You can turn the Wii U on and off and navigate the OS (minus eShop) with the Pro Controller, just leave that fucking Gamepad in the cradle until it's time to play Pikmin 3.
At $41 everybody who owns a Wii U should have the Pro Controller, it's awesome.

Whose going to be at the Nintendo World Store tonight getting their copy?
Hmm, interesting. Tesco orders are being dispatched by the main distributor (not sure who handles that nowadays) and I also had a dispatch mail and when I asked for a tracking number they told me that the mail was a mistake and the tracking number would come today and delivery tomorrow.
So that all tallies up. Roll on tomorrow!
It's a little weird because the site itself has changed the dispatch date on my order from the 30th to the 29th (today), but says it will use standard delivery (2-5 working days), not to mention tracking the order through Yodel says it's still awaiting collection.
In any case, I'm more inclined to believe the new email I just received so I can tell myself I'll be playing Mario Kart 8 this weekend.

Da fuq?! Nintendo use Yodel? Geez, they really hate their customers. Tesco have always said 30th on all their emails but I think that's just the outside margin. I got a dispatch mail on the 28th and no actual tracking confirmation yet.
Just checked and it seems Link Distribution are handling the orders. Based in Bradford.
You have to remember the Nintendo UK Online Store is basically The Hut/Zavvi, but they don't always use Yodel - when I ordered the Bravely Default Deluxe Edition, I could track my order through Royal Mail.

The game is tough as nails. Also pretty lool they give you more mushrooms than normal on the new rainbow raod, even in 2nd postion. I got even a golden one in 3rd and a lucky 8 in 4th position in the same race. Just lets say they are not good objects in rainbow road, in fact lucky 8 is the one that fucked me over on that race and made me get 7th (thank god i was first in the rest and I won the cup).

Went to tesco Cumbernauld.
Wandered up to the electrical department desk and enquired if they happened to have mario kart 8 available and in stock.
"I'll just check sir..... Sure thing... We have 8 copies. I will just pop into the back and get one out for you as they don't seem to be on shelves there.
(Outstanding.... I'll get a game or 20 of this tonight is the thought in my head)
A few minutes later he returns.... Game less and with a short lady with a managerial look about her who advises me that the game isn't available till 12am.
Hey ho I'll nip to asda and try my luck in there.
Purposefully I strode up to the Nintendo section.... This is basically 2 shelves with about 4 foot left to right on each shelf with Nintendo gear. Mostly DS stuff..... Except today..... Today there is a wii U game.... Today... In all its glory.... Is Mario Kart 8!
I picked up the box which has a sticker on it telling me I have to collect the game at the desk.
I wait in the queue..... Mulling over which toon I'll have a go off first.... It's me next now.
I handed over the box.... She takes her key out as she turns toward the drawer with Nintendo marked on it.
(Awesome .... It's going to happen.....)
She stops, she turns back toward me.
" I'm sorry son... I've just realised that game isn't available till tomorrow"

My copy has been handed to yodel now for delivery to my office , except I can't get into my office tomorrow because of meetings and it's a half day due to our company awards ceremony so if it appears after 12pm no one will be in to collect it.

Is this standard across all Wal-Marts? If so my day just got a lot better.I was told bythe cashier at Walmart that they usually start selling new releases at 10PM the night before. Which oa mews to me, so some of you may find it useful as well.
Two hours is enough to see most, if not all of the tracks before other people

Hold the phone, doing the 100cc cups without touching the 50cc ones has filled them in on my menu anyway with the same rank as the 100cc cups, so I'm to assume if you want to go for those star ranks in this entry you don't actually have to bother with 50cc if you don't want to? if this is the case that's a neat little touch right there, never did get my alt title screen in MK7 since it was the first game where I skipped 50cc entirely.
Yup. You can skip straight to 150 if you want to.

I wouldn't bet on this. Wal-Mart systems usually have the release date built in them and will prevent them from being scanned til midnight

Thanks, just ordered from Frys! (AND I chose the free shipping, which works out because I still have to beat some WiiU games in my backlog, so by the time it arrives, I'll be done with some other games.)
Never having played Mario Kart online before, is it even possible to be competitive online without using a heavy character? Feels like Morton/Wario/Rosalina will win 9 out of 10 times
Yup. Speed obviously helps, but it won't make a difference if you don't have any good lines. I use Koopa and I have no trouble keeping up with people who use heavy characters.

I'd rather just use the gamepad or a classic controller if absolutely necessary. Pro controller is entirely useless to me.

Just checked my Dell MK8 order and it is saying "shipped" with a 6/3 estimated delivery date...
BUT
FedEx is saying delivery by tomorrow, if they pull through this is gonna be a great freaking weekend!

I tried that earlier today and was turned away. Went to in store pickup and showed them the text saying my order was ready for pickup. They looked everywhere for the game and then spoke with an inventory person who said they can't give me the game until tomorrow.
