wait? did something happen to confirm that there aren't any more characters? are all my dreams dead?
Not super confirmed or anything.

If there were more characters, I would expect them to show up in the ESRB video in some capacity.

All Star mode was locked in part of the video, so that could be related to the CSS we saw. Hopefully.

Overall, I am quite excited about this Smashu.
It has so many new & novel characters, so I'll probably stick to the Random button for the foreseeable future once I get the game.

As much as I don't like seeing the "Random" square on the CSS, I'm with you on using it often. There's just too many characters I want to use to stick to one or two mains.

Nope; we just slowed down and realized that anyone not explicitly leaked by the now-under-litigation MFL had a good shot at not being real, seeing how all he had was that ESRB trailer and has since been fired. Although he still has a 3DS copy of Smash, he's facing enough legal hell as it is; I doubt he's dumb enough to try to unlock everyone before his court/the game's release date (The latter's probably coming first, and that's not a crack about the speed of the US Justice System; it's coming!), so I'm not expecting to hear any more from him. No word on All-Star, but I think his source was the same.

There's still a chance there's more we can have leaked to us pre-launch, but A.) The theorized cuts are likely to stay that until DLC, and B.) do you really want to have more of the game spoiled for you this close to launch?

Don't really care for bowser Jr, but i *ADORE* the koopa car, and I *LOVE* his theme song, so for me, 2 outta 3 aint bad. If the koopa-kids-as-alts rumor is true, then I get ludwig, and it's just win-win-win for me. Considering Tron Bonne was my favorite MVC3 character before she was nerfed in ultimate, I think I might have my new main (outside of link, of course).
I'll have to switch to Larry for our battles if you'll be maining Ludwig. ;)

I'm slowly realizing how good the Clown Car is. If the rumor is true Ludwig could very well become one of my mains.

The SMB3 boss battle theme has the right tempo for a quick-cut montage of Bowser Jr. and the Koopalings fighting in their reveal trailer... and it also has the nostalgic impact... but I wonder if Sakurai would sooner pick a more recent theme out of consideration for the kids who are mainly familiar with these characters by way of NSMB.

Doing that list afew pages back (I'm behind lol) (Hope I don't forget any of my mains/secondaries)

Mains:
Lucina (Main Main)
Robin
Villager
Duck Hunt
The Koopaling with the sunglasses
Mr. G&W
Toon Lonk

Palutena (Would be Main but default moveset is eh.)
Rosalina (Depending on how I do withher moveset.)

That would cause a controversy with the conservative groups. While this may appear as a joke, I wouldn't be surprised if that happens. Little Mac punching Samus in the trailer even offended some people.

Where were these groups when Baby Bowser confused Yoshi for a "green donkey" in Yoshi's Island?

The hardest part to me for possibly losing Ice Climbers, is pretty much without Smash, nobody even know they exist, and they only really exist currently because of Smash. Without Smash, we wouldn't have cool hockey/christmas remixes, snowy mountain levels, or just cold icy levels in general.

Without Smash, Mewtwo continues being relevant. Snake too. Squirtle and Ivysaur also still appear in games. If you like Star Fox you have Fox/Falco and the entire series in Smash. If you like Mother, you still have Ness. If you liked Ice Climbers... you don't get anything. Not even a new game in their series to play outside of Smash.

They also represented all the pre-Super Mario Bros "this game isn't really good, but it's all we have" Arcadey NES games. We have the Balloon Fight level to sort of reference it, but not really. Not as a playable character.

Ice Climbers were also the most unique character in the game, control wise, even being more complicated and advanced than Olimar with their desyncing, and in their tiny little inuit appearance, it was charming they were so deep.

This is why not having them concerns me. Not having them in Smash doesn't just mean they aren't in Smash, like previous cuts, but still remain relevant as Nintendo characters. It basically means they stop existing in people's minds as characters. They fade away, they become irrelevant. They have nothing to fall back on, all they have is Smash Bros. Cutting them doesn't just cut Ice Climbers from Smash.

No other series in Smash relies so much on Smash to remain relevant.

Can I say how ridiculously unbelievable the "Nintendo forgot to take his unlocked 3DS and final copy of Smash from him" thing is?

Like, not in a that's-crazy sort of way.

I mean I literally do not believe that happened.

This is a good point and good post. I think Kid Icarus was pretty much in the same position prior to Uprising, and ROB and G&W are special cases so those don't really apply either. So you're right. The only new IC game we got was NES Remix, and other than that we haven't gotten anything. I think this is all the more reason for Nintendo to test the waters with an eShop game for IC to see how it does. I think they could make it a cool puzzle platformer (but I'm open to anything featuring Nana and Popo).

People are suggesting the leaker has an actual copy of the game rather than just access to an ESRB footage reel?

Was there some recent event that makes this ill timing? I'll edit it out.

Several incidents of police brutality towards people of color happened in the past few weeks, yeah. Not saying yours was over the line - the joke I had on my tongue (or my fingers I guess) was tho. :p

Yeah. I don't think this part of the leak news is true at all. I don't see how he would have an unlocked 3DS to take off-premises to begin with, but maybe he does. With that said, I doubt he has a copy of Smash (a final copy, to boot, considering we don't know if it's gone gold yet for the NA version) that he would be allowed to take home. I doubt he was sued, too, because I think the lawsuit would be public news and knowledge. I do believe he was fired, but I doubt he necessarily worked for NOA. The only evidence we have concretely points to an ESRB leak and nothing else.

Yes. Someone came in here yesterday saying the leaker was a friend of a friend, was an employee at NOA, got fired and will be sued, but Nintendo forgot to take his 3DS and cart from him so he still might leak more.

It's the dumbest story that people kept repeating on here and other sites.
