Couple of things I noticed:

9HndDyz.jpg

Advertising for siamese twins, possible visit to circus? Or maybe even the same place as half-breeds, like some sort of "freak show"?

The rook and raven the GT interview was talking about:

Any Londoners wanna give an explanation of what this is? The director said ya'll could relate to it :(.

This makes me think that the rebels are some form of Luddites possibly? I'm not so hot on my European history, but I recall them being anti-industrial revolution, often destroying machinery or factories.

The game tears like crazy in all the footage they've shown. That supposed RAD employee blaming the tearing on the twitch stream was...yeah...

Well, the devs are playing the latest version of the game, and do not control the media PR put out. So if they say the present build is essentially tear free, then that's likely the truth.

Final boss is Jack the Ripper, who's a giant werewolf.
Turns out, the man behind all this was Charles Darwin, on orders from Queen Victoria who wanted an army of Wolf-Men to invade Europe. Charles Dickens narrates the story (voiced by Stephen Fry). At some point, you come across Sherlock Holmes, who for once has no fucking clue what's going on and ends up dying from attempting to sniff thermite while smoking his pipe.

My sources confirm this...

May have already been said, but this reminds me of a current gen Red Dead Redemption. In the best way.

Liking what I saw in the first page or so in this thread, so I'll take some time to hop to GT and some of the other sites to check out the footage.

A new Red Dead in these graphics...I'm not sure my body could take it.

Also quite bright for a winter's day in London, I assume it's winter based on the coats.

The coats in the UK don't come off until April. Unless you're from the Northeast. ;)

The ravens at the Tower of London...

The hit reaction seems a little iffy, but I'm liking what I've seen so far.

TPS-wise, it's unoriginal, but that's not a bad thing. And the weapons and extra mechanics doesn't seem like they're badly implemented, so it definitely makes for a good experience if it's all polished.

Weesuriya was also teasing 'elevation', so sounds like there's ways to take advantage of verticality in gameplay as well.

Is there a old England steampunk infused fps shooter out there I don't know about? And with weapons like the Thermite gun and with a dynamic melee system?

I've heard a few people say it's "unoriginal" or "generic", but it doesn't seem it to me. It seems generic only in the fact that it is yet another fps with cover mechanics, but the actual world, characters, lore, gameplay implementation, weapons etc all seem unique.

It may just be me, but I am really excited by the idea Jack the Ripper is all but confirmed to be a character in this game, as well as other characters of the time period. Half Breeds are going to be awesome, but the lore of this game just got a lot more interesting.

StuBurns--post if you're okay!

Of course. Sony are responsible for the game's marketing, and they can't do their job correctly if the devs are doing whatever they want...
Yeah, but that doesn't seem like anything major to me. Devs should be involved in the marketing process and allowed to make "decisions" like this. Not doing whatever they want, but re-publishing material Sony already released.

Nice....

Anyone know how this could translate in the game?

Well, I'm assuming that the graffiti is done by the rebels. Seems just to be a symbol of oppression. Something for them to rally behind. There is also the obvious interpretation that perhaps the knights are the ravens protecting the "tower" i.e royals?

Random Google search brought up this. Lest we forget. :D

That was my initial thought too, I found the above image because I was looking at the livery on the uniforms looking for anything raveny. Can't see anything bordlike, but there's the Royal Coat of Arms and the Cross of St. George on a shield (which, if I recall correctly, is a Templar symbol).

Interesting how far it's come along.

The Tower of London is famous for its massive ravens. Legend says that if they ever leave the monarchy will collapse or something.
which is why they cut the tips of their wings. Cheeky bastards

edit: beaten like Oliver Twist.

My word, are things so bad on here that anything like that is regarded as being a troll post? I found it looking for something else and thought it was interesting with regards to the thread, I never in any way indicated that it was anything more than that. Good Lord.

EDIT: And aye, I went back and found it again and followed it to the site. Very interesting stuff.

Gameplay wise, nothing they have shown looks interesting. If dude honestly thinks things like slow mo and a flare gun are fresh mechanics, then I really don't know what to say. For some reason though, I feel this game has potential to be really good. I'm glad they are taking the time to make sure it's as good as it can be. I commend Ru for saying that the single player deserves the focus of the entire team. Games where resources are spread thin and time runs out usually leave something to be desired. Cool to hear they have grown to be a pretty big studio of 125!

Those elements are interesting but gameplay is far more important. I don't understand why it's so hard for people to understand why others are disappointed in the gameplay so far. I don't think it will be bad but the hit detection looks spotty and the gameplay is generic. Look at any third person cover game from last gen and tell me it doesn't look like it plays exactly like this. Gears of war was great, mostly because of its multiplayer, but there's only so much you can do with the "stop and pop" gameplay style. The few single player cover oriented games I loved last gen didn't force you to use cover. Instead they focused on your mobility and the thrill of flanking enemies. Uncharted 2 and The Last of Us did this exceptionally well for example.

I don't know what you mean by gameplay implementation, and the weapons may look different but from what we've seen they have a counterpart in almost any other cover shooter. And I'm not going to take the developers word that there's a wide variety in what you do throughout the game until they show it. Any dev could inflate how important secondary game mechanics are no matter how miniscule they end up being. It's not that hard to see why people are being apprehensive concerning the order.

The game looks fantastic.

It's a third person shooter, which is my favorite of the shooter genres, and to be honest, I haven't played so many 3PSes that I feel the genre is woefully over-represented in the industry. I mean, when I think of top Third Person Shooters, I think of Gears of War, Uncharted, and maybe open world games like Red Dead Redemption and GTAV. As such, seeing a third person shooter set in Victorian London, with a supernatural element, creative weapons, and amaze balls graphics, I can't quite see where the "Ho hum, just another TPS!" is coming from.

I'd understand if it was a first person shooter, which the market is bludgeoned with routinely, but a polished looking 3PS that appears to be in the same vein as Gears of War or Uncharted is hardly something to turn my nose up at, especially when it's coming from a talented developer like Ready At Dawn. I sometimes wonder, if this game was being made by Valve, or Bungie, or Infinity Ward/Respawn, would people be as quick to dismiss it.

RaD has the know how, creativity, and backing from Sony to make this game special. The delay at least gives it enough time to iron out whatever kinks it has, but from what I've seen, it looks like an incredibly entertaining third person shooter. Sometimes I feel like most posters have never experienced a console transition. Revolutionary games don't appear out of nowhere. They take time. The Order will not be revolutionary. It will be a fun TPS. That sounds just dandy to me.

I'll be at E3 this year, so I'll get to play it for myself, but I'm already sold on it.
