Shift over Last Guardian, Gravity Rush 2 wants to sit next to you

Christ, I'm not saying that it is at the same level as TLG, I just made the comparison because it's yet another first-party Sony title that's become (or becoming) vapourware, that's all.

And at least TLG got a proper trailer before it dropped off the face of the earth.

The Last Guardian comments before PS4 release look like to had been made to shut up fans and to keep the hype train rolling.

The Gravity Rush 2 teaser also seemed to have been made on the cheap just to make their lineup/support look bigger than it actually is. Precendence to this are the Resident Evil PSP announcement back then when the PSPgo was about to release and Bioshock for PSV before the PSV was launched.

Japan has lost all enthusiasm of video game making, unless it's something that can be played in subway and has app purchases attached. Embrace the hopelessness.

This is not hyperbolic.

So it's been less than a year since announcement (Sept 20)? That's barely vaporware at all by Japanese standards. Hell, they're right on schedule.

How the hell is it becoming vaporware... ?
It has merely received a teaser, and that was less than a yer ago.

Nothing on the level of The Last Guardian. Nothing.

Personally I'm more angry at them not showing GR2 than TLR (stopped caring a long time ago). It's a goddamn sequel Sony, not rocket science. If you really don't feel like putting it on a machine exclusively devoted to indie gaming (gee, thanks for that btw) at least remaster the first one for PS3/4 and then put the sequel there.

Or at least have Toyama go back to survival horror :(

Perhaps it's taking a while because they've extracted all the 'boring as fuck' and realised that there's very little left.

Honestly, I tried to like Gravity Rush, but it was one of those games where the concepts and trailers made it look so much better than the game it really was

I thought the game was pretty boring as well. The combat got boring and the visuals / colour palette bothered me.

My, thats a massive hyperbole you have there OP...
I think you need to simmer down a bit. I know a year seems like a long time, but its not really that long of a time.

Yup. Look into your hearts and accept the truth.

Wonderful little world, nice characters, felt great falling from 100ft and landing exactly where you intended, cool gravity mechanic. Apart from that, it was about as entertaining as pulling out your teeth and jamming them under your foreskin.

I remember mission 18 being the point where I thought 'am I really going to keep playing this?'. Eventually finished the game through gritted teeth.

You might not have enjoyed the game but c'mon man. C'mon.

Where's the hyperbole? You don't think showing a teaser trailer for Gravity Rush 2 in all but name and then going silent for a year is taking the piss? If we don't see it at the actual show, and I doubt we will, then when realistically will we see it next?

I actually tested my theory before posting in order to avoid hyperbole. Can't talk properly now, but at least I know I wasn't exaggerating.

Fetch. Crap arena combat. Fetch. Crap arena combat. Fetch. Crap arena combat. Fetch. Crap arena combat.

....yeah. Game was fucking boring. Gorgeous world to acrobatically traverse, fuck all worth doing once you land.

Just want to throw this in: they showed a teaser for Oreshika 2 at TGS 2012, showed more of it at TGS 2013 and it released in July 2014.

Might just be another case of them showing it too early.

Do you realize that the conference today was the PRE-show event?

The pre-show event intended to serve as a showcase for all the games coming to the Vita and PS4 in the future? Yeah, I realise that. We'll see just how much of an appearance GR 2 makes at the actual TGS this year.

Also didn't Gravity Rush come out like 2 years ago? What a weird thing to do in comparing it to the Last Guardian.

People need to wait before calling GR2 a no show. I remember being disappointed when it wasn't shown at the TGS conference last year too, and then it showed up out of nowhere during the actual event. Chances that it will show up are probably still pretty good.

GR2 was never actually announced really...just teased.
Could be simply GR remake on PS4 for all we know.

That was no remake.

Well I guess I always felt like Gravity Rush was compromised on the Vita so I guess I'm hoping for a PS4 port of the first one and then sequel soon after. If Gravity Rush really ends up only on the Vita without a sequel in the end that would be a huge shame.

Too early to say that. We saw it last time (randomly?) in SCEJ's TGS booth. No reason to not see it again there.

I had a lot of fun with the point to point racing missions.

It was clearly a Vita game last year when it was unveiled in that short trailer. If they really have moved it to the PS4, then they're going to have to retool it. They can't just drop it on the PS4. Not just from a visual standpoint, but also from a controls standpoint.

-sigh- There's always next time. I'm pretty sure Gravity Daze is re-purposed for the PS4 now, that's just how it is with the current reality of the Vita...its just a matter of having it show its face

scej doesn't make games, they just sit in their offices "collaborating" while playing candy crush on their phones

Hehe. :(

Realistically speaking though, Western devs are just finally getting their first wave of games done in 2015, and we know Japanese devs have been generally slower at HD development, so I think Sony's Japan teams deserve a little more time before we say this since it's not like anyone expected them to be as fast as their Western teams.

Gravity Rush is still the best Vita game I've played, but I'll be more than happy to get the PS4 version of GR2. Sony has made it more than clear how they feel about Vita at this point.

And let's not get crazy with the TLG comparisons. Maybe in a few years but right now it's perfectly reasonable to think the PS4 retooling is cause for delays.

Gravity Rush 1 was a mediocre game aside from the great premise/ "superhero fly through the city by manipulating gravity mechanic".

The combat was bad , there was nothing worthwile to do in the city aside from some well hidden orbs, the side missions were boring and unimaginative filler challanges and the story didn´t really go anywhere.

I hope they take their time for GR2 and make that one great. They are on the verge of something really special.

i have no idea why they announced it last year if they are so far behind that they can go a year without mentioning it. same with shadow of the beast.

it just ends up frustrating the fans

Gravity Rush on PS4, with a Morpheus compatibility, February 2016.

You read it here guys.

lol. I just posted this in the PSN thread. I think it's plausable, considering the reason the first game shifted over to Vita (more direct control, greater immersion.

It's only been a year and they are likely making it a PS4 game, no wonder they have nothing to show

You don't get to announce something with concept art twice

Fuck that. Where's smtxfe
In a grave, that's where.

THEY ARE STILL ACTIVELY WORKING ON IT ;-;

FE X SMT is like Kingdom Hearts III. When it was announced almost two years ago it was a "now in development" kind of thing, with the exception that FE X SMT will probably bomb so throughly that Nintendo didn't even bother to make a CGI teaser for it, unlike Square-Enix with Kingdom Hearts III ;-;

Kat is one of Sony's best new characters in years. I really hope they take advantage of the popularity of the PS4 to hopefully grow the franchise.

Well Gravity Rush was originally a PS3 game in 2007 until it got moved to Vita because the new inputs of Vita interested the Devs.

How about waiting until TGS ends before proclaiming a game is vaporware alá TLG after only 1 year of silence?

Also, GR2 will be a PS4 title. Suck it Vita neeeerds!

If we didn't see it at the conference, then I don't think we're going to see it at TGS at all. I'd love to be proven wrong, but I don't think it's going to show, and if it doesn't then we have to wait until E3 next year before we can hope to see it make an appearance, unless there's some noteworthy event inbetween that I'm forgetting about.

And I think 1 year is a long time to wait for something that got the ultimate tease in 20 seconds of gameplay footage.
