bish gets all the credit :)
erm, why are they cropping this to 16x9? :|

How are they doing this in 1080p?
(or was the series shot in 21:9 film?)
Film is much higher resolution. 4:3 1080p is 1440x1080.

Dugpa: I’ve been reading that there are a few TV series these days that were originally shot in 4:3 are now being reframed and transferred to fit 16×9 widescreen displays. Was there any talk about doing this for Twin Peaks?

Ryan Adams: No, we would never take David’s originally framed aspect ratio and manipulate it to get a 16×9, we kept everything organic.

Dugpa: Can you confirm for me what the original aspect ratios were for the TV series including the Pilot?

Ryan Adams: 1:33.

"Twin Peak - The Entire Mystery is loaded with special features. In the two-part feature “Between Two Worlds,” Lynch himself interviews the Palmer family (Leland, Sarah and daughter Laura) about their current existence in this life and the next, and follows up with a discussion with the actors who portray them. "

This is probably gonna be worth the money alone

Holy shit, this sounds amazing

I hope this comes with a shit tonne of behind the scenes making of stuff, would love to see as much as possible from the set

I'm excited to see if the bonus material has anything about Audrey in it. Fenn has said that Season 3 had Audrey surviving, but I would imagine her handcuffed hands must have gotten ripped off in the explosion. How will Billy Zane deal?

oh man, i finally went through this series last year, and was bummed it ran out the way it did...can't wait to see the extra stuff!

also if we could edit down some of the civil war reenactment that'd be okay too

Everyone's talking about scary moments, for some reason for me, something simple like the end of the Pilot when the mother has her vision just scares the crap out of me. I cannot stand the way she looks and it feels like she's looking through the screen at me. I feel like it's a fourth wall breaking moment for a fleeting second and it creeps me out so badly, because I can't see what she's looking at(I know I technically can).

I have nightmares where people are looking over my shoulder, giving me the same terrified look. The unknown is what's scary.

Yeah, that's one of the memorable moments of the entire show for me. Very unsettling.

It would have been cool if the there was an actual cutout in the box and when you pulled the case out there would have been a complete picture of dead Laura Palmer.

That's a really cool idea.

I really really can't with this.

This is going to be the most deeply unsettling thing that's ever happened to our species.

Got the dvd box ages ago, but it seems I have to double dip! Such an awesome series, watched it for the first time last year.

This is absolutely incredible.

I haven't kept up over the years, but I thought that the deleted scenes from FWWM were doomed to be stuck in legal hell for the rest of time.

For those of you youngin's having trouble grasping the miraculousness of this release, imagine if 10 years down the line Fox suddenly released two "lost episodes" of Firefly.

Is it true that the original cut of the film actually got screened at Cannes, and was boo'ed? I always thought that was an apocryphal rumor...

Tree of Life (aka one of the GOAT movies) got booed at cannes. as did taxi driver, inglorious basterds and cronenberg's crash apparently.

edit: yes it did

I could believe that Cannes audiences boo'ed FWWM, but I always kinda doubted that it was the original 3+ hour cut of the film.

Again, all of the footage from the trailer is from FWWM.

Can we put that in the OP or something?

Added to OP.

It would have been cool if the there was an actual cutout in the box and when you pulled the case out there would have been a complete picture of dead Laura Palmer.

That's kind of what the original season 1 DVD set was like. It had a transparent slipcase with Laura's prom photo on it, and when you slipped it off it revealed the photo of her corpse underneath.

Season 2 was a complete mess post reveal (but I would argue also to a much lesser extent pre reveal). After S1 finale, I don't think the show ever had the constant quality of S1, but the first half of S2 was still very good and had amazing moments.

HOWEVER, everything, and I mean (almost) everything post reveal is fucking dumb as hell, not just Jame's storyline. The show went so far up its own ass it's crazy. The finale is wonderful, but that's being extremely kind to season 2 to say James was its only problem.
The James storyline is laughably bad, superhuman cheerleader Nadine is ridiculous, the Dick Tremayne baby drama stuff was weak, and Heather Graham's performance as Annie was about as dimensional as a piece of cardboard, but people seem to overlook that the last few episodes start getting pretty great again. Not as great as the who killed Laura Palmer storyline, but pretty damn good. The last episode is flat out amazing. Season 2 lulls for a few painful episodes, but it's not as bad overall as it's often made out to be.

I need this. Come soon to Italy/Europe please.

This. I want to put up my preorder ASAP!

Kind of OT but I did intensive marathon watchings of the series and the (IMO great!) movie this year since I'm currently in the progress of writing a 40 page thesis on Twin Peaks at university. Seeing the trailer, I realized that some of my arguments and interpretations might become obsolete not even 2 months after I have to get it graded (June 11th...) :D

Any word on differences between the American and European sets?

I'm still a bit mad at the horrible Gold Box DVD set we got in Europe.

Because that's all previously unused footage from Fire Walk With Me which was shot in 16:9.

I've got this pre-ordered. It comes out just before the Twin Peak's Fest, and my wife and I are spending a couple of days staying at the Salish (aka the hotel used for The Great Nothern's exterior) that weekend while we attend the fest.

It's going to be an amazing week or two of Twin Peaks.

Anyone else attending the fest this year?

Also, I have it on VERY GOOD authority that the audio levels in the Partyland scene of FWWM haven't been fucked up as they have been in previous releases. In other words, what that means, is that the dialogue will be very hard to hear against the loud music playing at the dive bar/nightclub where Laura and Donna go. Just as it should be.

Excellent news.

I've never attended the fest but I know the guy who used to run it. One of these years...
