Destiny to appear at Sony presser on Monday

Shows a super limited slice of Destiny E3 2013 and after.

"the game looks boring!"

Wants to do a blowout of all the modes and content.

"stop showing this game!"

If the last E3 reveal was just a title announcement or some CG trailer BS, then I'd be all for a gameplay showing this year, but last year's Sony presser already had a lengthy gameplay reveal. I would have preferred that the time was reserved for new stuff.

This should have been done pre-E3.

This was the main game I had in mind in order to justify buying a PS4 around summer, but after the last set of previews... not anymore. Hope they show something truly exciting or at least something that looks fun!

If I needed another reason to skip the conference besides it being at 2am and me having an exam the next day, this was it.

Why all the negative vibes in this thread? Game looks promising, if not derivative. It seems to have a certain Bungie charm to it. I'm personally excited to see/hear more.

Sigh. This is probably one of the titles that I will buy this year, but showing it again instead of exclusive things is boring.

To be expected.
Sony think this might be the next MEGA franchise and they want to associate that franchise with sony

Why don't activision have a separate conference like EA and Ubisoft?

It would probably be a huge waste of money. MS and Sony will be fighting for marketing deals on games like Destiny and COD, the audience for Spyro won't be paying attention to E3 and Blizzard probably want their own time to shine rather than being surrounded by dozens of other big titles.

I was very interested in this at first, but after many showings I still dont have a clear picture in my head about what this game really is, as in what is it's hook etc. Does it have a single player campaign that has a meaningful story and good atmosphere or does it have a more mmo-esque feel to it? Does it have a storyline to follow or more of a quest based progression? They keep talking about how innovative etc. it is, but I'm not seeing it just yet.

I hope that what they'll show at E3 will give me a clear idea about the game. And yes, for the love of god do not show more of the old russia portion of the game.

Because it looks super generic, it looks super safe, and because it honestly feels like Activision bought the hype surrounding the game by throwing giant piles of marketing dollars at it.

That's just what I think anyway.

.

And then the next Ass Creed showing is when I go to piss out the tea I drank earlier.

Lol, pretty much. That AssCreed showing last year... *shudders*. So tough to watch.

Honestly think they are overestimating the importance of that. When you get down to it, the game is still multiplat. Sure all the marketing will give a slight tilt to the PS4 userbase, but look at CoD, a series that is "associated" with the Xbox - it's selling better on PS4. It's not like the "association" is allowing it to sell equal numbers on the xbone and the PS4 despite the PS4's lead in the US.

Really hope they show something that blows me away because my hype for this game has died quite dramatically after the initial announcement.

Or give us the beta soon.

Seems to be a lot of hate in this thread but Destiny is the only game my casual gaming friends are talking about right now, most are picking up PS4s for it.

Don't underestimate the power of 3rd parties to push next-gen console sales, most of the big games that people really want to play are third party.

I imagine they'll be showing off a multiplayer match or at the very least a trailer with a beta date on it. That's not gonna take that long.

Hopefully that's all it is, I don't want to see the same shitty linear dungeon again for the 5th time.

I hope it takes up a full half hour just to hear GAF whine some more. Game looks amazing

That would be a hilarious sight to see.

"Fucking Destiny! Fuck off!''

"I don't care about your shitty game, Bungie."

"I want exclusives, not shitty 3rd party games, Sony!''

Nah, nah, I'm just joking around. Really, I'm just hyped for more Destiny, you know. :)

I'm interested in seeing something completely different to the other demos. If it's virtually the same as the others, what's the bloody point? That said, I really hope Sony don't spend that much time on third-party stuff.

If it were anybody but ubisoft I'd agree with you. But Ubi? They can't push shit.

They just sold 4 million copies of Watch Dogs in 1 week even after a lengthy delay. PS4 was by far the biggest benefactor of the game.

I expect a lengthy thing on Destiny. Its one of the biggest games this fall and Sony would be smart to let them align themselves with the brand as strongly as possible.

Witcher 3 looks amazing, Forza Horizon 2 looks amazing, Driveclub looks amazing, Sunset Overdrive looks amazing. Destiny looks good. And I say that as someone who considers this game to be the one that will make me buy a PS4.

Destiny looks far more amazing to me than all those games. Guess its lucky about games being subjective

People who are bitching about Desinty are not so much bitching at the game but the marketing teams idea of hype. They announced it far too early and have been shpowing 2-3 screen shots every few months and dumb ass snippets spread between and then they show long vids at E3 people don't want that. If you want to do that do it when you have 6 months til launch. People wanna play the game not just look at it.

I give zero fucks about this game at the moment... That could all change once we see some competitive MP.
Hopefully they can at least make the online MP look exciting and interesting.

Well, I think Driveclub and Witcher 3 look amazing, but that doesn't mean I shouldn't have the right to not be excited for Destiny.

It is, after all, my most anticipated 2014 game. :)

Serious question: what exactly about what you've seen of Destiny so far makes it more "amazing" than say The Witcher 3?

Note that I'm asking what you've "seen", not what you've "read" or "heard".

This really needs to be a good showing.

I'm buying it anyway, because I love Bungie, but every showing so far has been so fucking boring, I can't imagine the PS only people could possibly care about it.

Yeah, lucky that is subjective.

Back on topic, I hope they show more about what the game really is. Can't shake the feeling of it being only a serious Borderlands with better online connectivity.

How come people love the witcher 3 then?

Don't consider GAF as a hivemind it will get you nowhere

The witcher 3 is an exception to the rule because it's a huge game on PC.
Same thing with the Dark Souls series.
A simple comparison of the Dark Souls and Project Beast thread is enough to see that fanboys only care about exclusives.

I don't consider gaf a hivemind. I considers fanboys to be all the same.

Show the open world aspects properly or GTFO.

This. People act like we've seen a lot of this game... We've seen Old Russia and that's it.
There's so much more to be shown.

I've already seen a "guided tour" of the game, Destiny had a spot last year. There's only so much time during a press conference. Doesn't mean I don't like the game itself, it just feels like wasted time though. The conferences should be exciting, not...seasoned.

COD is associate more with the xbox 360 than "xbox". COD sells more on the 360 than on any other system because of Xbox huge lead in the US and UK were COD is the most popular. I'm assuming COD moved a few million xbox 360 units into consumer homes. Sony is expecting Destiny will have a similar affect by having destiny be associated with PlayStation
