Lol, shots fired

lol @ needing 4 months to play fucking Watch_Dogs. The king has returned to show all these other open-world plebeians how its done.

I still remember the launch of GTA 4 on the PC like it was yesterday. The first people to get the game posted screenshots which were basically Niko standing in a blank city because textures wouldn't load in. They were the lucky ones, others just got a "code 10" message.

Then people started to notice that things such as the ticker tape animations around star junction were not working. Then it was realised that Rockstar forgot to put the moon into the PC version. I think the shadow system on the PC was changed at least twice to try and improve things. Then there was the 2 week period when no one could play GTA 4 because of a games for windows live update. Then the second patch improved performance but it didn't take long for people to notice a crap load of street assets had been "accidentally" removed (no hot dog stands).

Ah fun times were had by all. At this point whilst I can understand people being happy about GTA 5 coming to the PC I would approach it with some in trepidation. Yes Max Payne 3 was well done technically but Max Payne 3 was not an open world game. Still we shall see what we shall see. I am expecting a cluster fuck of a launch (just look at the 360/PS3 version).

I don't even care if I had SLI Titans, I'm buying GTA V on PS4, no matter what.

Didn't R* say time and time again that this wouldn't be released on the PS4 or Xbox1? I'm sure that this was in the plans all along, too.

No, they always kept the option available. Especially with GTA Online since announcing it they said they were focusing on 360/PS3, but weren't blind that a new generation was coming in.

I hope the wanted system falls under "game world enhancements" for these new versions. The one thing I despised about playing this was almost every single crime that wasn't dangerous driving had the cops on to you instantly, not to mention how relentless they were in vehicles.

I'll probably double dip with the PS4 and PC versions. Loved playing it on the 360 and I can't wait to see a better looking Los Santos!

Somebody mentioned earlier in the thread that, as with DX10 before it, he's not going to be bringing ENB to DX11. Although the game has PS360 roots, given the PC is a "next-gen" port I suspect it won't support DX9. Maybe he'll change his mind if enough people prod him, though.
:(

But i'll take Dx11 over ENB, i guess.
As incredible as that PC image is...how well does that sucker run and how much time/trouble would it take to get all that shit installed and working properly?

I just don't have the know-how or patience for PC gaming (though I wish I did). Plug and play all day for this guy.
Runs perfectly fine, i played the whole game like that, start to finish, with a 580.

I must be the only one not impressed with ENB or the other graphical mods. GTA IV still looks GTA IV. These pics look beautiful, but once you play the game, it still is the same GTA IV, boring, prettier and runs shit on even a high end system. A golden bit does not make the horse any better.

That said, I'm looking forward for GTA V ENB in 5 years when a high end system can run it.
ENB is a graphical mod, i have no idea how the fact that the game remains "boring" has anything to do with it being impressive, to be honest.

haven't really dug into this next-gen remaster (focused on other E3 stuff), so apologies if this has been hashed out, but has resolution/framerate for the PS4 version been pinned down?

edit: thanks Albatross

As I excited as I was to see the trailer, I thought about it rationally and can only see myself going back for a couple of hours or so.
Yeah it looks cool, probably, but I don't think it warrants full retail price for me.

Yep, I guess I am triple dipping. I almost finished it on 360 and then I did finish it on the ps3. Can't wait to do it all again on the ps4!!

It would be pretty sad if they can't get it to 1080p and a consistent 30fps on both systems.

I personally think the balance was perfect and the best thing is that the cops were actually chasing other NPC's around as well. The thing is even if you got cops on you. if you were a good enough driver you could get out the search area well before the first response car even got to an area. Or just hide in plain sight until the cops give up. The actual cop A.I in this game is fair.

For those interested in mods some inside info - A high level script compiler for GTA V (see scocl) is in the works and is nearly complete.

As long as it doesn't infect GTAO like the other moddings have cool. The console modded cheater fucks have pretty much ruined public online.

I didn't get to play this on last gen. I'll grab this gen. You guys that have played last gen, can you see any significant graphic updates besides resolution?

Lighting, better draw distances, A LOT more peds/vehicles on screen, the world actually has more plant life again (had it in the early trailers/pictures but most of it got stripped away) just from what we saw it looks a lot better.

Not that great of comparisons but there's a few here: http://www.independent.co.uk/life-s...mparisons-are-pretty-mindblowing-9522803.html

Just... please fix the car duplicates bug in later game. You've got plenty of memory to play with now. No point in me buying the stupid expensive car when everyone has it in single player.

Any word if they're going to make money a little easier to generate this time around? If you don't do those Lester things right, you'll never have a stupid amount of money to play with.

Given how it appears that games like Destiny and Battlefield are going, I wouldnt be surprised to see GTA running on both at 1080p and 30 fps. I just hope its a consistent 30 FPS ala Watch Dogs. Driving through the city during the day time on the 360 version produces a framerate of about 20. Makes it really hard to drive.

That is a fucking nightmare. People lose their minds on Steam forums if ports don't conform to their definition of perfection. I despise reading Steam forums the majority of time.

