Wolfenstein: The New Order |OT| They put Nazis on the Moon, Scheiß auf den Mond!

What's weird about that is although the runtime restriction was removed, the activation restriction was not, so you still need to use a VPN to activate a ROW key. I'd like to say this is Bethesda throwing Austria a bone but I'd seek confirmation from Bethesda's community rep as it's entirely possible that the former restriction was removed in error.
Yes that's indeed strange. Activating via VPN wouldn't be that bad, but a VPN to even run the game would be too annoying.
The steam page only mentions German laws even in Austria. Bethesda probably just didn't bother to make a separate version for Austria and maybe that's why they at least removed the restriction. We usually don't get censored versions here.
Good idea. I might ask gstaff. Although, if this is indeed only an error maybe it's not wise to contact and then cause the error to be fixed.

'Wolfenstein: The New Order' dev: 'Inglorious Basterds' helpful with game's tone
http://www.examiner.com/article/wol...-inglorious-basterds-helpful-with-game-s-tone

From that article:
Wolfenstein: The New Order is slated for release on May 20 in North America and May 23 in Europe on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One, Xbox 360 and PC

I wonder what this is. The launch dates were different, and then aligned to all be on the 20th, so I wonder if that's a mistake or if this is related to the change to "May 2014" some people saw on the Steam store. I'm in the US so I don't really know, never moved dates for here.

If only the Collector Edition came with that Panzerhund

Man, didn't know Machinegames faced troubles and was close to shutting down from 2009-2010 until they went to id and met Tim Willits. It seems Bethesda didn't care about their pitches for original IP.

Man that lockpicking mini game looks hard. :p

Edit: Oof I can't watch this livestream any more...getting nauseous. Looks like pretty standard stuff. Nothing really outstanding so far, and it seems like that guy is pretty reliant on the map.

Gametrailers twitch stream from few days ago was PS4
Machinima twich stream from few days ago was Xbone

They both look fine, although I'm sure DF will find out what visual elements were downgraded for Xbone version.

pretty sure they will be the same

ps4 version looks as bad as x1

game doesnt look like a current gen game in the slightest

Yeah that level is mediocre at best.

Any reviews or impressions? After thief I'm being a little cautious about reboots. (Still liked thief generally but not mind blowing amazing)

Reallllllllllyyyyy hope this is good.

If Matthies is the creative heart of Machine Games, then Gustafsson is the head. He provides an anchor for the studio, keeping some of Matthies' crazier ideas from spinning it out of control. Apart from a short period of time during which Matthies worked on Syndicate and Gustafsson worked on the Riddick sequel, Dark Athena, the two men have been a team for most of 15 years. Matthies handles the narrative design, Gustafsson the gameplay.

"We know how to handle arguments," Gustafsson says. "We know how to handle conflict. We know when to leave a discussion and when to continue a discussion. We know each other so well. ... Of course, there's this battle between gameplay and narrative that we're constantly having, but I think we need that battle. We need someone to always fight for gameplay and we need someone to always fight for narrative. If we didn't have that, something would take over."

Gustafsson believes narrative won that battle for The Darkness, to that game's detriment, something Matthies believes as well. For Wolfenstein, both men believe they've finally gotten it right.

Kinda cool to see they realised that the gameplay in The Darkness wasn't so hot, but narrative absolutely won. Personally, Darkness 2 got both right, credit to Digital Extremes.

There is another person streaming on twitch.

Has this been posted? Polygon's Russ Pitts did a feature on the game. Reading through it right now.

Making Wolfenstein: A fight club on top of the world

Interesting stuff. Had no idea they struggled so much initially.

Also:

Gustaf Grefberg, senoir sound adviser: "We got a lot of very bold, strong echoes, especially if you're running through one of the bigger spaces and shooting," he says. "You get a sense of space when you do that. ... The guns are very loud, which means that a big portion of the sound comes from the environment, bouncing the sound back, not just from the explosive sound of the gun itself."

I hope that comes across in gameplay, it makes such a difference when shooting.

I hope there becomes another way to get the Doom beta other than just preordering. This game looks like a well made single player experience, I am just not seeing the 60 dollar value...for me at least. I can only justify waiting for a steam sale or whatnot

I'm kind of tired of being quiet about the game, so screw it

After the prologue this game gets awesome. I'm loving it so far. More than anything, the presentation is clear, and the shooting mechanics are cohesive as hell.

are the levels diverse ?

This game's gunplay looks so fucking ridiculously stellar and fresh compared to its competition. A handful of videos and I went from no interest to day 1.

anyone still watching the stream? The ai doesn't look very smart

is he playing on easy or something?

"Let them come", which should be medium. He says you should probably start with something harder, AI is pretty average right now. He also has the day 1 patch installed, so this probably isn't related to bugs.

If this game doesn't end with an assault on a Nazi moon base, I will be very disappointed.

I'm probably going to be disappointed.

They already clearly showed the sections on the moon base.
But location of the "endgame" is unknown.

Gonna stop watching now, but the best quality of this footage is, oddly enough, that it's deliberately NOT pure explosive combat the whole time. After a fairly big and loud encounter, he's been walking around with the laser weapon (more of a tool, really) for a while and the pace is nothing like any of the footage we've seen so far. I'm interested to see how they balance that over the course of the game knowing that many people will just be coming into it for the gunplay.

Do they only speak German in the German version? Or also in the uncensored versions?

German version should be fully dubbed. International version should be like Inglorious Basterds, with Germans speaking German unless they address a foreigner.

The weird thing though is that the German voice actors in the international version are better / more convincing than the ones in the German dub.

Way more than I expected.

In case anyone thinks I'm getting something out of saying good things about it, I came in with low expectations. I actually really like it so far.

If you think the gameplay videos look good, I can't see you walking away disappointed.
