Damn so soon? time to pick up a 2nd Oled Vita for the future.....A handheld Vita is pointless to me without DAT OLED...might as well get a Vita TV

I don't even care about the Vita price-point ($200 is fine for the device). It's the memory cards. What the double-u tee eff?

Much better than what we got in the UK

I'm still seriously holding out hope that the UK Slim release was purely because some retailers were running low on stock and as OLED will have been discontinued, the only way they could replenish stocks was to launch unintentionally early.

Hopefully once a full EU launch happens, it'll be accompanied with a price drop/decent bundle.

People have convinced themselves that the Vita's existence and investment into game development is somehow hampering the PS4's potential to succeed.

They've never been able to quantify just how it does this - but they feel the Vita should be stamped out, crushed and abolished and then all sorts of exclusive games will materialize for PS4 that would not have otherwise existed.

This lunacy is why people hate on the Vita so much. (That and memory card prices.)

Which is hilarious considering there are barely any original Vita games coming out from western studios anyways. Japan's driving original development and the two games the UK put out were unfortunately flops. And Tearaway was made with a skeleton crew anyways.

is this screen better than the OLED one

If you look at them side by side: The colors pop less and the blacks aren't as deep on the LCD screen. However, in motion, there is less bleeding from frame to frame that occasionally is an issue with the OLED in my opinion.

Its a trade off, and obviously the cheaper screen, however its still remarkably great looking. Most people who bash it on this site haven't seen it in person I think.

Polygon story updated. Borderlands 2 bundle will be $199. Also includes all Borderlands 2 DLC packs, apparently.

Wow, not bad at all. Borderlands 2 bundle is a start... one of the first open world title for the Vita, right? They need a Minecraft bundle though. And they need to somehow advertise it's proper, cavey Minecraft.

If the Emulation scene gets better on Vita I will definitely pick one of these up and finally retire the PSP. Love the extra battery life but can't give up dat OLED so I'll keep my OG Vita to play all PSN and Vita games.

The vita version of Borderlands 2 could be a trading card game for all we know.

When are we gonna see some footage of this thing?
It's pretty clear it's the full game if you read the post, but yeah - some footage would be nice.

Surprised at people whining about the price on this - $199 seems dirt cheap to me given the pack-in. That said, I'm in AU where we routinely get screwed on pricing so anything would seem reasonable in comparison ;)

I don't get what's so massively bad about the Vita, and why people hate on it so much

the device is an absolutely stunning mobile game device, and this is from someone who hated the PSP.

Apparently its trendy to hate on it :,(

A card game that includes cross-save with the PS3 version as well as all the DLC packs? At least try to read the article.

Oh lighten up. I'm just saying we haven't seen any footage of this, it's obviously not going to be a trading card game, it's one of those joke things people used to enjoy.

not at all

-however the buttons and battery life are superior so there's that

I believe anyone with this attitude has not spent any time with the 2000 in person. After playing probably 1000s of hours on my VITA 1000 and now 50+ hours on my new vita 2000 import, I can tell you the color / motion bleeding on the OLED ( super apparent mostly in really colorful games like Persona 4 Golden ) is not at all there on the LCD screen.

Sure the colors don't pop quite as much and blacks aren't as stupid deep. I wont argue with you there. But the actual difference is quite negligible in my opinion and fixing the bleeding is a great pro.

Some other pros: much more room to hold the thing on the back side, and MUCH improved L/R triggers.

Wow, this is ridiculous...where's the VitaTV? This new version, meh...

Borderlands in general would've been so much better if it was in 3rd person, otherwise it's just a frustrating mess of a game...

I'm all for a portable BL2. I really need to see some screens and video though. I expect a decrease in graphical quality, but I just want to know if they can keep a stable framerate.

Why do you guys want this none of the best games even support it.

I want to put CEF on it and use it for PSP games.

But the better PPSSPP gets, the less I'm interested in Vita TV. If it had full compatibility with Vita games then I'd prefer it to a normal Vita but it doesn't, so bleh.

I've been in the market for a Vita lately but I've been comparing prices with a minimum 32GB card and it's not the price I want to pay. Unless it were Ys or something I'd rather have a decent storage pack-in for that price.

If they do what they did in europe and have it more expensive than OG vita, it's DOA. Well, DOA relative to the vita.
You're misinformed. The PS Vita Slim has the same Recommended Retail Price in the UK, as the normal PS Vita.

Sony never increased the price.

If they don't release all the different colors I'll be pretty pissed.

Hey Vita fans, we’ve got some great news to share with you today. Since its reveal at the Tokyo Game Show, many of you have asked when the new PlayStation Vita model will be coming to North America. Today, we’re excited to announce the new PS Vita Wi-Fi model (PCH-2000 series) will be available via the Borderlands 2 Limited Edition PlayStation Vita Bundle this Spring. The bundle will include the new slim PS Vita system in black, the first-person role-playing shooter hit Borderlands 2 with six DLC packs, and an 8GB PS Vita memory card – all for $199.99 (MSRP).

$200 isn't crazy to me, plus a game with that. I paid $180 for my 3DS XL and love it, so paying almost the same for better hardware seems worth it.

But I'll wait until Black Friday for better price and bundles because I'm in no rush ;)

Any word on what colors are coming??

I never got the impression that anyone hated the Vita (it's a fine device). It's just that nobody is buying it (for whatever reason), which fuels the vicious cycle of no games and etc...

Now, to be fair, there are games for the Vita. They're just not what I want (besides P4G, which I already have in vanilla P4).

Yeah I guess, I think for us Aussies an entry price of $199 seems absurdly low (well for me at least). Haha. Already easily in impulse-buy territory.

Just saw the 64Gb card at superUFO is $84 US. Sold!

There are plenty of reasons. It just seems Sony can't see any of them.

Releasing yet another bundle for the same price point your other bundles don't move at is insanity.
