Trials Fusion Day One Patch - Increases res on X1, improves F.R on PS4

Can't wait to play this. I'm glad that PS4 version is 1080p. I'm surprised that the XB1 version was originally 800p. That's pretty crazy.

Fair enough. I have no idea how these things work, but it always seems strange when I download a game, and then download a patch for said game

Yeah basically they have to submit a master build for either disc or digital by a set date, and that is the final build (assuming it passes). During that time the team can work on any additional title updates for the game, and those too have to be submitted and passed.

The 600p comment is really strange and not correct. I'm guessing he meant 600p as in 600-699p because that is at least a lot more accurate statement.

Comed in expecting a 1080p patch on day one... Ubi or the one are really lame to only get 800p pre-patch

Why does anyone care it was 800p prepatch? it isnt when you actually play it

I want to know what the framerate is like if they improve it on ps4 but increased rez on xb1...

How is it that Wolfenstein can run at 1080p60fps on Xbox, but super physics Excitebike can't? What is going on? Save us DX12!!

So we now have 2 threads for this stuff. Great.

Anyway, the amount of stuff trials games move, shaders, dynamic lighting, realtime shadows cast by multiple light sources, physics, geometry, draw distance.. Dont be fooled by the basic concept and 2.5D gameplay, the engine is impressive and trials games are small technical marvels on x360.
Much more advanced engineering than a lot of AAA titles, guys at red linx sure can code. On x360, at least.

Someone said on one of the other threads that it was a solid 60 fps with v-sync on all versions. Good news for everyone. Looking forward to seeing for myself.

Gotta say, I also expected the title implied Xbone res was being upped to 1080p... then was a little shocked, saddened and amused all at the same time by the actual story.

Trials actually has a lot of advanced visuals. Sure, the game just seems like a side scrolling bike game, but it renders thousands of objects on screen at once, as a ridiculous draw distance, and the series itself has always been very advanced graphically for an "Arcade/PSN" title.

There was a post a while ago about the technical prowess of the Trials series... and it's not something to scoff at.

Well at least it had stable fps before the patch on the X1. ;)

I love how devs now talk more openly about this things. :)

Have we seen what Wolfenstein actually looks like at 1080p60 on Xbone? Genuine question, is there any footage?

You expected Sony to release a $1000+ console? Or did you think they could magically pull off 4K games with a $150 GPU? ;)
I expected a real $150 GPU... and it can reach 4k in some games... in AMD flops I expected at least a 2.5Tflops GPU.

The current situation is a $100 CPU + GPU.

I'm fine now with the weak consoles this generation but I was really disappointed at reveal.

That didn't make the PS4 bad... I have one and it is a all dream gaming machine... but it is weak.

Before some says PC... well I don't like to play games on PC... just work.

High end GPU's have a tough time with 4K and a good framerate. What did you expect?
A high end GPU... to the console have 1080p easily and maybe some 4k games like we has 1080p last gen.

Can call me crazy but I expected something like GTX 680... today it is not that high end but it is better than most GPUs in the market... this chip today can cost ~$150 to manufacture.

But expectation are never matched ;)

Edit - HD 7870 could be a better choice too...

yeah but you also can not gauge performance of hardware on singular games every time a new game comes out. Not all ps3 games were Uncharteds an so on and so forth.

I was about to preorder the game for the ps4 but that framerate patch has put me off. Has a dev confirmed that it will be 60 fps?

60fps locked at all times according to a dev for all versions.

dev on Trials Fusions said:
We reach double frame rate compared to the graphically demanding titles such as Infamous Second Son, Killzone (SP), Assassin's Creed and Ryse: Son of Rome.

Rough mapping:
720p @ 60 fps is slightly more demanding to the GPU than 1080p @ 30 fps
900p @ 60 fps is almost 50% more demanding to the GPU than 1080p @ 30 fps
1080p @ 60 fps is twice as demanding to the GPU than 1080p @ 30 fps

For our game, stable 60 fps is the most important thing. Pushing twice as many frames requires twice as many GPU and CPU cycles. This makes our game very demanding to the hardware.
There aren't many 60 fps locked games on next gen consoles. We are locked 60 fps all the time, not fluctuating between 30-50 fps (when things start to happen) like most of the other "60 fps" games do. Also our rendering resolutions are higher compared to these games.

He also says no differences in AA/AF/shaders etc. 360 uses 1/6 of total CPU power on sound while ps4/x1 uses their audio DSP freeing up the CPU.

Why would there be a day one patch for a digital only game? I understand retail, but for digital surely they'd just patch the server side copy and make you download the one complete file
FYI Trials Fusion isn't digital only, it has a retail release which is the game on disc + season pass code :)

"Consistent 60 on all platforms" yet requiring a patch to improve framerate on PS4, okay.

I'm getting so damn sick of all this resolutiongate and framegate and etc

I suspect Sony are mandating 1080p or 60fps and these post release patches somehow are a loophole.

I am not, they are fun....

MS decided that graphics and performance were not the main driver in the design and the living room was.....whatever that means....

and as such I hope that the internet and users will keep reminding them of that mistake on every underperforming multiplat for the next 5 years.

We consume games media by watching a TV or monitor, so its the primary interface with the game, of course pixels and fps are important aspects of any game.
