Possible news of interest for Persona fans coming this Friday [up: P4G Animation]

I would have preferred a Persona 4 Arena anime to a Persona 4 Golden anime, but I guess I'm interested to see how it differs from the first series.

Persona 3: FES the anime and Persona 3: FEMMC edition when? Its pretty absurd that they won't even give Persona 2 a second glance when the story is better than both the 'modern' Personas. But wait, we need Persona 4...again....

I played p2 and while it is great it is nowhere near p4 level.

I do not think anything new is likely to come of Persona 2. Some of the actors are retired or have passed away.

Certainly not an anime adaptation.

What? Storywise P2 is miles better than P4, so is P3.

But I don't blame them for making another P4 one, it is far more popular.

I dunno, arena was pretty dumb, fine for a fighting game story, but for an anime?

I think a fair amount of that was due to the format. Also, I hear the manga is pretty good...

I feel like P3 should've at least got something. I mean we never got next gen re-release of it yet so why the heck not. I probably should've known it'd just be P4 related since it was just the seiyuus Tomokazu Seki and Daisuke Namikawa.

But another anime? P4G had a lot of animated cutscenes so I feel an anime is just too much extra. Then again it's an animation studio so it was never game related in the first place.

Crying inside because in my heart I know that Aniplex USA will get this and gouge us all with their pricing.

So watching this will make up for the fact that I did not play Golden yet right guys?
.... Damn I have to buy a Vita
Unrealistic as it may have sound I was kind of hoping for a Persona 3 Ultimate edition on the 3DS. But Person Q is already coming, and that was pretty surprising in itself.

Are they remaking the anime from scratch or are they simply rereleasing the existing one with new scenes brute-forced in ?

It's a different animation studio. Presumably, they're making it all from scratch again.

I actually have high hopes, because as I noted in the Persona community thread, this studio did the in-game cutscenes for vanilla Persona 4. At the very least, the quality will be decent and way above the original AIC ASTA anime.

I wonder if they'll (a.) translate it into English, (b.) dub it into English and (c.) use the same voice cast (yet again) for it.

But the anime cutscenes in Persona 4 were terrible. They were super ugly. And the Persona 4 anime looked much better.

I don't know about this.

Hopefully they keep Troy Baker as Kanji the whole way through (granted, he had a honeymoon, but they could have waited, we wouldn't mind).

And they better get Naoto's original VA (albeit with her identity kept secret to keep the mystery VA happy).

I don't know about this.

The original cutscenes from vanilla Persona 4 are leagues better than the barely animated scenes from the anime. They've naturally been compressed to fit on a DVD, of course, so they're not going to look as good as they could be. But still....

There was some seriously lousy/rushed effort in that anime adaptation. Between all the animation errors and just plain not animating people at times, it was a wreck. :\

what's this double chie moment you guys mentioned that was in the Anime. I don't remember anything like that.

Let's be fair, the anime wasted a ton of time on stuff it didn't have to (e.g. the entire Nanako detective episode) - that means this time they can drop it all and focus more on the important parts along with the new content.

YOU SHUT YOUR MOUTH THAT EPISODE WAS AWESOME. But more seriously, that was to encapsulate pretty much all the summer social links. I guess you could've just kept the episode from Yu's perspective but meh. It still feels like cramming more material in would further hurt the integrity of the storyline, even if they did remove "superfluous" material (which I honestly don't think is superfluous because it's new material separate from the game).

Watermelon episode:

I believe it was fixed for the Blu-Ray/DVD release.

EDIT: lol double double chie

I wonder if they are gonna keep Marie's terrible poems in the anime. Marie I think you are great but your poems are awful.

Above the quality of the P4 anime, maybe, but still not amazing.

I hope they work with Studio 4C again at some point. Catherine's cutscenes looked legitimately brilliant.

Maybe for Persona 5: The Animation, hmm? ;)
