NPD Sales Results for April 2014 [Up2: XB1/360 hardware, PS4 #1/XB1 #2 best selling]

I wonder what the 360 version of TF sold. Looks like the staggered release was a smart move as the 360 release likely is what kept it #1. I'm going to guess the Xbone version probably didn't sell many copies in April.

3DS numbers are bad as usual. Smash on 3DS will be one of the more interesting sales age stories to watch. I've been on the side that it won't do as well as the Wii U version in the west, and will fail to do that much as the local mp is so important.

I feel it has no chance of a comeback this gen, there is nothing that can turn the tides of resentment and disgust for the brand. A distant second place is not good enough, they should consider getting out of the console race.

With all the 180s MS has been doing, this might just happen.

I'm starting to wonder if we could possibly see Vita have better numbers than XB1 for May NPD.
The 2000 bundle is pretty much OoS everywhere local.

Not great numbers for the Xbox but its bound to get better.

And wow, did Infamous tank real quick. I have no idea what games PS4 users are playing right now.

the show, bound by flame (lol), various smaller digital games, the same mp they bought at launch (heh) etc.

Wow...115k XBO? That's some serious number. Very serious.

I have no idea how MSFT is going to get the XBO back on track. Titanfall failed to bring the much needed boosts, and there is nothing on the horizon (outside of E3) that can bring these numbers up.

There appears to be some serious apathy towards the XBO from a consumer standpoint, this is just not lack of interest. I'm curious to see how MSFT will deal with this in the coming months.

People is getting crazy in this thread. Time to bail out.

Please god, let WiiU be the best selling console in May. I want to see the meltdowns.

Spin it baby.

I don't have the faintest idea what you're talking about. :p

smash will be a huge hit on 3DS..

I can't tell if Kinect Sports Rivals was a bomb or not.

Xbox One and Xbox 360 together held eight of the top 10 spots on the generation eight and generation seven console game list in the U.S.: “Titanfall” (Xbox One), “Kinect Sports Rivals” (Xbox One), “Titanfall” (Xbox 360), “Call of Duty: Ghosts” (Xbox 360), “NBA 2K14” (Xbox 360), “Grand Theft Auto V” (Xbox 360), “Minecraft” (Xbox 360) and “Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare” (Xbox 360).

I don't see Kinect Sports up on that list though? Any ideas how well the game performed?

lol That would be pretty Epic, but the only thing that could stop the PS4, at this point, is Destiny being a total Flop.

Question:

How long can the NPD group continue to not track digital sales and still remain relevant?

By their own admission the NPD group only covers 60% of the US market.

"The NPD Group’s total US numbers are based on reports from around 60 percent of US retailers."

Taken from one of their own PR statements.

So how long before NPD starts providing digital sales numbers? And how would that work? Would they have to partner with the various content providers? Would they simply provide estimates?

We got 3ds numbers?

All through this thread I kept wondering why everyone was think May would drop like a brick for Xbone and I didn't understand, I really totally forgot the price drop isn't until June.
Shit, gonna be a rough few weeks at MS HQ.

Really surprised Infamous isn't on the charts this month. It's one of the first games I plan on buying when I eventually get a PS4.

but but the 3DS version releasing first ensures that more people will double dip!
(I personally think the 3DS version will do better, but the hilarious thing is if it doesn't all the Nintendo fans claiming the Wii U version would do better just cut off their nose to spite their face)
