I understand why someone may not want to buy a wii U just for bayo 2 ,but the japanese who already have one,why the hell are not buying this game?it's not like there are tons of good games to play every moonth on the console at the moment

Get this line of reasoning/thinking out of your system/head, it's the same FLAWED way that 3rd parties are looking on Nintendo platforms.

NO, the people that have chosen to get a Nintendo system is NOT going to buy your game just because there is nothing else to get or because its the only game in the genre coming out on the system at the time.

Before or after the lawsuits from people breaking their Vitas or hands playing a Real Action Game (TM) on a portable?

Just kidding...

If it can survive Monster Monpiece, it can survive anything

I don't think it's so much that they pitched Bayo 2 to Nintendo, they were working with Nintendo on Wonderful 101 when the rumor broke that Bayonetta 2 was cancelled by Sega in May 2012 (1 month before E3, when Wonderful 101 was unveiled under the codename Project P-100.) Nintendo probably asked them "Hey, since we're working with you on The Wonderful 101, how far in development was Bayonetta 2 and how much do you think it would cost to finish it?"

We obviously have no idea if Microsoft or Sony expressed interest in funding Bayonetta 2, but obviously since Platinum already had an ongoing business deal with them for The Wonderful 101, there'd be no reason for them to turn down a company they're already working with offering to fund another game, especially one that was cancelled after it had already started development. This is obviously conjecture, but I wouldn't be surprised if it went down something like that.
Yes. That's a very plausible scenario. My point is that nobody can prove that Bayo2 would never have been made if not for Nintendo. People can praise Nintendo all they want for taking a risk by funding Bayo2. That is entirely fine. HOWEVER, people who claim that no other company besides Nintendo would have funded Bayo 2 are simply making up false facts based on a vague PR statement.

Case in point(the person below):
You wouldn't even have Bayonetta 2 were it not for Nintendo.
This is a pretty broad claim with no evidence to back it up.

Companies should know that if they want my money they should release it on consoles i own. Not gonna buy a Wii U just for one game which shouldn't have been on that console in the first place. Platinum bet on the wrong horse.

You're getting sad now Dave. Wait for the western release before going crazy like that.

What we definitely know that those 10.000 something Limited Edition copies in Europe are definitely gone. So at least it's not as bad as NBA2K13 :p

I'm doing my part, have 2 LEs on preorder.

I just hope the mods will make sure none of this sad behavior finds its way in the OT.
I haven't seen so much salt for any other exclusive game ever in my life.

One thing for sure is that they are making a loss since SEGA was disappointed with the initial Bayo sales and Bayo 2 is selling a fraction of what the initial did with either a similar budget or one even more expensive.
No thats not for certain lol. How many times I gotta tell yall that nobody here knows nothing?

Kamiya was actually on twitter earlier trying to explain to a Japanese dude who accused him of betraying Bayo1 fans that Nintendo was the only publisher willing to fund Bayo2

Nintendo went with the wrong company when it comes to try convincing consumers to buy their console and that specific game. Should have gone with FromSoft and gotten an exclusive Souls type game.

Lol you actually think that will work? Wii U could have gotten something like that and gamers everywhere will downplay it like it aint shit. The Wii U already got exclusive that just "aint shit"..cause its on wii u. Look at the first post in this thread thats exactly what that stands for.

GAF would collide upon itself and create a singularity. The crying would be heard from the vacuum of outer space.

The thing is, with all the mistakes Nintendo made handling the Wii U, I don't think that anything but lighting in a bottle like Wii Sports or Minecraft being exclusive to the system would have helped.

If Monster Hunter 4 and Shin Megami Tensei 4 were Wii U exclusive...I think fans would be happy and hardware would have sold.

edit: A Souls game on Wii U would have bombed just as bad.

Dark Souls II producer Takeshi Miyazoe exploded with laughter when he was asked by EDGE if Dark Souls will come to the Wii U. Miyazoe said it was more of a company decision not to bring the challenging series to the platform. Miyazoe concluded by saying that he thinks that the audience for Dark Souls is a lot different then that of Wii U.

People can't seriously still be salty about Bayo 2's exclusivity. Nintendo saved it from oblivion. If you want to be pissed at anyone then I guess it'd be Sega.

We should be since we never got a PC port of Bayo 1.

The only thing more pitiful than the fanboy tears would be this game's sales numbers.

One game just isn't enough when the system is so far out of step with what gamers actually want. Doesn't matter which game.

As I said, we as consumers know next to nothing of what happens behind the scenes.

