This is incredible... I would have half-expected Lara Croft or something, but a freaking RAYMAN trophy? Heads are asploding to the tune of Bohemian Rhapsody, I tells ya what.

That's indeed quite odd. Rayman is pretty much the Ubisoft mascot, as well as the character that would have fit in the nicest with the Smash Bros roster. Adding him out of the blue, but as a Trophy seems odd and would needlessly complicate the licensing of this game. If they're going to add an Ubisoft trophy, I'm expecting an Ubisoft playable character. If Rayman is out, my next best guess would be those Rabbids. Going to turn down the volume of my sound for the next reveal trailer just to be safe. Those things are not safe for ears.

Wasn't any different a situation when there were no Metal Gear Solid games on the Wii yet Snake got into Brawl (plus a ton of MGS2/3/4/Peace Walker stuff)!

All of the companies with third party characters currently in the game have a good relationship with Nintendo. I doubt Snake will get included when Konami hasn't released a single game for Wii U game and Smash needs to be out pronto.

GUYS. I LOVE RAYMAN.

I was seriously hoping he would be a playable character since Rayman Legends was announced as a Wii U exclusive! But I lost all hope when it went multiplatform and delayed for seven months.

I DON'T EVEN CARE IF HE IS A PLAYABLE CHARACTER OR NOT (well I kinda do). THIS IS AWESOME. THANK YOU BLESSED SAKURAI. I LOVE YOU.

Now where is my next Rayman game, Ubisoft? : )

Rayman is absolutely one of the most logical representatives, I was more referring to the fact that everyone assumed that there would be no more third-party representation of any kind. ANY character seems a bit random when plucked from the hundreds of notable gaming icons.
