This episode has been on fire. Really enjoyed it, especially Sewart (he's my favorite for a reason) - loved it.

Let me just say again how much I enjoy any and all Vita discussion on the show! Its really refreshing to hear somebody talk about the system as it actually is, which is as a system that still has a fairly healthy release schedule for the near future. I've been listening to other shows and reading comments here and there about how the Vita has been "dead" since way back when the damn thing was only a year out from launch. I've got about 20 or so physical vita games and a 64GB stick filled with PS1, PSP, and Vita digital games so clearly I'm way into it. I also have two Vita TV systems because I got them on the cheap and I wanted to be able to stream and make YT videos of them.

Anyway, I know there was a comment this week to the tune of "we almost have too much vita talk" but honestly as an avid vita fan, I don't think the show has had that much until recently and its been very welcome. Keep it coming, I say. There's still a lot of great stuff coming out of Japan and I'd like to hear impressions anywhere I can get them!

Fate Extella
Steins Gate 0
Valkyrie Drive
Root Letter
Psycho Pass
Trails of Cold Steel 2
Yomawari: Night Alone
World of Final Fantasy

All that is before the end of the year and its not even a complete list. There's a lot of great stuff still hitting that system and while 2017 may be a different story (I don't know) there's a lot going on if you're a fan right now.

So anyway, please don't hesitate to talk about any or all of that stuff as your show is one of the few that would.

I own a Vita too, but I honestly think they go overboard with the Vita-praise on this show. Im sure many of the games are great, but I have tried to do some research into a few of the games Kevin is praising, and they just never look that interesting to me - and this comes from someone who loved the PSP and owns a huge library for that. So yeah, I like the industry analysis more than anything, and I like talk about things there are less of on other shows, like retro games and gaming, but yeah, the Vita is getting too much time imo.

I agree with you. Everything I look into that's coming out looks like scraps or are seriously questionable. I ain't buyin' no Gal Gun.

It's approaching Dreamcast levels of supremely hyperbolic praise.

We've had like the last 2 episodes where they've talked about it? If I can get through all the endless Pokemon and Nintendo stuff, you can hang tough for some vita chat. How many other shows you know of that are talking about UPPERS for example? Cmon son.

That's what I thought until I played it. There's a great rail-shooter to be had if you can let down your guard and have a laugh. It's completely absurd and ridiculous but then you realize it's not nearly as risqué as it could be and its pretty cheeky more than anything.

I never said I cant get throught it, I just voiced my opinion on it :) And I am glad that they are making you (and probably many others) happy with the VIta-talk.

The Super Best Friendcast talked about Uppers.

Funny thing about Gal Gun is that when I would bust the PS3 version out with the move gun at parties, the ladies would have more fun than the guys when they played it.

I think there's so much baggage around NMS here on GAF that it's hard to discuss, but this episode touched on the PR. And to me, it's maybe not so much the distinct details that may not be in the final game that are the problem, rather -- as was stated on the show and on this forum -- the vacuum that led people to create their own expectations for the game.

It made me realize, while listening, that I think the biggest thing was -- I'm not sure whether it was ever said by Sean Murray during one of his many demos, but he definitely seemed to intimate that there was much more to the game than what people saw. And while clearly the game is gigantic and maybe that's what he meant, it seemed like he meant there was more to the game experience than land, mine, sell, get story tidbit and repeat. But it doesn't feel to me like the game is much more than he showed. If there are big, game-changing secrets in the game, they're buried a dozen-plus hours in (which is too deep IMO).

For me, the game wasn't worth $80... but I'll be picking it back up when it gets cheaper, and hopefully digitally. I really enjoy the space tourist angle...

The whole discussion about Nintendo taking down AM2R was strange imo, better points are made over in the retro-thread from here on: http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?p=212953779#post212953779

It would be a disaster for Nintendo to have AM2R be the Metroid-game for august 2016, when they are also trying to sell a new Metroid-game - especially since the narrative was spreading that AM2R was the "more real" of the games. Having it out there, and with all the press it got, would have amlified the narrative of Nintendo not listening to its fans, just releasing crap etc - and Federation Force would have tanked even harder than its going to now.

Hey P1P crew. I love the show and wanted to say thanks so much for doing it every week without fail for all these years. I never miss an episode.

I started listening back when Mike had first joined as 4th chair. The baby noises is what instantly made me love the show. At the time, I had just started having kids myself and loved that there was a VG podcast with dudes like me, rather than the 20-something College-type vibe of so many other podcasts back then (here I am thinking of 1up podcasts as great as they were).

While I really miss Mike, I am enjoying hearing Ethan on the show every week. He always brings a lot of energy and often has an interesting take on things.

And now that Ethan is 4th chair, can you please do a game club on Aliens: Colonial Marines?

Enjoying Ethan a lot.

I've actually enjoyed all of the 4th chairs. I mean every 4th chair seems so natural. Now it makes me ponder - maybe it doesn't matter who it is, and it works because everyone else. Or maybe it's just that the rest of the group know who to choose. I dunno.

Whatever it is, I have loved P1P from the very beginning, and since then it has been my favourite podcast and still is. So much in my life has changed since I started listening to P1P, but P1P remains the same. It's so weird, having this constant in my life.

Hearing someone say 'I'm enjoying Trials of Cold Steel a lot" just makes me want to sit him down and ask why. I put 90 hours into that game and I just can not understand any form of praise that game receives.

You played a game you don't like for 90 hours?!?

This show is getting so dry and boring.

I feel like in the last few months it's become an endless drone with almost none of the humor or interesting opinions.

A good podcast should make you feel like you've played a game yourself because they do such a good job describing their experience.

Whenever Ethan talks he just goes on and on without taking a breath and it's impossible not to zone out.

I fell behind on the Player One Podcast and have been binging on it since I joined a gym. The realization that Mike is gone for good is a bummer. His personality was a great dynamic for the group. The rest of the gang is great. As for Ethan, I'd give him time to build up his podcasting chops.

Sewart still the MVP. For lots of reasons, one is he brings a lot of passionate discussion and no smarm at all. I really appreciate you Greg!

I like the current cast as well. Mike was awesome, wish he would at least pop in as a guest but Ethan has been a great regular addition. Also like their "stock company" guests like Rich, Coach Kev and "Enemy of the Show" cbake.
I read that as enemy of the snow crab.

With the loss of Mike, intermittent Phil and their current crop of guests, it feels kinda like it's turning into a console focused version of Gamers With Jobs.

If all DLC came tied to $13 figurines, I'd consider all DLC to be free
That Yokoi crack.

Ethan is the bad-boy of the P1P.
Yeah I didn't see that one coming... This was... Wow.

Ethan is still my guy, really like his enthusiasm and his argumentation most of the time.

Agreed. There is a good core with CJ, stewy, Phil and Ethan with varying opinions. The guests always keep things fresh. P1P is really great right now.

The last few episodes have been simply excellent. I've loved P1P since forever but have definitely enjoyed it even more lately. Some feisty conversations and hitting on a whole host of different games.

Best show on the Internet.

On Saturday, Aug 27th starting at 8am EST I'll be streaming 10 hours of Sonic games on www.twitch.tv/sewart in support of Extra Life. Please consider stopping by and making a donation.

I'm at $650.00 right now. My goal for 2016 is $5500.00.

Has Pete Dodd abandon the podcasting game? They should invite him on again one day
Good question and I agree. May have been on Press Row, but loved the show when Pete and Greg discussed last gen's(?) racing games. Powerful 1-2 punch, dudes know and love their racing games. Introduced me to NFS: Shift, a fine game.

Speaking of ... Stewy, will this be an F1 2016 weekend?
