3DS revision (2DS in a clamshell?)
Gamepadless Wii U revision with hardware change to make it look less like a Wii U. Maybe with a completely different name.
QoL
3DS successor

I wonder if any investors will hint at this rumor.

Interesting rumor. Too soon for new hardware outright. Has to be some kind of revision if it's gaming related. A sleeker Wii U gamepad and a more attractive price to go along with it may make it more attractive to some people. There are already too many revisions of the 3DS. It seems a little too soon for a QOL reveal, unless it's just a high level overview of what their plans for the hardware is.

Really hoping this isn't true, feels like a slap in the face for everyone who bought a wii u for them to just trash it do soon.

Hopefully, if it I don't true, people who own site wii u get some kind if discount, and the new system better be backwards compatible.

The one thing it clearly won't be is a more powerful home console. That's pretty much the last thing it would be out of all the available choices.

There's silly things, and then there are things that would erode consumer faith in the company and potentially destroy their business.

Like the Wii U? I think I've lost count of how many times I've heard the phrase "I bought one at launch but I wish I didn't" when talking about it, especially since Nintendo seems to have developed a habit of significantly slashing prices less than a year into the life cycle.

I bought a 3DS at launch, and they later taught me that this was a mistake. Is that not "eroding consumer faith"?

If people had faith, they'd have bought a Wii U.

Not a WiiU revision simply because of MK8 bundle already annouced and being manufactured.

Exactly. They aren't going to announce a revision less than two weeks after their biggest game of the year is released, alongside a new bundle.

It'll be QOL or 3DS revision, I'm certain.

Why does everyone want a new console to replace the WiiU ?

Why don't these people just buy a WiiU ?

What are people like me supposed to do who shelled out £300 at launch for a WiiU supposed to do ?

Will Nintendo delve into their huge cash pile & give us all a free upgrade to the replacement, because i very much doubt it & what makes people think we will go out & spend more money because i already have, i have now got a PS4 as well.

If Nintendo drop the WiiU i'm gonna set fire to my WiiU & never buy anything from them again, i will be disgusted by them if they do this i really will :( it's not even two years old yet !

Wants the largest console games publisher to avoid Nintendo's platforms.
This one. x86 is still used and updated to this day, PowerPC is dead.
Tell that to google who just announced their next server-farm platform. Guess what architecture it is.

As evidence by the Wii U, PowerPC is still used and updated to this day. It may not be cutting edge, but it's still used.

By one company. x86 is used by pretty much every PC, and now the PS4 and Xbone.
I'm not arguing against Nintendo using it, I think it is smart for them to stick with it, but to argue that it is just as modern as x86 is foolish.

I think the only thing they could reveal hardware-wise that would get me excited would be their own VR system, but it's not gonna happen.

Would a revised Wii U make any sense? You'd think if anything nintendo is probably much closer to shutting down production of the Wii u than they are to starting production of a new version of a product that sells so poorly.

It would make sense if by some miracle they were able to come up with a way to cut production costs and release a cheaper SKU.

Its not to soon for a new handheld announcement if its releasing next year. We also have heard rumors Nintendo is far along in dev for new hardware

Hopefully its true as I'm kind of tired of the 3ds's tech and form factor

Again, they already have one, it comes with every Wii U. Unless you specifically mean something that you strap to your face.

Woah, QoL reveal is this year?! I thought this was their next console/handheld, what are they planning the QoL for? To replace 3DS/Wii U? Or be something entirely new?

Because the Wii U is effectively dead - why should they buy one?

And I already own one, so.

My prediction:

Nintendo is cutting off the rotten WiiU limb earlier than expected as to not kill the rest of the company. It's selling at half the rate of the Gamecube, it's over. Done. Lets move on.

Hybrid portable / home console.

Maybe in a tablet form factor with circle pads and buttons on the sides and HDMI out.

Works with all Nintendo's BT controllers, Wiimote Plus and WiiU pro controller compatible.

Similar power to or maybe a little better than the WiiU so they can share Nintendo first party games moving forward and Nintendo doesn't totally bone WiiU owners.

Backwards compatible with 3DS with cart slot.

All of Nintendo's dev teams can now work on a single piece of hardware in a year to 18 months to give it continuous support throughout the year.

Nintendo will still be almost useless for AAA 3rd party games but mobile type games from 3rd parties should be there.

And with this Nintendo might remain relevant.

A Wii U successor is pretty much out the window right now, right? I think it's way too soon for that.
So that leaves us with the handheld revision or something entirely new even tho I think it's too soon for a 3DS successor as well.

They should just make their next handheld capable of wirelessly outputting to a TV, similar to Chromecast, and never release a home console again. On the go it would function like a DS, and at home, it would function like a Wii U.

I suppose at some point they could design a handheld with way more power than could be realistically used as a portable. Lock it down to a manageable level of performance relative to power consumption and heat production. Then have a dock that it would sync up with which would provide a more robust power source and a powered fan to dissipate heat, along with an HDMI out.
The dock could be even more involved than that, but that would allow much greater performance by itself.

There are 0 revisions of the 3DS. we got the XL, which is huge and clunky. And the 2DS, which is an unpocketable toy. It's far too early for a new home console, so it absolutely will not be a successor to the Wii U.

Lol... You're suggesting that Nintendo the only one that still uses PowerPC which is completely false and also arguing that it's not as modern which is also completely false. Type in IBM supercomputer into google.

No more gimmicks from Nintendo.

Wii U revision, no gamepad, more cost efficient hardware and design - $199 or less.

doubt it

if they were doing a hardware reveal an actual press conference would be the ideal way to reveal it, not through a direct

but wtf do i know

Should probably not trust the 7-11 security cameras quite so much
It's going to be their QoL platform which will be $100 and play WiiFit plus other new lifestyle titles.

It's not going to be a GamePad-less Wii U, Iwata already said that this year their teams would focus on AAA software that uses the gamepad.

"Third party front"? I thought gaming compaines make games, not "life" stuff (unless it's EA). I'm sure that only Nintendo will support that QoL thing.

What would Nintendo Devs do with that much power? They are still learning last gen tech and haven't topped PS3's best games. Console power isnt their problem. It's now developer talent that they lack, at least on the graphics front.
This trite is still getting thrown around?
