True. Both pay 60$ for the same game but one of them has an extra - basically the other one is paying less for the same ammount of money. This is not 4ThePlayers, this is a big "screw you if you don't have our console".This is terrible. Just as it was with all other 'exclusive content deals' that had existed throughout the generation. CoD, AC,WD, BF...
This is arguably the worst thing that competition has brought to the market, imo. ( paid online was bad, but imo, it led to PS+ and GwG and overall improved online, so there was some silver lining )
The broadening scope of 'exclusive content' is permuting all aspects of too many 3rd-party games. And the ironic thing is that it's arguably 'proven' to work, which is why publishers and platform holders are doubling down on securing exclusive 'content.'
Another problem is the transparency behind all these things. To me, stuff like Diablo 3 exclusive Playstation content doesn't bother me, because those things are clearly permanent exclusives content that were created because Sony paid for them to exist like TLoU clickers dungeon, etc. Stuff like Grim Fandango as well, as it's a console exclusive because Sony actively approached and made the deal happen as the liaison and partner between Disney, etc.
But then we have 60 minutes 'exclusive content' on Playstation for AC/WD. Or timed exclusives content that are clearly more of an 'yo, I'm excluding you all from this content for X amount of time, suckers!"
What?Well it's not as bad as Microsoft going around giving money to developers to change the lead platform like with The Division. Fuck that :/.
I'm unlikely to get Destiny either, but this is just the last straw. My main issue with Destiny is, both as a Halo fan and as an FPS fan in general, I just don't think it looks particularly interesting. While there have been many positive impressions coming from the alpha, I often disagree with others' opinions (it's also worth noting that, with the alpha being exclusive to PS4, many of those impressions are coming from people who have never spent any significant amount of time playing Halo), and there's no way for me to check first hand unless I preorder (as someone with serious doubts, why would I?) or I get lucky with a beta code.
And then there's the Master Chief collection, which I know I'll be spending a lot of time with later this year. One would think that they'd be throwing all they've got into combating that, but no.
As a long time fan, I used to worry about Bungie getting themselves into a potentially dangerous position with Destiny - first with it being such a huge project, and such a long-lasting commitment to Activision, of all publishers; and then with it being so closely tied to a single platform holder - but the further this exclusive charade gets, the less I care. If Destiny fails to meet Bungie's and Activision's expectations, they have nobody but themselves to blame.
That said, I'd love to be proven wrong and swayed into supporting - and enjoying - Destiny.

Is this a thing? Does that mean PS4 version will be scaled down for parity reasons??
There has also been talks of Massive shifting focus from the PlayStation 4 to Xbox One after pressure from Microsoft, something that our source denies.
"That's not correct. PlayStation 4 is the more powerful hardware and we feel it is easier to develop for. Snowdrop works better on PS4 and even if Microsoft do want us to shift lead platform that's not something that has happened."
Why would MS do that? Makes no sense spending money like that.Well no, they don't want to 'do a battlefield'.
http://www.gamereactor.eu/news/123004/Massive+don't+want+to+"do+a+Battlefield+4"+with+The+Division/
So you're always going to buy the one that didn't get the exclusive DLC? The Division, Evolve, COD, etc on PS4 as an example?
Then what point are you trying to make? I understand you think timed DLC is bad, but only doing this for one game doesn't make much sense, if you turn around and do the exact opposite later. Unless you're willing to go the extra mile to back up your words, don't bother.
Or just buy a Wii U
How does the timeline for Titanfall go? I thought it was coming later to PS4 and there were rumors and Respawn wouldn't deny it, but then later if was changed to a ''life of title exclusive'' is that when it was in danger of being cancelled?

(I'm talking about MS and Sony)
I'll most likely have a PS4 by the time Destiny comes out. Although, I think I'm still going to buy it for the XB1. I don't support these marketing strategies, and I'll show that with my wallet.
Why would MS do that? Makes no sense spending money like that.
EDIT: It didn't happen. So PS4 is still the lead platform.

