Assassin's Creed V is not Japan, but is Jade Raymond's favorite historical era

I'm biased, because I'm portuguese, but I think that an Assassin's Creed set on the coast of Africa during the portuguese colonisation would be interesting also.

Yeah the age of exploration in general would be pretty bad ass. Plus they would get to continue to refine that ship combat. Any other setting means pretty much abandoning it.

Vikings would be great for the naval series if they're really splitting up the games as they hinted.

I've seen a picture of a female assassin in Russia, it was from some weird official ubi site where you play ac4 related games or something.
Yep it's from ACInitiates. It's a picture from modern days. I don't know if it's a hint. It's part of a modern day story where we follow the Assassin's leader and his team. They already went to Japan and now it's Russia.

Kinda glad they won't do Japan because it would never be as good as the picture I have in my head for it.

Ancient japanese rooftop architecture, shurikens, rope darts, dressed all in black sith ninjas as the assassin order (no normal AC hood crap, proper black garmenta). Hiding in shadows for stealth. Really agile bouncy movement, not as heavy as previous games.

The bigger surprise is seeing Raymond involved with AC again.

I'm up for any historical era AC puts out. Been pretty happy with the eras and locations in each.

Ya, sorry bud but that's Hollywood Japan. Real Ninja's/Assassin's would be that farmer walking innocently down the street. Suddenly, he pulls his sickle out of nowhere, slashes some noble dude and runs off. THEY NEVER WORE BLACK! That was taken was traditional Kabuki theater where guys dressed in black against a black background were supposed to be invisible and they were used to hold up props and stuff.

Also, they were never bouncy or all that agile. Leave that Wuxia stuff where it belongs

Better be pirate ships or I wont care

I think they'll have at least one more entry set around or featuring pirates, but it may not be this next instalment.

Consdering she's French Canadian (or is she simply from Montreal?), this might happen. Even tho I'm french Canadian (also?), I'd be bummed out if it wasn't the Vikings era.

Completely off topic, but what does French Canadian mean? Is it different to just being Canadian?

Her studio Ubisoft Toronto is currently working on an unannounced future entry in the series alongside her former team Ubisoft Montreal, which she describes as "like going home".

How depressing to have to pretend to be enthusiastic about it. I'm pretty sure she said they'd be working on something new after Blacklist. I think she was also selling the idea of gender equality in gaming too, so it will be interesting whether any of this permeates ACV.

Toronto is big studio so they could work and they are working on their new game and helping with AC5.

I think it will be another story over the course of decades like Ezio's.

Location London. Timeframe between 1640's & 1660's.

It would be the best time for an AC visit to London. Oliver Cromwell & the execution of Charles II.

Oh and it would be around the time when Isaac Newton had an apple bounce of his bonce. Newton has been thought by some to be a Grand Master of the Priory of Sion like Da Vinci (thats bollocks if you ask me but matches the source material Ubi have been using)

EDIT. Anyone want to bet it will end with the Great Fire of London in 1666

Whatever it is, I hope it doesn't double up with whatever mythology GoW is moving onto. I hate when everyone ends up on the same trend for 3 years.

Wouldn't assassins in historical Japan just be literal ninjas?

while it would probably be a really fun game to play, I'm guessing that's why they keep saying no to the idea. or they are just lying and it's actually coming. I feel like I remember one of the devs saying he'd love the French Revolution but I'm probably mixing up fan-made stuff, devspeak, and rumors into a big mess inside my brain.
