New Destiny Gameplay

I wouldn't call Warframe's f2p bits horrible at all (for now anyway), but it'll be interesting to compare those f2p bits up against whatever this game will end up selling on the marketplace.

Well for me, I mean mostly in terms of weapons and character customization. Unless you were paying or grinding like mad, you had to pretty much stick to the default gun and character. I didn't like that at all. I don't think all Warframe F2P elements are horrible, but those ones were for me.

That looked very boring to me. Borderlands minus the charm. I don't see much Halo in the gameplay. Almost looks like a first person Mass Effect at times.

Agreed.

What made halo special was battlefield control and smart AI. This looks more like a first person diablo game with the art style of a borderlands game made by people who cling on to the title of "creators of halo"

LOL whatever makes you sleep at night, none of my friends no longer play it so how can my GROUP play his??

The skill of one group over another means SQUAT to the depth of a game. He might or might not beat me at COD too point??? IS that a deep strategic game?? NOPE>

Either way, just wishfull thinking you have zero clue about how I am at titanfall or any game, the rest is pure BS and speculation.

My 8 year old nephew picked up TF without a hitch, he cannot play BF4 it's too over whelming for him,.

I am just baffled as to what they would gain by playing you at a game :/

Beating you at a game suddenly adds depth too it's gamemodes? Man the lengths people go too to justify something.

Watched the video again now that I'm home. Looks like it'll be fun enough. I'll definitely check it out since pickings are slim. Happy I have a PS4 to play it on. Looks very nice visually.

Titanfall has none of that dymanic depth, scope a game like BF4 does, reviews even talking about its lack of depth.

I wouldn't take reviews seriously when they are talking about depth. They play the game for a week and then drop it for the next game they are reviewing.

Should rename this place NegGaf for Negative Gaf lol. Lots of peeps so quickly look down on things here.

Its not our job to hype up boring videos.

It's desperation, they got nothing else, it's bizarre. It's like the "You must suck" if you dont like a game, it's hyperbole at its finest.

It takes way less to see the so called DEPTH of titanfall.......they were right in this case the game is limited, pretty shallow.

You came to the wrong neighbourhood.

Well, I imagine there were a number of considerations: wanting something more structured and narrative driven, something from earlier levels so as to not overwhelm with information or to spoil too much too soon, and also something that is a little more familiar to Bungie's audience from the outset. We do know, though, that what we saw in this video wasn't even close to representative of the "total package" - even in terms of strike missions specifically, I'm sure there are various nuances that will come more into play later on.

That said, I actually didn't know about strike missions prior to watching the video. At some point I thought to myself, "Is this supposed to be a 'dungeon'?" because it really felt tailored like one, disconnected from the wider world and all.
Second part is exactly how I felt too.

I understand that marketing campaigns are specifically crafted and don't want to spoil too much for the audience, but I feel the focus on Russia has become stale and we haven't gotten that "shared world experience" that we got from that one ViDoc a while ago.

I hope their showing at E3 is more revealing of features and settings than it has been so far.

Looks bland and generic as fuck. Really, a section where you have to fend off waves of enemies while the robot decodes something? First time I've seen this.

Yes please, does Bungie not understand this?

It's really sorta funny how they've hyped up their big sweeping world and these large scale ideas in last year's vidoc and the press event. Then they go and release 2 basic combat videos that wouldn't look too out of place in a Halo sequel. I still really don't understand what the overall structure and flow of the game is supposed to be.

I know it's tough to convey those things in a short video, but releasing little linear snippets of gameplay doesn't really do much to show what's new and exciting about Destiny.

Yeah you're clearly too scared to play him at Titanfall either from the fact you're awful at the game and won't be able to back up your comments about the game having no depth or from not actually owning the game.

Either way take your L and move on.

What does that even mean? Having proficiency in something doesn't mean that thing has depth. You might be a particularly fast runner but that doesn't mean that the 100m dash has a lot of depth to it.

This thread proves nothing. You would be hard pressed to convince an outsider that we actually *like* games here.

It's never dull though :)

People want new gameplay. For me corridor shooters no longer cut it, or simple team death match games for that matter. That's why I'm not to impressed with The Order. It's too linear. Dragon Age Inquisition has peaked my interest even thought after DA2 it was going to be a hard sell. I also like how Evolve is trying to add something new in the multiplayer space.

Tonnes of hyperbole and comments that go WAY beyond that..................

People are commenting on footage they have seen. What else do you want them to do? All we have been shown so far is a few strike missions and glimpses of other stuff. The rest is talk about stuff we really want to see but haven't yet.

It's like telling people to stop saying a movie looks bland based on its reveal trailer just because the synopsis sounds epic. If the trailer was shit that's the impression people will take from it.

I'm pretty sure that what everyone wants is 7 minutes of free roam

"The desert is so empty, I was hoping for my inspired gameplay"

"The snow looks nice but where's all the enemies"

"So all you do in this game is wander around"

They could show anything next and it won't be enough. People literally want a run through of the game.

That looked so much like Halo, and I loved Halo; but at the same time I wonder if it should evolve a bit more - the enemies were
really
really dumb.

