Mighty No. 9 Animated Series Announced

Seems really odd to already plan an animated series when they have no idea if the characters (Presumably the other Mighty No.'s) will be well received. I mean, right now could you list 5 characters and their personalities? Who knows, I'll approach this with caution.

Oh well, at least it is not "anime", but a 3D animated series instead.

It's created and managed by a Japanese Animation studio....so it's Anime.

Anime comes in shapes and sizes. Doesn't have to be the stereotypical otaku stuff to count as Anime.

Other Anime by Digital Frontier:

2004 - Appleseed
2006 - Forest of Cats- Atagoal
2007 - Appleseed Ex Machina
2008 - Resident Evil: Degeneration
2009 - Summer Wars
2011 - Tekken: Blood Vengeance
2012 - Ookami kodomo no Ame to Yuki (The Wolf Children)
2012 - Resident Evil: Damnation

Because Mr. Inafune is a businessman--

This feels like a reference to something I'm familiar with...

Seen a ton of fanart for this one. Not surprised, she's easily the best design alongside the sniper.

A lot of these are "CGI assistance" jobs outside of like... Appleseed. They also helped out with ZOIDS and ZOIDS/Zero.

And it's a TV anime for sure... wonder what kind of time slot it will get.

There needs to be an episode with ancient Lion men transforming the cast into other Lion men through eye beams. Or at least have him add "Beck" to random words.

Hey if you are going to emulate Mega Man making an animated show that would probably only appeal to children is pretty in line. If it's a comedy i'm guessing they are going for the young boy demographic that Adventure Time and the like appeal to.

If Capcom decides to do sue them they might have a case been alot of speculation about it but Capcom has not done anything yet.

Capcom really has zero grounds to sue them. Making a game that's kind of similar doesn't infringe on their rights.

If this was something they could do successfully they would have done it with the vast majority of 2d fighting games back in the 90s. I know with Fighter's History they actually attempted this and it failed.

are todays kids gonna be into Mighty No. 9 as a game though? It doesn't seem like the kind of thing kid gamers are into in 2014 and seems more squarely aimed at nostalgic older gamers.

The awesome men and women at Digital Frontier put this teaser together (and on their own dime!) to show the world how amazing a Mighty No. 9 animated series could be. We’re grateful to have their passion and skill on our side, and we can’t wait to see how this project unfolds!

Seems like the teaser may not exactly reflect the final product...? D: Though CGI is probably 100% certain.

i backed the initial kickstarter and i am super looking forward to this game but the main character suffers from the green eyed sonic syndrome imo.

They weren't the main studios in Summer Wars and Wolf Children, just provided assistance.
I'm guessing it was CG.

Dunno about the others.

Does anyone else have this weird feeling that something bad is going to happen to the game and show... I'm not liking this...

where did he get the funding for this?

I hate comments like this. Without even knowing what you're talking about you're already accusing them of misappropriation.

They have nothing to do with the funding of the animation. Often it's the other way around. If a network or animation company likes a thing in japan they create an animation of it. Plain and simple.

Lest you think that a 20 year old manga artist (for example) funds the anime based on their property all by themselves....

The CG itself looks fine, but the animation isn't lively enough to match the VO. Certainly passable, though, and if this really is a pitch, I hope it'll improve.
