This actually infuriates me, assuming there's no other way to upgrade the vehicle, people who don't pre-order it will be stuck lagging behind others? And that's one less color customization that can be used for everyone else. Ugh.
There totally is dude, don't worry.
It's funny, the one exclusive is the one that completely disrupts team play. Jet ahead of your friends, then wait for them to catch up.,,,,

Given the picture that was posted in this thread earlier about Gamestop having an exclusive Sparrow as well, there is likely a different color speeder exclusive to each major retailer. We'll have to wait and see to confirm it, but I doubt that any retailers outside of mom and pop stores will not have an "exclusive" Sparrow for pre-ordering.
beta must be around the corner if friends and family is out. 2-3 weeks top.

You know there is a problem when it's a retailer that's hyping the game for you.
This video looks far more interesting than what we've heard for over a year.
(obviously this "retailer exclusive"-thing sucks but at least we finally get to see more of those vehicles)

They will be until Destiny 2 where they go current-gen only. But Bungie has most certainly built an engine that can scale well between the two platforms, which is why the current-gen one looks pretty good.
But I would be surprised if the last-gen ones didn't run and look fine.

Ugh, a preorder bonus with totally exclusive upgrades that you definitely can't achieve by playing the game normally anyway.
I saw that before I posted which is good news. I wasn't talking specifically of that video, but in general and my experience with past games.

The pre-order video does worry me a bit because it was Old Russia. I really hope Old Russia isn't all that we are gonna see today.

I have friends on XBO and friends on PS4. I have never bought the same game twice but would consider it for this game if it's good enough, so that I can play with all my friends. But what if I buy a super cool cape with my logo on it? Or some other DLC. Is that going to be sold through PSN and Xbox Live? Or unlocked through a destiny site? Meaning, will my PS4 and XBO character have access to the same purchased content?
My guess is the current answer is either "no" or "we have no idea at this point". but I just thought I'd toss that out there in case someone had some surprising insight.

We don't really know but it can be safely assumed.
The XBO, PS4, and PC are on completely different servers. Any DLC purchased for a specific platform stays on that platform.

It seems like there could still be a central database of purchases made run by Bungie/Activision. but it's probably a long shot, as you predict.
Does Blizzard maintain a databse of sales for Diablo 3 or is that all handled through the platofrm store? Steam/PSN/XBL?
I think I just need to convince my friends to get onto the same platform even if that means buying another console.

It was a general statement in-case it ever comes to PC. I just wanted to emphasize that in no way, would Microsoft allow their servers to communicate with PS4 servers.
Any sharing would have to be done on Bungie servers. (think FFXIV sharing between PC and PS3 and PS4)

That retailer trailer got me hyped more than most of the stuff we've been getting recently. Jumping mid air into a sparrow and zooming around the huge maps with your friends taking down packs of enemies, exploring, looting, etc.
The dream is starting to come together!

Same here. Bungie said that items that are able to be purchased will be purely cosmetic, but giving those who pre-order and exclusive version of a vehicle that's enhanced isn't setting a good precedent.
Are we getting any substantive gameplay footage today?
The trailers that have been released thus far only show 1-2 second snippets of actual gameplay.

We should. Bungie invited loads of journalists to play the current alpha build and the embargo lifts at that time.
Expect to see many new gameplay videos and impressions today. If we are super lucky we may find out about a collectors edition and/or get beta info; however, I suspect today will be primarily gameplay.
