So you'll abstain from purchasing Hyper Light Drifter then?

I am if it is getting delayed.
I usually buy everything that is released on the Vita, but if it is getting delayed due to pressure...oh well.
I have other stuff to play...then again, I am probably not theirs target audience anyway if they rather focus on the X1 instead of the Vita.
So no actual loss sale from the delay since the opportunity doesn't exist in the first place.

A good list. Looks like the initiative is taking off.

As Sartre noted in his contemplation on Hell in No Exit, the true horror is other members.
Chris Charla, Secret Weapon. Well done.

So is this why hyper light drifter isnt coming out til winter? Microsoft is smart for forcing this, knowing developers don't have the balls to miss out on a platform. Can't be mad at MS for that just the devs that allow themselves to be bullied

Yeah, we definitely can't be mad at MS for the clause MS includes in their contract.

Watched trailers for most of the games on the list. Hyper Light Drifter, Caliber 10 Racing, Habitat, Qube, Riptide GP2, Super Time Force, and Wulverblade all have my attention.

I mean It seems like a fair amount of these are already available on different platforms...

What it really means is that Microsoft is really close to leveling the playing field when it comes to self-publishing indie titles. They have some pretty cool exclusives and seem to be catching up with the cross platform titles. It's not quite there yet, but it's really close.
Being that the two systems are so close to each other, and the fact that BOTH Sony and Microsoft are making it so easy and inexpensive to publish on their respective systems, I can see a lot of parity ahead for the indie games and their community.

Surprised I haven't heard about Gunscape before and that their Kickstarter right now isn't really successful even though they just ask for $27.500. seems like a neat idea.
Also didn't know about Strike Suit Zero which looks great.

Which is great for gamers, and great for developers. Everyone wins.

I'd also pick The Last Tinker from that list. Met the devs while they were showcasing the game CCEU14 and had a chance to try it on a SteamBox. It's not quite a platformer, but it felt really solid and there was some great level design and they use the theme really well in the game.

I saw this some day ago, do we know where it's coming outside of the xbone? I'd kill for a Vita ver.

Except for when struggling developers have to delay releasing an already finished game just to release on XBox.
They need money to live as well.
First, if you look at the list, there are games released on the PS4 already. MS has gone on record saying they will look at it on a case by case basis. Second, releasing on the two consoles and PC at the same time can be a huge advantage. It allows the largest number of consumers access to the product. The systems are similar enough that it is very possible to port these games over with very minimal work especially with sdk's like unity available.
The whole "delay to launch on both systems" will be moot very soon as games that are in the beginning stages of development are going to be multiplatform for the most part.

And what exactly is "very minimal work"? How long will it take the 3 developers of No Man's Sky for example?

Awesome news. No intention to own a Xbone anytime soon but indie games should not be locked to one platform. Guys needs all the sales they can get!

Hope none of them gets screwed over by that launch stuff though. Most Indie studios can't survive on delays.

Calibre Racing looks like a more fleshed out version of Harm's Way. Not a bad thing as I thought it was great, but hopefully they manage to nail the controls/handling a lot better...

We don't even know yet what platform that game is slated for yet. Nothings been announced yet. In the case of a 3 man team using their own engine, I would have to imagine they would like to work an exclusivity deal with one of the major platform holders so that's not really a good example.
What im trying to point out is that its not quite the same situation we had last gen with the 360 and PS3 being so different architecturally that we are headed in a direction where it will be much easier to port over something in a month or two versus a much longer period last time. Honestly, wouldn't you rather launch a game on as many platforms as possible, than limiting yourself to one if it means an extra month or two?

If it means exposing it to many more millions of customers than, yes I would take that extra time.

How about letting the devs make that choice by themselves? And if launching in all platforms at the same time is the best choice, I'm sure the devs will choose that, they don't need that parity clause.

Let devs decide that instead of forcing it on them with a bullshit parity clause.

Sure, that policy will have to go in the future, and I'm sure it will (although it makes sense for Microsoft - and Xbox One owners - at the moment, and I understand why it's there), but that's not at all what I was commenting on.

It looks really beautiful there.

No, but the free xbox dev kits that go with it sure are nice, I bet. Wonder how long the parity clause will last once all xboxes are opened up to hobnyist devs (I believe that was something mentioned in the past?).

And again, no one is forcing it upon them. You can look at it two different ways.
As a gamer, we want the game as quickly as possible on our system of preference.
As a dev, I would want to expose my game to as many potential consumers as possible.
No one is forcing them to do that. MS has that in their contracts, but a dev doesn't have to sign it if they dont want. Even then, MS has gone on record saying they'll look at it. Pinball arcade and contrast are already on PS4 and are making their way the XBOX one.
I have both systems as well as a PC, I want these games as soon as possible as well. I just dont get as hung up on these sort of dealings as many people here.
if it means the publisher can expose their game to more people and make more money to further produce more games than I'm ok waiting some extra time for release.
that's all I'm trying to say.

Yes, although that doesn't mean that publishing on the platform will be entirely free of charge (you had to pay a yearly subscription to publish your games on XBLIG). But sure, I can't see the policy remaining in place at that point. The only problem is we don't know when Microsoft will enable the functionality. It doesn't make sense to open the floodgates from the very start since the platform could become polluted by a sea of shovelware, like it was the case with XBLIG. Once it's somewhat established, I can see them opening up everyone's retail boxes for development.

Yup, $99 I think... or £99 in the UK, where $1 = £1 *sigh*

Yeah, content curation is going to be tricky; then again it's done on the Windows 8 Store, iOS store, etc., so it's not impossible.

PS... I remember citadel

MS is supposedly working with developers that already had contracts in place. So more likely on XBO later than PC/PS4.
Link please? Haven't seen any such thing other than if they had exclusivity contracts.

it'll still be on PS4 this just means the PS4 version won't release until the Xbox One version is (damn launch parity)

edit: if any of these games end up getting delayed to meet the launch parity clause I personally will refuse to buy them at full price
At least Forced from BetaDwarf is known already to be delayed from Wii U, and most likely from PS4 too because of the launch day parity clause.

I wouldn't be at all surprised if Hyper Light Drifter is delayed too because of it.

Anyway, good that XB1 gets indies too. Hopefully not too many are delayed from other platforms because of the clause.
