So Ratchet & Clank: A Crack in Time, Dragon's Dogma, Rayman Origins, Donkey Kong Country Returns and Super Mario Galaxy 1 & 2 are all in the top 20? List is ok I guess.

I want it to be on the list, but at the same time it would be stupid to have it higher than a lot of what's already been. IGN gonna IGN I guess.

We are rating our games on a scale of one to ten to determine their quality - now take this list of how public perception made a game better or worse.

Definitely think the top 5 games SHOULD only include games that sold 10 million+

I think the top 5 (both critically as well commercially) will most likely be:

Super Mario Galaxy (1 or 2, but I prefer the first one)
The Last of Us
The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
Uncharted 2
Grand Theft Auto V

And despite not absolutely loving every one them (TLoU and UC2), I can find peace in this. But that means Mass Effect 2, Batman: Arkham City, Portal 2 etc. won't be in top 5. It's a pretty tough list to make and you'll never make everyone satisfied. Glad I'm not making the last,
people would riot
.

Nice to see that even IGN themselves realize that their reviews scores don't mean shit, as you could otherwise just rank the top 100 by their respective score :p

My only complaint is still that the game descriptions do little to explain their placement. Dark Souls and Demon's Souls are 50 places apart but share similar descriptions.

DJ Hero, Dance Central and Skylanders shouldn't even be close to being on this list. And big LOL at Halo 4 being 28 and Halo 3 being 82. McCaffrey strikes again.

#56 FEZ
#45 Super Meat Boy
#41 Spelunky
#38 Limbo
#30 Braid

These, IMO, are the most important entries in this list.

Two generations ago, I don't think these games would've gotten off the ground.

Obviously missing from the list so far is Minecraft, which will in all likelihood be top 5.

The IGN writing staff from the start of the generation to now is almost completely different. So most of them weren't even there when a lot of these games were reviewed.

Still no MK. Come on IGN.

Also it's funny how OP keeps updating the list but always leaves the "smh at Vanquish being #95" there.

EDIT: Fuck you IGN.

galaxy over galaxy 2 is bizarre.

galaxy being "fresher", since it was the unveiling of the concept and not the refining of it is the only reasoning I can really think of behind it.

If Galaxy 2 was where Galaxy 1 is at, it would make more sense. No Xenoblade or Souls games in the Top 20 is just horrible though.

Probably.

A lot of people won't be happy about a Wii game taking the top spot. I personally didn't love Galaxy either. But I would have been more disappointed if an extremely iterative experience such as GTA5 (which actually bored me to tears) or TLoU (very good game) took the top spot.
