Kind of a lot, I know. Haha.

I think the DS Lite was amazing. That thing was sleek, solidly built, and had an Apple-like quality about it. (Disclaimer; I'm no Apple fanboy, in fact I hate them, but I can appreciate their solid build quality)

I think most Nintendo consoles/handhelds have had pretty pleasing designs but this might be my favorite:

snc10411.jpg

Game Boy Pocket with the original Game Boy's color scheme!

It has the all the charm of the original Game Boy with a superior screen and more portability.
I was so happy when I found one of my own in Japan years ago. :)

Dreamcast is a timeless design, it's slighty curved, matte white and has a beautiful glowing orange triangle right where the top lid shuts down, beautiful.

BEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP

I'd Have to say the OG PS3 was pretty nice looking
and The dreamcast looked pretty cool as well.

After going through this thread, i must get my hands on a Vita.

Whoa, did they sell this, or is this someone's custom paint job?

I wish game systems were still designed to look like the embodiment of pure joy. I don't care if it looks like a toy.

I buy the most wild and interesting colors of game consoles whenever I can, and whenever I see translucent brightly colored plastic my nostalgia flares up and I feel like a kid again.

I wish everything came in EXTREME GREEN

Vertical Wii with that lit up blue disc tray strip, especially the black version. So sexy.

Black Wii is the most appealing console I've seen. But a very close second goes to a handheld I will never even come close to consider owning, the PS Vita is one pretty thing to look at.

I was never a Sega fan (Nintendo 4 lyfe), but a lot of their systems looked really sleek and cool to me.

The Genesis redesign:

Sega Saturn looked way cooler than the PSX:

Panasonic REAL 3DO had this nice understated quality to it that said: this is a piece of technology for adults, not a children's toy. Of course, all 3DOs came with a price-tag to match that sentiment.

I really loved the Ultra 64 branding before they changed it to N64, but of course N64 is my boo as well:

The Atari Jaguar looked kind of cool for its time, even though the type of plastic they used made it feel cheap.

For me it is these:

1. PS Vita:

This thing is just a marvel to look at; amazing screen, great-feeling controls and even two analog sticks for a handheld :D.

2. DS Lite:

This system's simple look plus its great feeling D-Pad makes playing games on it really great :).

3. GBA SP:

Sleek, simple and portable; what more could you want out of a handheld :D?

4. GameCube:

Call is a lunchbox but for a home console it's surprisingly portable due to the handle :). Nice colors and amazing control made this system even better.

5. PS2 Slim:

Just a really nice looking system; sleek black color and small design make this one of the smallest home consoles one could own.

This pretty much. When I first saw the PS4 picture I was like "meeeeh". In person though it's a nice simple understated design. Look nice on my stand and the angle just give it a touch flair to make it not just a black box. This is good design to me. Like how the iPhone is just a black rectangle but it still look good.

Gamecube, DSi, Famicom/Super Famicom are my personal favorites.

Not a fan of all the glossiness of recent consoles but they're not really that bad looking by any means, just feel really uninspired.

That's interesting, but I much prefer the Sega CDX.

The Wondermega is beautiful and much nicer looking than the X-Eye. It has a great "Japanese Future" look to it.. but the CDX. Oh, the CDX. I want it so badly.

If only it didn't have a battery bay. I doubt anyone on the surface of our planet used that thing for their everyday portable CD player on the bus. It could have been even smaller...

I have the black one (which has a nicer matte finish) but my wife has a white DSi and it looks great. It's nice and understated. The XL wasn't bad either although it's a bit too big for its own good and the rounded edges make it look more toylike. We'll also ignore the triple multicolour sandwich of the original 3DS.

In a similar vein I love the look of the white PS4.

I have a glossy 360 Slim, unfortunately, but the matte one is better looking and about as nice as you can design a square box this side of a black Wii..

And I seem to be alone in this based on how much praise the console looks, but I think the Panasonic Q is the ugliest thing ever made. It's gaudy as fuck, looks like a square Christmas ornament.

Well congratulations! You got yourself caught!
I adore the look of the Wii U. Very sleek and minimalist in the design. Takes up very little space and the glossy black finish is stunning. Was really not expecting to be so attracted to its design until I bought one.

Alternatively, the PS4 looks striking in marketing images and materials, but once I held one, I've reconsidered it one of my least favorite. Feels very flimsy and cheap, the power and disc buttons are awkward and even the inputs on the front and back of the machine do not mesh well. Still it looks absolutely sleeker in images in this thread than the machine sitting next to me on my shelf.

Dark Brown DSi XL

beautiful.

Forgot about this one, adored this machine when I owned it. Constantly commented in my head how great this machine looked everytime I reached for it to play. The 3DS XL isn't nearly as sleek especially with the original NA colors.

DSi also was a fabulous looking Nintendo handheld prior.

There is one big design problem with CDX: Unlike the regular Sega (Mega) CD, Wondermega etc. it does have no internal backup memory to save your games. Which makes it useless for any CD-based games that require saving. What were they thinking?

I would like that so much more if it wasn't bundled with Titanfall, lol. Absolutely sick styling, nice seeing something that isn't just a solid colour.

That Titanfall Xbone was never released (bundled with Titanfall or otherwise), just the controller.

Also happy to see so many people coming out in support of the Superslim PS3. I hated the look when revealed, but when I was forced to buy one after my OG died, I was shocked at how beautiful the superslim is in person. So thin with great build quality. The grill is the only part I dislike, but its a minor issue when the whole of the machine is surprisingly great looking on the shelf.

The mid-00s were a magical time because Jony Ive's influence was just starting to be felt, and many of these devices were inspired by the early iPod / MacBook / iMac / AirPort aesthetic. It went all quickly to shit though, as companies tried to get more original.
