Super Smash Bros. for 3DS |OT3| Little Mac and Cheese

This irritates me the most. I get wanting a better challenge or something, but fuck you! I wanted to learn, goddammit. :(

Ditto this! All I really care about is how well I do in real life so someone who beats me really bad over and over in For Glory is an opportunity for me to get better. Sometimes I'm trying to see who I like and I just know the dude on the other end is thinking I'm not worth their time.

On the flip side if I completely over shadow my opponent I will stay at least 4 matches is they can catch on. If they have the guts to keep getting pummeled trying to figure out why then I know they have a good spirit.

Well the other player quit on me, so I'm guessing it's like a "I've had enough of this guy already."

And I just faced a Kirby that only used Up and Down B and otherwise the equivalent of the CPU on walk in Training. And now a cheeser Mac I had to DC on. See, define what a shitty opponent is.

I will always stay unless a player is disrespectful or the connection is bad. Win or lose.

Pretty much.
I also can get annoyed when people win and immediately switch characters. I know it's not a tourney or anything so they don't have to lock their character, but c'mon if I lost I'm trying to learn, haha.

I hate that. I feel like it stems from a place of "hurr got 2 protect my sacred win record in 4 glory," which is disappointing. Even if I lose, I can still learn! :/

come on, you should know Smash is the only fighting game where you're NOT locked to your character after a win :p

What makes it even more silly is that it's all going to become moot in 30 days when Smash Wii U comes out and resets those stats. I'm basically just playing Smash 3DS to learn the matchups so I'll have an easier time in Wii U.

So... Can Australian/Japanese systems use the C-stick, and can they be pitted against anyone else? I could have sworn I saw an opponent Lucina using retreating FAirs. But apparently my Replays are capped, so I couldn't check that way.

Does anyone else get infuriated when someone taunts while you're flying out of the stage. I usually try to just do nothing while waiting for the guy to get back on the stage but if they taunt while I'm flying out I just rage (it probably doesn't help me play any better).

I guess to be on topic. I guess everyone will hate me, but I keep cycling through characters whether I win or lose. My line of thinking is: I don't want to be that guy that can only win playing one character.

Yeah, I'm so excited for a controller that will allow me to properly space aerials with my goddess. <3

I get a little irritated, but I also do it all the time :)

I don't understand the recovery times in this game. So many moves seem unpunishable when they should be, yet the mildest of moves (Greninja's side tilt) has more recovery than some characters' smashes. Little Mac in particular is an example of bad fighting game character philosophy, i.e. "really fucking good at one thing, but balanced by being absolutely fucking terrible at another thing." I didn't mind Little Mac before, but I'm getting increasingly disgusted by a fast character with almost no disadvantage on block/ dodge, super-armor for consequence-free Smashes, and can do 30 damage off of A mashing, "but it's okay because he has zero recovery ability." Everybody I want to play with good range (Samus, Greninja, Bowser) has long as hell recovery times, and the other ones I want to play have garbage range (Sheik, Toon Link). I've never had this much trouble picking a suitable character in a Smash Bros. game.

What did they do to sidestepping and dodging anyway? It feels like they dramatically speed them up yet substantially increased how easy it is to punish them, with moves that basically negate roll/ sidestep entirely (Diddy's monkey thing and Brawler's Onslaught).

Just had my first For Glory match in weeks. I CLOWNED ON THIS GAME AND WATCH. Also it reminded me of how boring Final Destination is.

I only do that when playing Wario. He has the best taunts.

Honestly, I like being a little silly/cheeky after a KO, and I like it when my opponent does the same. Been that way for me since Smash 64; smack talk and taunting kept things playful between me and my friends, because Smash can get fucking intense. Hell, when I play online with my friends now I change my taunts to Rekt, T-Rekt, HELLA Rekt and OMEGA REKT (and I have to remember to switch them back to polite stuff when I play SmashGAF, lol).

When it happens against randoms it has a similar effect of reminding me I'm playing against another person, makes my opponent seem alive. It's a strange, but good feeling, where I can recognize that the person I'm playing with is having fun. I guess it's the nostalgia of playing Smash with others, I dunno. I feel like I'm rambling, but basically, I don't mind at all. Salt happens, but definitely not because of taunts.

Good morning, SmashGAF! Does anybody want to play? Prefer customs on to train for the next round of the tournament.

I played matches with Dragonlife yesterday.
I'm so bad. Playing with friends has gotten me too comfortable.
Only character I had worth a damn was Dark Pit.

You still there man? Are we going to carry on?

Yeah I was just about to edit my post. I'm ready, just needed a quick pick-me-up to wake up.

edit: Room's up again

edit 2: btw, legal stages are Yoshi's, Prism, Battlefield, FD and all Omegas except Warioware

I am so hopelessly terrible. My win rate on For Glory 1 on 1 is like 20%. And I frequently can't even get a single stock off of good opponents!

I have tried practicing against computer opponents, but it isn't difficult at all for me to sweep level 9 random matches. I'm not sure where to go from here.

Does anyone have any specific practice method tips? Or do I just need to sink more hours into the game in general?

Lmfaoo I taunt when they're off the stage all the time. I love doing it even more when I'm duck hunt and I do the laughing taunt. I wish we still had Sonic's "you're too slow" taunt. I miss it :(

I love taunts in smash bros...

GGs man, I've never used customs in a proper battle before so it was pretty cool. Link's arrows are awesome, they should just be called better arrows. xP

Haha yeah, it's like when they were thinking of custom moves they were like "oh hey I know, let's give him a bow move that actually kills"

Bow isn't that bad of a move by default (still probably his weakest special tho) but I always found it ridiculous that the move NEVER kills outside of catching them already off-screen, even at 150+%