Knoxcore, they wanted it, but Massive said fuck that. THANK GOD. But it's obvious they are going around third parties wanting lead development to be shifted to Xbox One to make sure that version looks just as good as the PS4 version.
Yikes, that's a lot of concern. If only the marketing deal was with XBox.

And that's what bothers me. This Destiny exclusive content is not really that important to me but I do hate those "1 hour exclusive" Sony has been doing or those Timed Exclusive games MS does. The frustrating thing is that if I'm in either company's shoes... why wouldn't I do it? The competitor is doing it, it's proven effective, it creates no real backlash from your own community of gamers, ( otoh, it clearly rustle the jimmies of competitor's community ), and it's presumably relatively cheap.
The moment that the business/marketing model was proven to work and sustainable, it was a downward spiral to hell.
True.Sure but who is to say that another developer won't do it either? I feel like this is a pretty shitty thing to ask of a developer.
I doubt performance would be an issue but I agree on the graphics side.I guess this could have an impact on graphics and performance compared to the Ps4 version.
Obviously that means he'll show it with his wallet by buying those titles on PS4 instead, right?
Knoxcore, they wanted it, but Massive said fuck that. THANK GOD. But it's obvious they are going around third parties wanting lead development to be shifted to Xbox One to make sure that version looks just as good as the PS4 version.
No, it means he is joining the PC master race where there are no platform holders to give money to publishers to produce exclusive DLC.
Sooooo... buying the pc version of a game with exclusive content on a specific console isn't supporting the publisher who made the exclusivity deal?
Uh huh. Gotcha.

You'll note that nowhere in my post did I state he was going to buy the game on PC.
I'm not going to say I've never ever bought a timed exclusive, but I will say that I go out of my way to avoid them. I'll buy Evolve on PC. I wont' get COD, and probably won't get The Division.
The article itself states that they have not done what you suggest, how are you claiming they are going around to developers giving money to change focus?

As someone that worked in large-scale software development where we had lead targets and it was never the platform that was the easiest. It was always the hardest platform.
As someone that worked in large-scale software development where we had lead targets and it was never the platform that was the easiest. It was always the hardest platform. That said I think it is mind-boggling whenever the PC isn't the lead platform. Seems like the easiest place to port from when it comes to the ps4 and one.
You misunderstood me or I wasn't clear enough. The platform that lead development was the one that was the hardest, because that's where the focus is on to overcome all the technological challenges. Not that PC is the hardest to develop for.OK, now I'm curious. Even if PC isn't a playable platform at all, what makes it so difficult to develop for?
So you're not supporting the platform holder but you're supporting the publisher. I don't get it. Who are you for or against? If you're against this deal as much as you say, don't buy the game at all.

Pretty much this.
These deals happen also because the publishers feel that they can 'sell-out' parts of their game for the highest bidder. Nvidia, AMD, Playstation and Xbox are all guilty of throwing their hat into the ring to bid for these scraps.
Don't support the game at all if these marketing deals bother you. I for one,am a vocal opponent against specific kinds of 'co-marketing', but at the same time, I'm not going to let that fact make me choose bad decisions in my gaming experience. Otherwise, I'd pretty much stop enjoying games for good.

Not sure what all the bitching is about. This is just the lastest verse in a long-running song. Until we reach the One Console Future, these things will happen.
And besides, I'm not sure I believe the Amazon listing anyway. Let's wait for confirmation.

They pressured Massive to shift development to Xbox One. Massive refused.
Who is to say other developers also refused?
So why even make the first post, trying to create unnecessary drama that Microsoft did that when they didn't?
First post reads as they did, second says they wanted to but couldn't.
Says who? you?
The article does not show any sign of Microsoft doing what you stated, so where are you getting your information from then?
I'm just saying that Microsoft is going around pubs asking to have their game be lead dev on Xbox One. I don't doubt for a second that Massive is the only dev they asked.
They couldn't in the case of The Division, but they did attempt it. Which is contemptible in my eyes.
