It was taken down a little bit ago (you can see the comment in the Github repository). I'm guessing because of negative feedback, but can't say for sure.

Yeah, I do remember Remix mentioning they had "big stuff coming" for this year before he sadly passed away. Wouldn't know if it went through however.

Well, it's 7 years late but the justification for paying for Live is finally here: you're only gaming at the whim of Microsoft and the publisher, not an additional random third party like Glu.

well to be fair to triforce, france, especially the older generations but including the current one, does have a prettttty gnarly problem with how minorities are treated. preventing the government from even recognizing race in the consitution makes it pretty tough just to officially identify race related problems, let alone to solve them. immigrants and minorities are really badly marginalized, there's open racism & misoginy on french streets, etc. when i studied in paris i saw it all the time, it was really gross. my iranian friend got a bunch of open hate by people who thought he was a jew, my female friends got followed by people close enough to breathe on their necks, my asian friends got told they couldn't possible be american because their eyes are chinky, etc.
but anyway at least 3/4 of the french fighting gamers i met were minorities or immigrants so unless that's changed drastically i assume that complaining about french fgc discrimination is some persecution complex stuff

They're way different. Jstars victory is more akin to Anarchy Reigns and the Ninja Storm games while Jojo's tries to be a 3D fighter. Jstars also has shit like assists (that you can call even during hit stun LOL) so they are pretty different.
Localizing the game might be a headache though. Since a lot of the properties is split up

They played a FT100 set and Insayne won that by a considerable margin. Flux got salty because that's just how he is. Then Flux and Insayne played a FT10 at Bum's which streamed off screen and shit was intense as hell. Commented by Bum/RayRay talking mad shit about Flux, Flux then goes into a salty tirade followed by a salty pop off by Bum. I wish I still had the stream link to this, it was pretty fucking hilarious.
Shit like that is like common place now at House of Crack. This is NY's scene's biggest Marvel rivalry.
The amount of money is pretty low though.

The Declaration of the Rights of Man and of the Citizen, which is the preamble of the current constitution, clearly states that every man is free and equal in rights -- you therefore don't need to recognize "race" just going by this very principle.
Some of what you describe in your post is already clearly prohibited by the law.
"Race" is a touchy subject here in France: a lot of people are against admitting this is a notion that can be applied to human beings, as it would constitute racism to say so. I think this is stupid, and just a bad consequence of our "politically correct" era; racism is not about thinking two human beings can be different, but thinking that one of them is superior to the other just because of his race / color / whatever nature has decided for him. All of this to say that this very subject is quite disputed over here, and more often than not talking about "race" for a human being can be frowned upon.
That said, yeah, we do have fuckers, but like anywhere in the world. I've been eyed by japanese youngsters in the Tokyo metro, and been called a gaijin (with a mix of disdain and hate) right to my face. Yet, I've met some absolutely charming and delightful japanese people.
You can't equate a whole nation to the few bad examples you've seen of them. Otherwise, I would have a pretty bad impression of the english people, whose skinheads chased me and my friends on the streets when I was around 13 (with knives and all), on the sole motive of me being French. ^^

Did you guys have some sort of warning about this or did you already feel it was time to move on and it just worked out nicely that way?
We didn't use that stuff in our games after 3sO, so we wanted to move to our more updated systems that use our own backend. No warning, just something we wanted to do and it worked out nicely.

Personally I think it's kinda cool that weeklies/venues in the northeast are starting to specialize in certain games. Battle Circuit is mostly about AE now, and the competition has been really heated for that recently. House of Crack is now the go-to place for Marvel. And The Break's holding it down for Injustice.
I also like the level of passion and rivalries we've been seeing from that scene recently.

