Just as a dissenting opinion, I love with with a stylus. All depends on your comfort and playstyle, though, and I do find it hand and wrist-cramp inducing to play after a short while. (Love your avatar, BTW!)

Using the stylus in the land segments of the game felt awfully clunky and slow to me! It's nice for aiming, but I didn't like the camera. I'm not sure what else they could have done for camera movements, so I don't blame them too much! Yeah, I can only play one chapter at a time.

Thanks! :D

If you have a circle pad Pro Kid Icarus doesn't become a twin stick shooter, you can just use the right analogue instead of left. Being left handed I bought a circle pad pro and honestly...my brain doesn't understand why right stick is moving the character making it hard to coordinate movement so I just play it like a right handed person and I'm doing fine (I keep the CCP plugged in as the bulkiness helps make it comfy). I also use a cotton bud as a styluss (the CCP makes getting the styluss out a pain) I don't know if that helps cramp (I think the CCP is more important...my play sessions have been pretty short though).

I'd assume new 3DS justs counts as circle pad pro always plugged in and well, have you seen the size of the right stick on the New 3DS? I'm not sure it would be good.

That's too bad! What games do you use the CPP for, then?

After Floating Cloud God Saves the Pilgrims in HD!, Dakko Dakko has made other fresh shooter with very good ideas. More complete and more challenging.

Unepic and Scram Kitty are my favourite games of this year until now.
I'm waiting for you, Shovel Knight.

This game is kicking my ass, great work.

Ask me about the GAF Notebook
I bought UnEpic but haven't played. Booted it up got 10 mins in and had to go to bed. I need to go back and actually play it.

Hmm. Guess I'll keep thinking about it.

What about monster hunter 3 ultimate? Watching a video on the eShop and am getting a PSO vibe.

Does it play similar to PSO? Do you level up?

It's kinda hard to explain, but no, you don't really level up in a traditional way. You get specific items from killing monsters, mining and gathering and you make new equipment with it though. There's an intricate system whereas equipping certain sets gives you certain abilities etc. It's all a bit hard to get into, but it gets pretty damn good and addicting once you do.

People will tell you MH3U isn't all that similar to PSO but I really liked both and definitely got a similar vibe. I'd say try the demo but the demo really kinda scared me off it.

So on Wii U it checks for free space and then for funds. On 3DS it checks for funds and then free space. Make up your mind eShop...(I was trying to find out how much space UmiharaKawase would take up).

Maybe if the 3DS had two trigger buttons one of them could have been a centre camera behind pit.

I'll use the CCP in Galaxy Force 2 (it makes it more authentic to the arcade version) and with the New 3DS having the buttons built-in I have a feeling there will be more support. In a sense the fear of not being able to play was what was holding me back from playing Kid Icarus.

It has the PSO vibe in the sense combos have clunky animations and you commit to them and you need to work out your safe timing. The quest structure seems more like the popular boss rush ones (well the big monsters are the star of the show here). There is no auto targeting like PSO had though (this makes the ranges weapons particularly hard to use).

Some would say it is more like a 1-on-1 fighting game. Weapon can thought of as character selection here.

The demo is the equivalent of throwing someone who has never swam into the deep end. Makes me wonder if Capcom knows the demo scares people away; making 2 demos is an obvious solution (veteran and beginner ones as the demo seems to be a "hey fan here is a preview of some new stuff. get hype").

Playing the Wii U version (which regularly goes on sale) might make going back to 3DS for 4 odd. Also with 4 looming online community for MH3U might die off.

I really want to download RE:Revelations on Wii U but with the sequel not coming on same system, what the point?

I perfectly nderstand. I like to collect games on the same console...but still...I also usually pick up two version of RE games I liked (I did it for RE1 and Directors cut, Remake, RE4 Wii edition after the GC one, RE5 Gold with the DLC...), so I was planning to buy RERevelation HD even if I've completed the 3DS version. And the dual screen and offtv are really pushing me toward the Wii U one. If they'd announce RER2 for Wii U I think I could already have pick it up.
Btw I'll probably buy it sooner or later, for Wii U. But only at cheaper price. maybe they'll do another Halloween week sales next october...

im waiting for an unepic sale, but it never happens

UNpeic saw a discount if you already downloaded Abyss. Unfortunately, I was in vacation, so unable to download anything...
The same week, also Scram Kitty was on sale in PAL...and than again I was unable to purchase it...

I'll download them together with Steamworkd dig (cross-discount available) once they'll be back on sale...and Shovel Knight too (hoping for a cross-promotion to download it also on 3ds)

So, I've been thinking of downloading some games for the first time in my 3DS.

But with the new 3DS coming, the only way of keeping my downloads is to first buy the new console and then transfer before selling, no?

To do a transfer, all you need it to have both consoles with you, and also a way for them to connect to the internet. If your gamestore meets those consditions, perhaps they will allow you to do a system transfer on the spot.

Yeah but won't sell to a store, selling to another person directly is usually more profitable and there's a chance I might wanna sell my system before buying the new one.

Then you are screwed. You'll need have both, simultaneously , at same time connected to the interwebs to do the transfer.

Sony and MS handles device deactivation better I think.

Any idea what this character sale is?

It's a semi good week. More demos than releases. VC output is still bad.

Never really understood Adventure Island vs. Wonder Boy games and I'm pretty sure I haven't played any of either. The first Adventure Island is identical to the first Wonder Boy, though? Is there an article somewhere I can read about this? (And, these games are good?)

I'm really curious about what games will be in the Smash sale, although a maximum of 33% off is less than I'd hoped.

Was Yoshi in the EU character sale, I forget easily. Then again there is hardly any Yoshi on the eShop (didn't stop Pit).

As for up to 33% most the deals were that in the EU fall under that. Little Mac, Pac Man and Mega Man aside (those were 50%).

(I was trying to find out how much space UmiharaKawase would take up).
It was about 1000 blocks so nothing needed deleting, yay.

Yep, the first Adventure Island is Wonder Boy with a different name and main character. After that both series went in completely different directions. HG101 has a pretty good write-up about the licensing issues - http://www.hardcoregaming101.net/wonderboy/wonderboy.htm

Adventure Island is essentially Wonder Boy, yes. The other Adventure Island games stick to or expand on the original Wonder Boy platformer template but they're all original Hudson games that have nothing to do with the original developers or the Wonder Boy series.

As for Wonder Boy, from the sequel on (Wonder Boy in Monster Land) it evolved into action-adventure/RPG series that doesn't have a whole lot of resemblance to the original game.

Is it worth 12€? Haven't played anyone in the series

Good luck! and pleeease, update us PAL poor guys

Good news! I am finally set up as a NoE publisher. Just need to finish the current patch I am working on (so both NoA/NoE are same) and get the game translated. I estimate I'll submit the game to Europe by end of the month. PEGI areas only for right now, so no Germany due to crazy USK rating cost (will eventually though)

For the price though. What would be a good Euro/Pound price? Game is $2.99 in States, what would be the equivalent and a good deal in Europe?

Wait, where are there discounted eshop cards in Canada this week? (I'm also interested if they're actually eshop cats, those sound intriguing)
Well there is this...
Cat Mario Show Episode 2 is up!!!

Going in a little blind myself (know it is a hard physics platformer with grappling hook). Considering the prices the rest of the series go for and it being a full retail release in Japan I don't think the price is at all unreasonable.

From a glance here: While critics seem favourable but some customs might dislike the rough edges of it (graphics are kind of ugly, music isn't great, physics can mean glitches)
