Track about Media Control GfK International's latest market data, and it appears that Germany has not overtaken the UK as the largest games market in Europe. A spokesperson told us that the data "appears to be a case of crossed wires and should be ignored."
