What are the 3 party AAA Exclusives on or coming to PS4?

I'm not arguing the quality - I think the series wrecks most others in that respect - but I always reckoned AAA referred to those huge budget games like Asscreed, CoD etc. and there's no way Persona gets close to those.

It's a PS3 port anyway so I have no idea why people are even mentioning it.

Yup the budget doesn't come close. No idea why it's mentioned either.

It was being worked on years before its official announcement. Articles go back that far. I would be very surprised if the PS4 version is anything different.

That's even more ridiculous since it's on PC. Persona is ps3/ps4 only so I guess you could call it "playstation exclusive " but not PS4 exclusive

Yeah, there's loads of 'Playstation' exclusive games (Either also on PS3, Vita or both as well as PS4) on the way. But the definition of AAA has lost all meaning these days so I wouldn't know how I'd categorise them tbh.

Disgaea 5
Dragon Quest Heroes
God Eater 2: Rage Burst
Deep Down
Guilty Gear Xrd
Magicka 2 (+PC)
Mobile Suit Gundam
Natural Doctrine
No Man's Sky (+PC)
Persona 5
Let It Die

edit. AAA? Dammit! Missed it ;)

Third party AAA exclusives are a thing of past. You do get third parties releasing exclusive games due to companies offering publishing funds, helping with development or outright funding the game.

Now third party exclusives that are not AAA (excluding Indies) still exist primarily in Japan. Expect PS4 to get a lot of Japanese third party exclusives just like the PS3.

AAA exclusives......none. A tonne of PS3/4, PSV/4 titles for now though:

Persona 5
Yakuza 0
Deep Down
Let it Die (?)
GG Xrd
DQ Heroes
Disgaea 5
Ys 8
God Eater 2 Rage Burst

As you can see, a lot of Japanese games.

Thanks. Find it strange there isn't one or two developer (publically anyway) making a game for the such a powerful platform with that large of an install base.

AAA exclusive are very rare due to the cost to make them. Unless Sony wants to money hat a big game, they're not getting AAA exclusives.

I don't think Sony can afford AAA exclusives money hat wise right now. They're being very conservative due to the bath the took with the PS3.

Why would they when you can add the 5/6+ million XB1 owners and a PC version to potential sales?

I wouldn't use AAA as criteria for this because there are only like 10 of those a year period. 'bigger than indie' would work and if thats the case things like D5, persona and deep down are pretty snazzy to just get defacto exclusive. Disgaea probably wont expand the fanbase too much but I think P5 will be pretty big worldwide relatively speaking

It's not that strange, why would they do that when they can just make the same game and release it on 2 other platforms at the same time?

What do third parties get out of console exclusivity? I can understand if your games just don't sell on other platforms like the ASW fighters so making the port is not worth the trouble, but for AAA publishers?

I'm surprised that you think the PS3 version would be of the same resolution as the PS4 version.

It seems we are getting the best out of developers when they focus a game on one platform instead of having to deal with parity and what not. Just my observation.

It's sad that, even for the market leader this generation, people are struggling to even come up with 1 AAA third party exclusive.

How can Persona 5 count when the PS4 version is a port?
I mean isn't less third party exclusives a good thing aside from those who want to have it as "fuel." If they are third party devs why restrict platforms released on?

But they can still do that anyways if they feel like it. Both consoles have similar architecture, it's not like devs have to deal with something complicated like the Cell.

1) AAA games are expensive these days. Whats the incentive for devs to make their games exclusive? PS4's install base may be big but that doesn't negate the audience on other platforms.

2) Money hatting AAA exclusives is very expensive. We saw how despite Destiny being multiplatform it sold more PS4's than what Halo 3 did for the 360.

3) Many of PS2's exclusives (AAA at the time) were Japanese. The big Japanese devs since then have adopted a multi-platform approach as costs increase. Is there any point in the PS4 getting FFXV/KH3/MGSV exclusive when 80+% of its sales will be on PS4. Those games are still selling PS4's.

I'm not surprised that ps4 doesn't have 3rd party exclusive. Investing in 3rd party is probably as expensive as investing money to make their own game and also they won't own the IP.

AAA games are dying to start with, there's just not enough of a market anywhere to support those kinds of budgets. Japan is cross gen for whatever little effort they can scrounge up, but that's fine enough for me.

I'm happy enough with the AA stuff we're getting so far.

Define "big".

It's the way how a publisher show his new game
look on GTA V
They spent over 300 Mio. $
They've done a big marketing all over the world, on newspaper, magazines, tv-ads and more

I think you can not define it by numbers, there are a lot of factors that are dependent

You can still have really good looking games even when you go multiplat, see ACU, The Witcher 3 and The Division.

Nah it won't, at the very least it'll run in much higher resolution.

I'm surprised that you think the PS3 version would be of the same resolution as the PS4 version.
I wasn't thinking of resolution when I said that. Was mainly thinking of textures and what not.
A higher resolution is easy to expect but I can see the PS3 and PS4 versions even having the same resolution depending on how the port is handled.

Just have to wait and see.

I was giving commentary on how bad things have become this generation, rather than how good money batting is.

Where do you get the idea that this is bad?

AAA didn't really use to be a thing, it blew up last gen and the industry suffered with many studios and publishers folding. Also, 3rd party AAA is historically very rarely exclusive.

The thing is PS4 already has the AAA exclusives that matters called 1080p
Says the man that nearly only play PSV/3DS
But seriously, does there exist any?

Fake edit: And no about those Japanese games, even if I prefer them, if we put them up to western AAA its a no on the AAA front, at least the exclusives.

No I highly highly doubt they have the same resolution.

Games that GAF is really excited for, but were made by small-medium teams and will have a hard time shipping much more than 1-2M copies worldwide, are not AAA games. That rules out most of the Japanese titles being listed.