well obviously i'm not saying everyone there is racist, geez. it's often just a relatively few bad apples that actually act that kind of stuff out, and it was no different in paris. and i made a bunch of friends there from students to shawarma shop owners to fighting gamers.
but people in paris do things just walking around that i've only ever seen a handful of people do in cities in the us. the way women are treated there is particularly awful imo. america has a big problem with how women are treated as they're walking around but in paris, every single day i saw women get verbally and physically accosted in a way that was new and pretty scary to me. and the us has racism that's quite bad in lots of ways, but again, rarely in the overt kind of way that i saw regularly in paris. i regularly saw action and heard comments and read graffiti targeting black people, asian people, maghrebi people, jewish people, etc. of course that stuff is against the law, in fact in some ways iirc french law is supposed to tackle racist statements and actions more forcefully than us law. but that didn't seem to stem the stuff going on.
yeah, it's not just the constitution that prohibits classifying by race, that's very much built into the society there. that's a great ideal, but in terms of solving problems of race and inequality that already exist, it's a pretty big hindrance too. the estimates i've seen concerning race and income, education, incarceration, etc are pretty horrible. those are just estimates since the government legally cannot gather that kind of info, but they have some reality behind them. if you can't gather stats to identify a problem, if you're prohibited from recognizing a problem, it's gonna be pretty hard to do anything about it. i studied close to the bastille but went over a guy's house to play fighting games a few times in one of the banlieues. the differences in status and the people who lived there were super obvious.
i dunno though, i studied there just a couple years after le pen got into the 2nd round of presidential voting. maybe things have changed since then, i know that woke a lot of people up. and again, i don't wanna make it seem like the us is much better. this is all just to say that i wouldn't at all be surprised if triforce got discriminated against on race instead of on, well. you know.

Is it a regional thing? For example Australia and the US often get criticised for being racist, but they are so big that different regions are basically different countries themselves.
I wonder how France being a lot smaller plays into the dynamic you are talking about.

Well actually David studied just after presidential elections when for the first time the far right composed of racists, nazis and negationists go to the second part of the election. The candidate was an old soldier of the Algeria war (algeria was a colony of France until late fifties) that tortured algerian population and he was hating them. It woke up a lot of shit, with people ashamed by that, and others proud of this and showing it. I was eighteen so it's hard to judge, but this was a very, very bad time. Now the far right changed hands and they started a cleanup of their image/brand but are still there and progressing. Sarkozy was elected by people thinking he would do things like the far right does, and he even took part of their program to try to be re-elected two years ago, but lost because far right people don't believe him anyway.
Last week it was mayor elections, the far right did a great score and has now more time to pass on TV (it's regulated in france) and spread their shit. France is getting less and less tolerant as people blame arabs for abusing aids (but don't remove them or your llazy but white cousin will be in trouble !), muslims for not being catolics (nuns can cover their hair, not muslims, it's not laic MEH), immigration while most of it is students and people are in fact accusing grandchildren of the algerian that massively came to live in france in the sixties and now live in poverty in suburbs, europe because lol why not, €uro because it raised prices, etc... They are mixing a ton of shit, saying France is not France and with the crisis and the mistrust of politics, they are trying to pass their anger and stupidity on someone.
As for places more or less racists, it's the same as everywhere. Paris and big cities are not as racist as you would think because there are all kind of people, they are just divided between poor and rich neighborhoods just like the US has. The south east has still a lot of racists because it's where the immigration from maghreb came from with Marseille and there are a lot of old people migrating there after retirement. A lot of them are regretting the almighty glorious france from the fifties when all those arabs needed to be civilized. In the rest of France, most of racists don't even have true reasons to be racists, it's just a scapegoat given by television and some politicians to avoid questionning yourself and true problems.
David is right about not getting information about people is not helping resolve problems, but I don't think it would help as much as you can imagine. France had his first massive immigration period 50 years ago, and is now struggling to integrate grandchildren of these people that were way more docile than now, because there were jobs for everyone in the now dead industries. It takes time, these people are often poor and isolated, have less education, a religion that is stigmatised since 9/11. And now the financial crisis does not help as even the typical white middle class people are having a hard time with raising taxes to stop debt, blocked salary, lack of investment in small/medium business as business owners are shitting in their pants doing nothing but waiting for retirement that a politician promised to them 40 years ago.
About mysoginy it is a problem, a true problem. Since two years still, a lot of women made coming outs to express it, and it's on a better road than it was even if it's still very, very complicated to explain the rape culture, the male domination made by society, etc... because most of men are turning it into jokes or saying feminists are boring/nofun (thanks Femen for this as they are doing shit). These past two years, we had MONTHS of debate and manifestations about gay mariage where white extreme catholics people (the typical french cliché even if the country is mostly atheist) came out of the wood saying it was going to destroy the whole universe. Those fuckers even bring their children to manifestations to protect themselves against gaz and cops even thought they were being homophobic because refusing people the same rights as theirs. Homos were beated in the streets but it was done and in 10 years, nobody will question all this anymore because well... It does not change anything.
I swear to you being french is sometimes very, very tiring. Ain't easy to omelette du fromage.
