Sales of every other Platinum game say otherwise.
The original Bayo's first NPD months were lower than its first week in JP......however since JP sales for Bayo 2 are so low its more likely US sales are better.
Sales of every other Platinum game say otherwise.
PS3 and 360 and in the future Ps4 and likely Xbone.Funny thing is, which other platform today has games like this readily available and coming in the future?
I understand why someone may not want to buy a wii U just for bayo 2 ,but the japanese who already have one,why the hell are not buying this game?it's not like there are tons of good games to play every moonth on the console at the moment
It would've made a better return (than Wii U) on the Vita. Seriously. While it would never happen Nintendo likely would have made a better return if they had put it on the PS3 and 360.

I'm fairly sure the first Bayonetta sold better in Japan than the US

You're getting sad now Dave. Wait for the western release before going crazy like that.It would've made a better return (than Wii U) on the Vita. Seriously.
Before or after the lawsuits from people breaking their Vitas or hands playing a Real Action Game (TM) on a portable?
Just kidding...
I don't think the world would be ready for a Vita rubbing mechanic involving Bayonetta and Jeanne. If it can survive Monster Monpiece, it can survive anything
Any ideas on how much Nintendo paid for this game?
Yes. That's a very plausible scenario. My point is that nobody can prove that Bayo2 would never have been made if not for Nintendo. People can praise Nintendo all they want for taking a risk by funding Bayo2. That is entirely fine. HOWEVER, people who claim that no other company besides Nintendo would have funded Bayo 2 are simply making up false facts based on a vague PR statement.I don't think it's so much that they pitched Bayo 2 to Nintendo, they were working with Nintendo on Wonderful 101 when the rumor broke that Bayonetta 2 was cancelled by Sega in May 2012 (1 month before E3, when Wonderful 101 was unveiled under the codename Project P-100.) Nintendo probably asked them "Hey, since we're working with you on The Wonderful 101, how far in development was Bayonetta 2 and how much do you think it would cost to finish it?"
We obviously have no idea if Microsoft or Sony expressed interest in funding Bayonetta 2, but obviously since Platinum already had an ongoing business deal with them for The Wonderful 101, there'd be no reason for them to turn down a company they're already working with offering to fund another game, especially one that was cancelled after it had already started development. This is obviously conjecture, but I wouldn't be surprised if it went down something like that.
This is a pretty broad claim with no evidence to back it up.You wouldn't even have Bayonetta 2 were it not for Nintendo.
Eh, they managed with NGS1 & 2!Before or after the lawsuits from people breaking their Vitas or hands playing a Real Action Game (TM) on a portable?
Just kidding...
Japan thread? Japan thread. You're getting sad now Dave. Wait for the western release before going crazy like that.
Companies should know that if they want my money they should release it on consoles i own. Not gonna buy a Wii U just for one game which shouldn't have been on that console in the first place. Platinum bet on the wrong horse.

No thats not for certain lol. How many times I gotta tell yall that nobody here knows nothing? One thing for sure is that they are making a loss since SEGA was disappointed with the initial Bayo sales and Bayo 2 is selling a fraction of what the initial did with either a similar budget or one even more expensive.

Lol you actually think that will work? Wii U could have gotten something like that and gamers everywhere will downplay it like it aint shit. The Wii U already got exclusive that just "aint shit"..cause its on wii u. Look at the first post in this thread thats exactly what that stands for.Nintendo went with the wrong company when it comes to try convincing consumers to buy their consoles and that specific game. Should have gone with FromSoft and gotten an exclusive Souls type game.

Dark Souls II producer Takeshi Miyazoe exploded with laughter when he was asked by EDGE if Dark Souls will come to the Wii U. Miyazoe said it was more of a company decision not to bring the challenging series to the platform. Miyazoe concluded by saying that he thinks that the audience for Dark Souls is a lot different then that of Wii U.
Talking about paid exclusive here..he wouldnt be laughin with a check on his plate.
The only thing more pitiful than the fanboy tears would be this game's sales numbers.Nintendo went with the wrong company when it comes to try convincing consumers to buy their console and that specific game. Should have gone with FromSoft and gotten an exclusive Souls type game.
One game just isn't enough when the system is so far out of step with what gamers actually want. Doesn't matter which game.Nintendo went with the wrong company when it comes to try convincing consumers to buy their console and that specific game. Should have gone with FromSoft and gotten an exclusive Souls type game.
All this gloating over a game bombing is just pathetic behaviour.
As I said, we as consumers know next to nothing of what happens behind the scenes.Kamiya was actually on twitter earlier trying to explain to a Japanese dude who accused him of betraying Bayo1 fans that Nintendo was the only publisher willing to fund Bayo2
Hahaha and back in full circle we are.Yes. That's a very plausible scenario. My point is that nobody can prove that Bayo2 would never have been made if not for Nintendo. GAF would collide upon itself and create a singularity. The crying would be heard from the vacuum of outer space.

Im just saying, it was an example chill dude. Sorry I said something so disturbing.lol why would FROM accept something like that when they have publishers like Namco willing to distribute/fund their games across numerous platforms which actually have a Souls fan base? Or Sony who is willing to work with them to create a next gen engine and release the game on a platform which has the majority of the Souls fanbase?
FROm are far more desirable than Platinum to publishers. Their games sell far better, can be marketed easily and effectively and are top quality. Nintendo would be one of the last publishers they would go to to fund their games.
Given it's an HD title with a 2-3 year development cycle it can be said with moderate certainty that the 150k or whatever this eventually sells won't cover even the direct costs, let alone total costs of the project. Unless it was staffed by magic pixies, or the humans that made it were grossly underpaid. No thats not for certain lol. How many times I gotta tell yall that nobody here knows nothing?
However, the game was released Saturday, September 20th, and hasn't actually spent a full week in stores.
Kamiya was actually on twitter earlier trying to explain to a Japanese dude who accused him of betraying Bayo1 fans that Nintendo was the only publisher willing to fund Bayo2
As I said, we as consumers know next to nothing of what happens behind the scenes.
"Nintendo was the only one willing to fund Bayo 2"
You see, there are several ways I can interpret this sentence:
1. Sega did not want to fund Bayo 2. Nintendo does. Ergo Nintendo was the only one who was willing to fund Bayo 2.
2. Platinum pitched the game to several game companies and Nintendo was the one who accepted it first.
3. Platinum tried everything they could to get Bayo2 off the ground and only Nintendo accepted their offer.
The way I see it, interpretation #3 is the one that is technically correct. Seeing as to how we have no solid evidence that proves that Nintendo is the sole company willing to fund Bayo2, claims of "Bayonetta would not have existed without Nintendo" is nothing but baseless speculation and should be avoided.
I just hope the mods will make sure none of this sad behavior finds its way in the OT.
I haven't seen so much salt for any other exclusive game ever in my life.
So basically you still just guessing right? I see alot of words but no facts.Given it's an HD title with a 2-3 year development cycle it can be said with moderate certainty that the 150k or whatever this eventually sells won't cover even the direct costs, let alone total costs of the project. Unless it was staffed by magic pixies, or the humans that made it were grossly underpaid.
