I'm curious on how all this will turn out. The cartoon could be decent and the game actually has a chance, since it's not being handled by the usual Sonic team. We shall see.

The E3 impressions were unanimously bad.
The cartoon actually seems like it'll be funny, I can see it having a small cult following honestly around the net regardless of the game.

There was also at least 1 manga series. Fun fact: Amy & Charmy actually originated from the manga. Yep, out of all the comic-only & anime-only characters the franchise has had those were the only 2 to have actually made the jump to the gamesverse.

The game hasn't been received well since the beginning and I have my doubts that either version will fare well.
The cartoon series seems like it'll be better and personally I am more interested in that than I am the games.

As extras in a cartoon show they're fine. I'd rather Sonic and his crew hang out with cartoon animals than human people all the time. I'm not sure how they'll appear in the game but as throwaway villagers, farmers and stuff they're perfectly reasonable. It's quite apparent that this offshoot of the series isn't for the "hardcore" fans. I just hope that the Sonic Team are able to stick much more to tradition.

Why are some characters fully clothed, while some characters like Sonic don't wear clothes at all? THis world makes no sense.
But the new characters are about on par with these ones:
Pretty much the modern day equivelents.
People wanted only Sonic to be playable, which is exactly what they did with the past three games. (Sonic Colours, Generations and Lost World respectively) This is supposed to be a spin-off franchise.

People only used the cycle to begin with to bash the series. Once good games started coming out, they did their best to move the goal posts.
What's REALLY weird to me is that people see these characters - especially the female one - and go "welp time for rule 34 lol." I look at them and see some standard NPCs or cartoon extras.

I like the designs, but I'll probably hate what they are going to end up doing with them. As long as they don't shove them into everything and make them annoying then it will be fine.
Like, I think they would fit in really well as background characters. Like with unleashed, replace the humans with those.

None of the designs look terrible to be honest. Don't like how the gameplay looks but at least the character designs aren't Silverbad
So...what exactly is the problem with humans? I always thought the issue was them being too realistic looking to the anthro characters, which I thought unleashed did a good job of rectifying.
Sega made Sonic Colours and no one gave a shit about.

I actually like some of those designs. Some have a Disney-esque flair to them. Also, the majority of them seem to not be banking on the "Look at how phat and hip we can be!" 90s Extremism that turned me off of the character designs from Adventures and onward(not that there wasn't that prior, but it just go out of control afterwards). Besides, I like Sonic's world to be represented as one where anthropomorphic animals dwell, most definitely NOT a world like in Unleashed or Sonic 06(with lots of humans around). Eggman's the exception, of course. The ONLY exception!!

Not really any reason. It's just my preference not to mix them. Or it they do, make it a better ratio. It feels really out of place to just have a couple of animal characters among endless human ones.
As long as everything is stylized, then I don't have that much of a problem. Unleashed was 1000 times more fitting than 06.

I still don't understand why the one female is completely "exposed" while the other has metal pants and a leotard.

Sonic colors is like the highest selling sonic in the past 10 years, also probably the most critically acclaimed aswell, strangely however generations gets all the talk despite colors selling better than it on all 3 platforms combined.

At least they aren't bothering with the Sonic cycle this time, and they're just skipping to the suck.
The highest selling sonic game of the last ten years is Sonic & Mario at the Olympic games, and the one with the highest critical acclaim is Sonic & All-stars racing transformed. And we also don't have any figures past 2012 about how well the PC Version of Generations sold.