'Game only has FXAA and SLI isn't working day one!?!????!??!??! * vulgar remarks and mild racism removed*'

I don't even care if I had SLI Titans, I'm buying GTA V on PS4, no matter what.

Rockstar's last port in Max Payne 3 was excellent. I would imagine they will have a different outlook on the PC platform since GTAIV.

GTAIV is at 3 million sales on Steam alone despite being one of the worst ports of all time, attached to one of the worst DRM systems of all time, with a absurd amount of DRM piled on top of that laundry list of issues.

GTAIV and RDR came at a point in Rockstar's history where you can tell they were very dedicated to the consoles and despised PC gaming. I generally believe that those particular examples are borderline irrelevant going forward.

It remains a boring game no matter how many mods you throw at it. Other than that, I'm not impressed with the visuals of the graphics mod either. I have it installed. When you're just playing the game like you're supposed to instead of recording it in a cinematic way to show off, it is not impressive. Coming from vanilla, it still looks the same game with a different skin, brighter, more contrast and colorful. Also very poor performance on high end systems. I was more impressed with the PS3 version of GTA V being able to output those graphics than my icenhanced IV.

GTA4 was amazing in its own right. Haters gonna hate!

Also people can whine as much as they want about the GTA4 PC port, I am giving Rockstar the benefit of the doubt for V.

A) Is that real?

B) It is more of a compliment. Four months spent on Watch_Dogs is good value for money.

I think it was something made on Reddit. I doubt they would use some screenshots taken from a video and not straight screen captures of the game.

I think it's too much. Silenced weapons for example were pointless outside of missions because no matter where you were on the map, whether there witnesses or not, the police would always find you. It wasn't fun being chased non-stop when you're just trying to free roam.

Watch_Dogs, I gave up on second mission.

Could not shake off the cops when stealing a car.

I finished GTA5 on both the ps3 and360. I will get it on PS4 and PC.

I hope it's not just a graphics/resolution improvement and that they add shit to do..

In single player mode..

Like.. Police missions.. It would be awesome taking sides.. Either help the criminals and evade stars to get a money bonus and some side mission fun.. Or help the cops take down the criminals and get no stars.. And maybe a no wanted phone call to Lester or whatever

Ambulance missions, dragging bleeding bodies to the ambulance or performing CPR, similar to the yoga controls or something.. Then driving them to the hospital.. And maybe throw in a twist sometimes, have rival gang members coming after the ambulance to finish the job.. And you have to stop them and save the guy for a boost or bonus of some sort.

Mini games.. Now with current gen, you should be able to play with Michael's sons fake xbox system..
Fill up those empty basketball courts.. And let us play, even if it's a simple game of H.O.R.S.E
Add access to the outdoor and indoor gyms(if any) so we could add "strength" or "speed"..
Cockpit view is a must, and it was hinted in the trailer.. So I'm hoping they implement that.
Add more access to indoor places
Add gas so we'd have to fill up our cars when running low.. Okay that last one's a little ambitious but you get where I'm going.. Don't just make this a simple money grabbing port.

We will buy your shit regardless, just add more than just beauty and foliage, which we appreciate.

Now, someone send this to take two or rockstar lol

Well, you are the target market for modern AAA gaming.
You make it obvious on a daily basis that you hate modern, AAA games, but there are a lot of us that genuinely do enjoy it and we're not all idiotic, brain-dead sheep. I'm into some very technical, hardcore games and I can also enjoy games that require less challenge/skill and are about having some fun as well, like Tomb Raider, which I just finished and had a great time with.

Anyways, I'm not quite as optimistic over the 'optimization' of GTAV. People like to point to Max Payne 3 and use it as evidence things will be alright, but Max Payne was a last-generation game and was on a far, far smaller scale than GTAV. Now, if the PC version was just a port of the 360/PS3 games, I wouldn't have any concerns, but it seems they've done considerable work to up the ante for XB1/PS4. Things like the denser traffic, pedestrians and increased draw distance are bound to be far more CPU-demanding. And then the highly improved textures, assets and increasing foliage will of course be more GPU demanding. Question is - how did they accomplish these things? If they took advantage of the full cores and hyperthreading as Watchdogs did, we could be looking at a similar situation. And ditto with the unified memory - very good chance that the textures and draw distance and whatnot are going to be heavily influenced by a person's vRAM.

We'll see.

Silencer and melee weapons always gives you 1/2 stars even if there isn't anyone else around you :/

It will be a bit of a shame if this isn't 1080p/60fps on next gen, i mean i thought that would of kind of been the whole point about doing a next gen version, kind of like with the Halo's and TLOU.
I remember the discussions about this on here last year and it seemed that the main reason people wanted a next gen version was so w could play it at 1080p/60fps which obviously the last gen machines couldn't hit.

Please be an optimised PC port Rockstar.

Most of us are hoping it decent in light of watchdogs and to a degree that basically since 3 a majority of them have been badly optimized vs decent or good.

Rockstar might give a crap but I care more about the modding and bugs in the game than performance which tends to be ironed out in patches or better hardware down the line.
