I am man enough to admit it... I am a HUGE Justin Wong fan.

What got me into Marvel was in fact Justin Wong. I was dabbling in some MVC1/MVC2 when I heard of this guy who was supposedly the best. So I downloaded some of his videos (no Youtube back then) and I was impressed in the simplicity of his play. I felt like if I was good enough I could do what he did. I didn't use the exact same team as him (I played some Cable/Storm/CapCom in MVC2) but I tried to replicate his strats/tactics. He is all business, no non sense. Hell even when he played MVC3 I jacked his stuff straight up. Definitely the first person I knew about in the FGC.

I never hated him for being "lame" or his character choices. His performance in MVC3 especially lately has reinvigorated my enjoyment of his play. I don't care if I am the only one... when Justin opens someone up with the basic "jump in with j.S, cr.L" no mix up mix up it gets me hype.... because the mix up is so simple yet poetic in how Justin plays.

But you didn't say anything bad about him. You just acted like an ass in another thread because you usually get away with it in THIS thread.

damn beef how u really feel?

i made the comment that sakurai was not a god and has for 14 years shit on his most loyal fanbase in a thread meant to praise him. how is telling the truth being an ass?

Jazz and Deckard should fight each other in the game of their choice and whoever loses has to leave gaf forever.

deckard and i are fine. the problem is weasels like you who cant keep our names out of their mouths. fall back little boy

im finally watching the smash bros documentary and its presented well. i do have one prob tho. when they initially describe how melee is different from traditional 2d fighters the way people answer the question is really lol...for example, this gem: "in 2d fighters u have charge moves and u have to learn combos, but in smash u make ur own combos!"

"in 2dfighters u just memorize presses and do the combos but in smash you have to think a lot more"

:/
cmon guy...

"I have run a lot of game tournaments ive run madden, TEKKEN, gears of war, call of duty, halo....but i think smash melee is one of the most intricate/complex games out there"

hahaha

The real history behind this cartoon is...creepy

The fan theory stuff? It is creepy as hell... Angelica on meds for schizophrenia is certainly an eye-opener and not only that, all the hints that led to it...

Nah man, Deckard was an asshole but he was obviously trolling. Not that I'm accepting his attitude but after he got banned he mellowed out. Instead of trolling, he contributes to the conversations here after getting banned. He hasn't sparked up since then, I'm almost tempted to troll him and see if he replies back in the same manner...

Thanks man, it's a really tough match for Gief. Your best tool to get in is EX greenhand, blow me up when I'm fireball happy or you see me throwing out random limbs.

Ultra 2 is the best ultra even if you never use it. Make me afraid to anti-air you with ex bird (she's airborne during this move so U2 catches her). It also can make me afraid to backdash off the jump in mixup (also airborne there).

Remember Chun bleeds and Gief deals damage, accept that you'll get hit a lot on your way in but once you get in, keep the pressure on Chun. Basically any trade is in your favour.

I try to play the matchup a lot less boring than it can be when playing casuals (IE I go in) but remember if you're playing Chun in a serious fashion that she has no reason to go in, ever, and she should know that. It's a game of waiting for the Chun player to get impatient which can give you your opening.

Great advice Vulva! Thanks! I realized you never ex bird kick when I had a full stock for U2. I was saying "this guys knows whats up, first chun li ive ever seen not do an ex bird kick on gief when he is empty jumping"

A few other things to note.

If I'm 3/4s of the screen away from you, be careful about focusing fireballs. Her dash is dumb and her limbs go far so I can blow you up on the focus and get you to eat a roundhouse after absorbing a fireball.

Also if I have Ultra 1, never lariat a fireball. That's what I want. I will U1 you every time if you lariat a fireball.

Yeah, her reach is ridiculous -_-

U1 too stronk

All those dumb fan theories about Rugrats being true are as likely as there being a UMvC3 patch

BakedYams finally lost it. It was the last time he was going to take Smedwicks usual jokes and silence him forever. However, BakedYams lacked the power to kill Smedwicks so he had to trick Shouta to gain enough strength to do so. Yams placed a gundam figurine at the bottom of a crate that had a stick holding it up with a string wrapped around it. Gundamn fans always fall for this and so did Shouta. Shouta screamed to the top of his lungs "God damn it, I knew I should have kept you banned!" Yams x-factored through the crate and ate Shouta's heart and became the new threat around GAF. He patiently waited for Smedwicks to pull another one of his jokes to seal the deal and eliminate him. Sadly, another victim was caught in the crossfire, Dahbomb was professing his love for Justin Wong while Yams felt a hint of jealousy that Dahbomb would worship Wustin Jong's wolverine instead of his. Yams mailed 50 pounds of daifukus to Dahbomb and Dahbomb was never heard of again.... Part 2 later on Kappa

I don't troll, I say how I feel period. No filter No Bullshit, & it rubs some people the wrong way.

Example, Melee is not that deep. This is a fact It's deeper than it appears on the surface.& it has techniques but at the end of the day it's just another basic all be it unique footsie based fighter with very limited meta outside of it. Melee appears deeper than it is to normal FGC people because it's so awkward and foreign in design.

The Rugrat theory (I have only heard of the one) is pretty fucked up.

You mean the one about Angelica imagining the entire show or whatever? It's dumb and untrue, just like every single one of those fan theories where someone is in a coma or dead. Concocted by middle schoolers or people who just took a college course that "opened their mind" or some shit.

I agree with you on Justin being the "Daigo" of UMvC3, in the sense that his play transcends his character choices. But him winning wouldn't change anything. Everyone else would play cheap still.

People's problems wtih UMvC3:
1. The same people keep winning
2. The same characters keep winning

So the hero for our story would be ClockWork. He took the derpest shell in the entire game + the staple assist character and pulled off some of the most amazing things at NCR. The quality of a fighting game isn't solely measured by how many unique butterflies there are in top play. Clock's play tells pretty much everyone who can only appreciate a game through "character balance" to shove it. What will save marvel isn't new fad point character+ beam assist. It's people coming to the realization and acceptance that Marvel is about the optimization of cheap shit.

What is this Rugrats theory that y'all speak of?

Ive heard of one.. but I don't think its it.

Angelica is on drugs and imagines the entire world of rugrats.

Thanks, its not like I wanted to kill time.

Yep, that's the one. I've heard it a long time ago and got a bit freaked out, specially because I loved the show when I was a kid. But yeah, lies

I agree with this.

Only thing that I don't agree with is that Justin winning wouldn't change anything. Yes, people would still play cheap teams (why wouldn't they) but how they pilot their teams would be different. At that point you start to say to yourself "I play the cheapest team possible but I still can't win against this guy who uses a clearly worse team than me.. what's missing?"

You provide a good example with Clockwork. He took something that was "standard" for the game and made his own. Whenever he's playing that team you KNOW it's Clockwork playing. So I guess that is what I feel would change if Justin would win... people learn to specialize deeper in their teams. That is what I feel separates gods from the rest aside from consistency... each of them is a true specialist of their team. It's why you are very rarely if ever going to see a Magneto/Doom/Vergil player win a major... most of those players haven't completely specialized in the team yet and really only picked it up because it was the cheap stuff that everyone else was using.

LEGIT.

SHOOK.

UMVC3 has reached MVC2 tournament status at this point. Meaning, pretty much the tournaments outside of EVO are whatever. Same old shit. And just like Marvel 2 what's become far more interestinf are these exhibitions or high stakes MMs.