"Nintendo was the only one willing to fund Bayo 2"

You see, there are several ways I can interpret this sentence:
1. Sega did not want to fund Bayo 2. Nintendo does. Ergo Nintendo was the only one who was willing to fund Bayo 2.
2. Platinum pitched the game to several game companies and Nintendo was the one who accepted it first.
3. Platinum tried everything they could to get Bayo2 off the ground and only Nintendo accepted their offer.

The way I see it, interpretation #3 is the one that is technically correct. Seeing as to how we have no solid evidence that proves that Nintendo is the sole company willing to fund Bayo2, claims of "Bayonetta would not have existed without Nintendo" is nothing but baseless speculation and should be avoided.

This is sad. The game represents that part of games I truly think is special. Painstaking balancing of deep gameplay systems and wild and colourful presentation. I should buy a collectors edition just to support platinum even though I think CE's are dumb.

People need to realize that game creators are not stupid. If there's a choice to make the game you want and offer it to as many audiences as possible, especially those who have definitely played your previous games, who wouldn't want to. Unfortunately reality can be pretty different. When games like Bayonetta 2 and The Devil's Third are exclusive WiiU games published by Nintendo, it's obvious their options were very limited.

Talking about paid exclusive here..he wouldnt be laughin with a check on his plate.

lol why would FROM accept something like that when they have publishers like Namco willing to distribute/fund their games across numerous platforms which actually have a Souls fan base? Or Sony who is willing to work with them to create a next gen engine and release the game on a platform which has the majority of the Souls fanbase?

FROm are far more desirable than Platinum to publishers. Their games sell far better, can be marketed easily and effectively and are top quality. Nintendo would be one of the last publishers they would go to to fund their games.

I don't know what Nintendo was thinking, when they funded baynetta 2, they should have gave the Zelda ip and let them make into an action game similar to MGSR, instead of going with hyrule warrior. Baynetta couldn't sell great on 360/ps3 so anybody with common sense knew it would bomb horribly on wiiu.

Well, it seems that guy doesn't have a clue what the audience actually is and what it wants. That's why Dark Souls 2 is as casualized, bad and broken as it is. Sadly.

After buying the Japanese DS2 LE and getting that disappointed, I would never buy DS3, especially not day 1. Exclusive or not.

Im just saying, it was an example chill dude. Sorry I said something so disturbing.

Given it's an HD title with a 2-3 year development cycle it can be said with moderate certainty that the 150k or whatever this eventually sells won't cover even the direct costs, let alone total costs of the project. Unless it was staffed by magic pixies, or the humans that made it were grossly underpaid.

However, the game was released Saturday, September 20th, and hasn't actually spent a full week in stores.

People are jumping the gun here. We should at least wait for a full week to have passed. Those numbers, while still low, are unreliable and doesn't show the reality. Way too many people here are making comparisons with the first Bayonetta title on PS3 and 360: Bayonetta 1's numbers are from a whole week worth of sales. It isn't yet the case for Bayonetta 2.

Now, don't get me wrong, I don't expect the numbers of Bayonetta 2 to skyrocket by next saturday, but we should at least refrain from commenting that new and making dishonest comparisons. By the way, what are those numbers exactly refering to? Is it taking into account the Bayo 1 + 2 pack and other limited editions?

That being said... Yeah, the situation is depressing, especially when you take into account the quality of "Platinum Games" games.

Also, can people stop "blaming" Nintendo and/or Platinum Games for making Bayonetta 2 a Wii U exclusive? The game wouldn't exist if it wasn't for Nintendo's help. Kamiya repeatedly said so again and again and again.

I don't think the game was a bad choice at the time it was given the greenlight. Nintendo may have been optimistic that 3rd party titles would gain traction and Bayonetta2 would've been a nice little compliment to those titles that surely would've come with decent sales initially. Given that most games like this take at least a year to develop(usually much longer) then it's unfair to look back in hindsight and say it was a silly choice. Unfortunately things didn't pan out the way they hoped.

I have a Wii U and will not be getting this, I tried a demo of Bayo1 on the PS3 ages ago and I have no idea why people like it.

Didn't the producer say that the game simply would not exist without Nintendo? Don't understand why people are back to arguing that. Ultimately, it doesn't matter.

These sales numbers are disappointing, but to be expected given both the game and the hardware it is on. I'll be doing my part when the game launches in PALland as I'll go wherever Platinum are.

He outright says so on his twitter.

Bayonetta 2 threads are always so terrible. It's sad that most people in here don't even care about the game. This thread has more views and replies in one day than any Bayo thread in the past few months. People don't care about the game, just about console wars. What a shame, since it's looks like an incredible game.

So basically you still just guessing right? I see alot of words but no facts.
