That doesn't sound like "preloading" to me?
http://blog.us.playstation.com/2014...ming-soon-introducing-sharefactory/#sf2718489Providing you with immediate access to your games is a priority designed into PS4, and something we will always strive to make better. Weve had a great response from PS4 fans about the Play as You Download feature, the snappy load times when launching and playing games, and the general speed and responsiveness of the UI. The 1.70 update adds features to build on this idea and make it faster to play the games you pre-order with an auto pre-download capability, which allows you to pre-download your select pre-ordered game up to several days prior to release. If you have the auto-download feature enabled, it will automatically pre-download your pre-ordered game so you can play as soon as the game is unlocked on release day.

It doesn't? Well then you need to get your reading skills checked out.
i'tll be like 25, 50, 75, and 100%
@Tidux any idea if ds4 light bar dimming is included in 1.70? Shu mentioned it a few weeks ago.
@Tidux 55s
@henhowc yes!
Well have more information to share about new upcoming features for this major system software update as the release approaches, so stay tuned!
Wonder how much longer the DS4 battery will last on the lowest dim setting. Right now I have to charge it every 1-2 game sessions, which is laughable.
probably the same and everyone will start raging again and demand an option to turn it off completely. lol

yep
i dont know why everyone is so convinced that stupid little led is the reason the battery gets drained fast when there's like 3 sensors, a trackpad and bluetooth audio being streamed to the controller

Didn't people already disconnect the LED and it basically doubled the battery life?
Exactly im suprised people havent realized that..The LED has very little impact on battery life.

They cheaped out on the battery, that's why the battery life sucks. Put in a PS3 battery and it almost doubles the life.

wait, really? isn't the ds4 battery high capacity, too?

I believe DS4 has a 1000mah battery, wheras the DS3 has a 1800mah battery. You can replace it with a DS3 battery and it almost doubles the battery life. Somebody did it here recently.
i think that 1800mah battery is a 3rd party one though. the one in the controller is 570 mah according to wikipedia

edit: i don't know what the stock DS3 is, but replacing it with a DS3 replacement (1800mah) almost double life.
Are you sure about that? The section I quoted would suggest that you can preorder, and the after the game is released it would automatically download. Wouldn't "preloading" mean the ability to make the download several days before release?
Luckily someone was nice enough to be constructive and cleared it up. Thanks though!
at the very least maybe it will appease those complaining about the reflection off their tvs

When you pre-order:
- A countdown will be displayed until the release date.
- Automatically download so you can play it once it's available.
I wonder if that means when the game releases at retail(12AM) it'll also be on PSN, or if you'll have to wait till mid-afternoon for them to update PSN and only then will it unlock your pre-loaded game to play.

It means when it's available to pre-load it will, before it launches, just like steam.
I just switched the battery from my DS3 to my DS4, let's see how it works out.
He means when will the game unlock for those pre-loads. Will it be the moment the clock changes to the day of release, or will it be later in the day.
I am guessing the usual 12:00am PST when all clocks are past midnight.
Wasn't there a game on PS3 that Sony allowed to pre load and people were able to hack the file somehow to start it? I vaguely remember this. Maybe they couldn't play the game, but I remember a problem arising from the preload. Was it GTA V?

It has varied by game. Some have been 12EST, like Ground Zeroes, while Infamous was 12PST if I'm not mistaken.
I imagine that once pre-loading is here, Sony might standardize it.
It'd be best if they did it off the timezone the local system is in and try keep it in line by confirming the correct system time before doing it. Obviously people could change the system time but there would have to be a system in place to do some sort of geolocation of the IP address to confirm it's the correct time zone to perform the unlock.
I've never pre-loaded a game from Steam but I would assume they have a similar system in place since people seem to be able to VPN to another country and unlock a game a day early.
