Is having good equipment key to winning some of these tournaments? My Mii is pretty fresh so I don't have much equipment, yet.

I've won the three tournaments (weren't that hard, I got first place the first time I played the 2nd and last course) so currently going through the challenges now.

Is there in-game tournaments against the CPU for the extra 9 courses? Or are those courses only active when playing the real tournaments?

Yeah, definitely. Better to stick to Star Chars until you have better gear. Star Daisy is an early unlock (beat her in challenge mode) and she's pretty good.

You can play with whatever ruleset you want against CPU (incl. hole number). Just check under Mario Golf, shouldn't be too hard to figure out.

When you first start up the game, select Toad's Booth in the lower left. The first option in there will take you to the downloadable content.

The tournament gear continues to be a bummer. The console/handheld motifs look neat, but the equipment itself just isn't up to snuff stat-wise. Useless, basically.

America's Point Play was fun. Got a point total of 57 but into the 60+ point range is doable.

Tournaments can be so frustrating as you're always trying to improve upon your scores. These are my current scores:

Americas Tournament 4: -19
Americas Point Play 3: 58
Callaway Tournament 4: -17
World Tournament 6: -17

does anyone else have a strange issue where the circle pad tends to be weird in the menus for this game? i'll hit left, and the selection will go left, then down. i thought it was my circlepad, but it recalibrated fine and i haven't been able to get it to happen in any other game, or in the OS. i was able to find someone complaining about the same thing in the gamefaqs forum, so maybe i'm not crazy.

not a very serious issue but it seems like the "up" and "down" threshold is set too low in the menus or something

What's the best "stroke play" score that you guys have on the "Forest Course" so far?

I got -25 with Star Bowser but there's lots of eagle possibilities on this course.

I just shot a -19 with my Mii on America's Tournament. That might be my best Mii score. My handicap is up over 10 now so whenever we get another handicap tourney I should be in the middle one.

Play three or four Challenges to completion, come back and another Costume Challenge is available. If you're out of Challenges to try, it'll probably take longer, though, yes.

In Mario Golf mode. You get a full new array of challenges for every course or just do free play on them, obviously. Also, you can participate in DLC tournaments now. They shower you with coins so if you need some mulligans for the One On, One Putt challenge, that's the way to quickly rack up 10,000 (and more).

The GBC one isn't bad, but the GBA one is the best portable one before World Tour.

Advance Tour has the superior RPG elements though. But the actual golfing in World Tour is better.

I loved being able to put my character from Advance Tour into the Gamecube game.

I'm at 450,000 coins.

What can you honestly buy with this money?

Has anyone here tried the "Americas Near Pin 3" tourney yet? I'm currently ranked #78 with a total of 97.42 feet and the #1 ranked guy has a total of 19.50 feet.

That's an average of 2.17 ft per tee shot near the pin! :lol