I swear, I want to get hyped for Destiny, but it seems like every time they show this game off, it's always some really boring quest/mission in some dank, dark, and ugly location. Is that how the whole game will be? The game looks a lot more entertaining when you're out in the open with the beautiful sky and good lighting. I just started to zone out when watching this like I was gonna fall asleep.

I don't think this game works like you think it does. My feel is that it is like Guild Wars 1 where you have essentially a 3D matchmaking area. Once you form your party you go off into an instanced world that will link up to other instanced worlds from time to time for special fights. Even with a million players the game isn't going to look a lot different than this for the Strike game type at least.

I'm not sure what you are implying that I meant, but how does what you said (cities are matchmaking areas) discount what I said? If there aren't people to match with right now, because the servers aren't populated - then what is there to show off about the matchmaking part of the game? It's an empty city?

People were complaining that you didn't get to see that aspect of the game. Nobody's probably going to see that until the beta.

Agree, there is no pleasing gamers today, at least not the types who frequent forums.

saw the gamersyde footage and i think all the video previews.

bottom line it looks incredibly fun :) and that was just a strike mission!

showed the video to a few casual gamer friends, they got so giddy over the special moves :p

boy i can't wait.

It looks okay. I'm not wowed or anything but it still looks like I'll pick it up. I have it preordered on Amazon for too much money at the moment. I preordered yesterday to get a beta access code. I wonder how it is when trying to play alone. Looking forward to seeing more at E3.

The beta will determine whether or not I keep the preoder or cancel it.

People want to see the huge scope Bungie has been talking about for a year now, instead of yet another hallway shooting segment in the same freaking area as the reveal from a year ago.

I saw this 7 minute trailer and I still have no idea what this game is even supposed to be. It looks like a generic co-op shooter, it's only because I read up on stuff that I know that there apparantly is way more to this game than that.

So yeah, don't TELL me how amazingly huge and awesome your game is is after a year of teasing, SHOW me.

Better than the shit they showed today.

Why is Bungie so reluctant to show some of the RPG elements of the game? With the most recent video, most people seem to agree that the game looks boring - and upon viewing the most recent trailer, they're probably right. It really doesn't show anything other than running and shooting.

From my understanding, however, each class will have talent trees. Each weapon will also have its own individual talent trees and unique perks. Each player has a character screen akin to WoW or Diablo that has empty slots available for gear. I feel this is what they need to show - show us a novel environment with a player picking up some new loot, and then customizing their talents and gear.

Tonnes of hyperbole and comments that go WAY beyond that..................

Why does it matter so much if other people like it? As others have pointed out, you sure don't like some games (Titanfall)...so why should everyone simply be living what they have seen of Destiny?

Personally, I have been a fan of everything Bungie has done in the past, but Destiny has just not been getting me excited. I have been wanting to get really excited for it, but nothing they have shown has interested me. If it were any other developer, I would really not be paying attention to this game anymore (that should tell you how big of a Bungie fan I have been).

I can't quite put my finger on why I'm not excited...
It could just be that the videos they have released aren't showing very exciting events happening in the game...
Or maybe I'm just not into what they've revealed about the story/universe so far?
Maybe it just isn't that great of a game (being Bungie, this isn't my first thought)?
Maybe I'm just more jaded than I used to be and don't get excited for games anymore (I think this isn't the case as I've been excited for games recently...)?

I really don't know yet, and I'm not going to pass complete judgement until I at least play it in the Beta. But, so far, what they have shown hasn't really been very exciting to me. I don't have anywhere near the level of excitement I had before any of Bungie's Halo games. Maybe MS' money really made their hype/advertising that much better...

Very underwhelming. Combat looks functional, if not spectacular. The magic abilities are the only bit that stood out to me.

I don't doubt Bungie can make this game spectacular, but this isn't convincing me. That was a dull mission contextualized by a paper-thin narrative, and the most exciting thing about it was the production quality. I'll need to play the beta before I'm on board with this.

Forums are to discuss games, not to just compliment them.

Didn't say that, but most are simply impossible to please, if you listen to people here infamous, watch dogs, destiny and on and on look like crap. Forusm are oppressively negative about almost anything game related, makes me wonder why half of you play games lol.

That was very mediocre. Doesn't do anything for me. Wow, a mini squad shooter with loot and shit AI. Not even friendly fire. Seems like there is almost 0 skill involved. Not what I expected.

I expected a cross between Halo and WoW raids... looks like I got Halo 0.9.
Please be a joke post?

Warframe is a boring game.

You play the same missions, over and over and over again. The only reason you play is to get new weapons and gear. I've put 250 hours in that game and it felt like a waste of time. I admit it was addictive for about 2 weeks but beyond that I've lost any desire to step foot in that game.

If the video started at around the 4 minute mark, I think you'd have a point. Unfortunately, this isn't Journey, this is the follow up game by the makers of Halo.

But, please, continue acting like the first half of that video didn't exist.

Could have just been a singleplayer/co-op game. Nothing shown have felt MMO except that one time there were two groups of people shooting at a tank in a enclosed space.

Still looks fun, I am hoping for a PC version so that I could play with friends. My console friends lists are barren and lonely. :(
