Destiny to appear at Sony presser on Monday

So should we listen that guy or the five friends on my friends list whom I trust that loved the friends and family beta?

I'm not the one attacking people for expressing their own opinions. That's you. I'll trust what I hear and see. Your friends aren't mine. How would I know what they said? Rather than attempting to create this myth that anyone underwhelmed by Destiny so far is doing so for nefarious reasons, perhaps try to understand that some of us are in fact legitimately underwhelmed. I'm not one of the people saying "Don't show it anymore". I'm one of the people saying, "Show me something new."

And for what it's worth, when I click on Destiny in the PS4 store, I see a countdown clock. Why? Because I pre-ordered it. I have faith in Bungie. They just haven't impressed me in the slightest yet.

As hopeful as I am that this game turns out fantastic, I hope that this demo doesn't eat up much time. Same goes for any Ubi/EA games. I would love to see first party stuff as that's what is going to really push the hardware, and the reason despite being primarily a PC gamer, that I still buy Sony's hardware.

Why would anything sell better on the bone? Even COD sells better on the PS4.

I think he meant current and last gen. Also, I think CoD stills sells the best on 360, but PS4 is the next best selling based off the last few NPD reports.

Read back at my posts because I only attacked the Indies are stupid guy. Have whatever opinion you like. But make it an informed one. Plenty in here are not and that's squarely on Bungie's shoulders. Not sure why you think you should come for me, but I'm not the one.

Better show some good multiplayer, it's they only way they will impress anyone. and that's only if the multiplayer isn't shit.

The PS4 version will do damn well, especially since Bungie are pushing that version as the one to get. I think Destiny could have a bigger impact on the Xbox One, just because of the Bungie fanbase built around Halo. Having Destiny and Halo on the same machine is pretty damn tempting.

However it falls, I hope the game does well because it sounds like the kind of game I want to play for ages, if they can get the content right.

Expected. Also AssCreed and Warner will most likely be at Sony presser. That's at least 20 minutes that I'll be bored with. Warner I like so that should be interesting.

Sony wants this game to be a console exclusive so bad. Excited to see this at the press conference.

This. They need to back that truck up, dump out the $$$ and make this game a 1 year exclusive title.

I say that because we've heard nothing about a replacement for the Resistance franchise. You know, the fps franchise that's better (not graphically) than the Killzone franchise.

True. Which is why Sony made such a huge emphasis on indies last year. They knew these games would be important to fill in the gaps of the fewer "bigger" games

What I'm waiting for is when will the big 3rd party developers finally create their own indie product lines? Similar to mega movie companies that have their independent/art offshoot studios?

It seems like they're just leaving a market up for grabs for no real reason. Ubisoft's Child of Light seems like a good start, but EA, Capcom, Activision, etc need to start carving out small teams to work on creative digital download games that not only can keep talented developers inhouse, use those games as experimental concepts that could be into the bigger games once proven, but also greatly diversify and derisk your mega game lineups.

What more can they show you to change your mind? Do you want to see more of the open world? More of the story? Legit question. I feel like they have shown enough to give you a pretty good idea of Destiny is without showing a full on "lets play" Destiny walkthrough. What could they show you at E3 that they have not already that would justify your pre order? Why would you pre order a game you find unimpressive and underwhelming?

I really dont get all the hate against Destiny. Well, I guess Im not so interested on understanding that feeling either, since im pretty excited for it!

Well, my expectations are simple though: a good shooter a la Borderlands but with a more serious approach and better customization. And it seems the game will have this and much more already.

IDK man, an open world, mmo-esque RPG doesn't exactly scream "remaining 360 crowd" to me. Maybe I'm wrong though.

Show me what single player looks like. Show me how fireteams are created and how they can group up with other fireteams to take on bosses. Show me what the overworld looks like where you meet other players. Tell me about the mechanics of grouping up. Are there clans? How do they work? How are they managed? Show me PVP. You think they've shown you enough. That's cool. My opinion is they've shown nothing but snippets of gameplay here and there and none of it is special. What can make it special is putting it all into context so that I know what the game actually is. As for why I'd pre-order it - Bungie. It also netted me an invitation to the beta.

All fair points. I hope you get what you want from them at E3. :)

edit: They have talked about some of the things you mention but have yet to show them.

Thread title misses "SHOCKING NEWS".
Anyway i hope this time they go with something more exciting, like a bad ass giant boss or pvp.

Gotta say that you pretty much nailed it. They haven't really shown THAT much and many of the details are still unclear.

My hope is that we get these Monday but that Sony doesn't spend 10% of their conference on this game. I already know I'm getting it and the demo they showed last year gave me a good idea of how the the coop / multiplayer works.

Me too! I probably won't get what I really want though. What I want is for them to show all the cool stuff, and then for Sony to end the conference by saying, "And now go download the beta, which starts exclusively on PS4....right now." Drop the mic. Walk off.

Fucking awesome, though obviously expected. Not even remotely a waste of time. Can't wait to see more of this :D

It's a co-marketing agreement. That Sony is paying for. If Activision didn't market only the PS4 version, they'd be violating that agreement :p

I don't think there's a much hating as there is just general apathy and confusion. Destiny seems to be a really ambitious game, but not necessarily in the actual gameplay. The actual ambitious stuff is in the way the game is structured, but all Bungie continues to show is a coop Borderlands shooter.

I do think Destiny could be a really special game, but Bungie needs to get way better at showing us why instead of just talking about these vague, overarching ideals.

This was pretty much a given. Pumped to see it.

Hoping its a "Destiny Beta available right now! Only on PS4!" Drop the mic and walk out moment.

I don't know why people are so down on it?
It's like Borderlands meet Diablo meets Bungie
What more do you need? It tells you everything you need to know

-exploration
-loot
-open world
-competitive mp
-pvp areas
-world events

Nothing for nothing, this is one game I wouldn't mind doing the monthly fee for to ensure its survival.

I want that soooooo badddddd. It sounds like its not gonna be until July though :(

That's why I am hoping for July for all other systems, and June for the PS4 beta, since we already know it is coming to PS4 first.

Most betas don't run very long, but Bungie has said this beta will be treated like a full product launch, and will have a good sized chunk of content, since they cant just throw in 3 maps and some modes like they did with Halo games.

Probably won't happen, but I can dream.

I can't speak for everyone but I know some along with myself have concerns on the scope after recent talk of it being the same game on all systems since it's cross platform making ps360 the lowest denominator.

I'm hoping for that as well....which is why I preordered this morning just in case.

They need to show what the city/hub looks like. Everything they've shown so far just looks like Borderlands with better graphics. The Division, while 'Ubi trickery', showed a lot more promise with their gameplay because it gave you an idea of the huge world you were in. Everything they've shown of Destiny just looks like 'linear dungeon, linear dungeon, linear dungeon.'

I still can't decide if I should be hyped for this game. They have shown a lot, but have yet to really show anything. I pre-ordered just to get the demo since that seems like the only way to really get a feel for it. Their PR cycle has been so lackluster.

the problem is... how do they show it? They need to show how the loot and progression works, they need to give details about the world and story, and they can't just show off something like quests from wow because then people would go to the opposite side of the spectrum and just call it an mmo grind fest.
